  1. I was on a spouse extension visa and I am now in the UK. To cut a long story short, I didn't get a re-entry permit before leaving Thailand.

I now have 8 days until I hopefully fly back to Thailand (flight booked), but with apparently no visa in my passport.

Is there enough time to get a 60 day tourist visa? Or any other options available to me?

Thank you for your continual help, this forum really is a continual life saver!

    1) Yes - you need to upload proof of AQ booking at the Registration (1st) Phase, also insurance etc

You don’t need to upload flight details at the Registration (1st) Phase, but you need to know your travel dates.

    2) Not uncomplicated - Finland is one of the 63 ‘low risk' countries.

    3) You just have to list Italy as one of the countries you have been to in the last 14 days (along with Finland as you are transiting through there) - Italy is also one of the 63 ‘low risk’ countries, so you are ok from that perspective.

Thank you, Richard. Good to hear!

  3. Hello,

Much appreciate if anyone could answer any of the following questions on returning to Thailand from the UK:

    1. I have started filling out the new Thailand pass ( https://tp.consular.go.th/en/registration ), it looks like I have to buy accommodation and a flight before I can complete the registration, is this the case?

    2. I plan to travel with Finair with a transit stop in Finland, is this okay and uncomplicated?

    3. I returned from Italy to the UK 4 days ago, will this be an issue? do they question where I have recently been?

    Kr,
    Joe

Italy is one of the listed countries.

This what is states on a infographic on the London embassy website.

    image.png.8901e5cd2795903825ad7cfc08b030e3.png

It appears to state that you can enter if you have been in any of the listed countries for a total of 21 days.

    Hi Ubonjoe,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I was/am hoping this is the case, and that the London embassy site has misinterpreted it, as they have rewritten it as "21 days in the UK" (screenshot attached) - which would be a very restricting/strange rule... For example I plan to layover in Finland on the way to bkk (another approved country).

Hopefully it will become clearer on Mon Nov 1st

    Thanks again

  5. Hello All,

I need to return to Thailand ASAP, but had been holding out for the Nov 1st scheme, via 1 day in BKK Hotel.

I arrived back from a 5 day holiday to Italy on Oct 28th, and have just checked the London Thai visa immigration site and it clearly states "applicants must stay in UK for 21 consecutive days before departure" - for the Nov 1st scheme. (I have a small passport visa stamp from Italy :(. )

(I thought they were either scrapping this rule, or it was 21 days in any of the approved countries - Italy included, which their strange wording suggested)

I am now in a pickle as what to do... My wife is not going to be happy!!

If anyone has any suggestions it would be much appreciated, e.g. I could potentially go through the phuket sandbox program if this rule doesn't apply for that, but would rather not if possible...

The 21 days seems quite excessive..

    Thanks in advance,

    Joe

Things have changed recently. They dropped the listed country requirement for the sandbox and the 21 day before departure requirement.

The rules to get a COE for the sandbox no longer mentions the 21 day before requirement.

    Thank you, this is reassuring

  7. Hi All, thanks in advance.

I'm hoping to return to BKK via phuket sandbox in 3 weeks from the UK.

However I am hoping to go to Italy next week, for 1 week, then returning to the UK for one week before departing to Sandbox.

However it states that you must be in the country of departure for 21 days before flying to Phuket, which would mean if I have an Italian stamp in my passport I would not be eligible. Is this the case??

The wording for the rule varies on different sites, and is as follows on the official site: "Must travel from countries listed by TAT, and must have stayed in those countries for at least 21 days prior to departure"

-which is kind of suggesting that as long as they're TAT approved I can stay in any of the countries 21 days before (this doesn't seem to be suggested on other sites)

Hope my query makes sense, and any info is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Joe

Would you be kind enough to share the company name.  I am thinking if returning soon and the company ineas going to buy from raised their cost quite a bit in the last month so I think I'll look at other options.  I'd be happy with the price they quoted you.

My company is AIA, sorry for the slow reply, but it is my third year using them, so might have got cheaper for me

  9. Hello, I'm just getting myself together to return to Thailand. If anyone has any information on the following it would be greatly appreciated.

(I am on a spouse visa expiring next July)

    1. I have been quoted from a Thai insurance company for one year insurance 21,000 baht. (up to 5million bahr cover and covid cover), does this seem like a sensible choice?

(it is a renewal and upgrade from my last year's cover to reach the $100k requirement).

    2. I assume I am not eligible for normal 'travel insurance' from a European company, which would be much cheaper, as I am not a 'tourist', but if I am it would be good to know?

    3. Is there anything else I may be overlooking in my situation ?

    Thank you,

    Joe

  10. Hello,

I've been looking to buy a large wildlife lens (Tamron G2 600mm zoom for Nikon).

They are rather expensive from the big brand stores (around 44,000 ) - which come with 3 year brand warranty, and are completely legit.

Where as they are much cheaper from less credible stores, which sell through lazada and shopee too (around 30,000). I have spoken to these shops (three different but similar stores) and they assure me they are brand new (not refurbished) and nothing seemed too fishy. They have actual physical stores in malls in Bangkok too, so I can test the lens first etc. And the lenses come with 1 year shop warranty (not brand warranty) and they are returnable if faulty etc.

I'm hoping someone will know why they're significantly cheaper?? Or has had good or bad similar experiences??

They could be 'grey markets', selling under the RRP, or refurbished, or fake...

These lenses are quite complicated, requiring firmware updates, and if they're tiny faults in the focus or something it would probably be quite hard for me to spot..... It's a lot of money for me, and 40K + is well over my budget, so I am leaning towards the cheaper option..

    Kind regards,

    Joe

You obtained a 1 year extension of your permission of stay, a permit, not a Visa, based on marriage.

You were scammed. Immigration use their own paid for vehicles and it's part of their job. They get an allowance if they use their own vehicles. Usually a home visit is only required for the first extension application, but if you keep paying for their journey's they'll be more than happy to call each and every year.

This is my document checklist for extension based on marriage.

Extension of Stay based on Marriage.odt 22.7 kB · 2 downloads

    Medical certificate - No!

    Printed/hand drawn map + photo's - Yes!

    Hi Tanoshi,

Thank you for the document and info, just what I needed!

Yes I know the 1000baht was a scam, but they basically said to my wife, you can either:

    - not pay and the officers will turn up randomly sometime in the next week and if you're not there, you will fail the visa.
    - Pay 1000baht and you can book a timeslot for them to come, so you are ready and waiting...

My wife had excessive arguments about this, and they just said it's the normal way and "Up to you, don't pay then!"

I really hate Pathum Thani immigration, they are always asking for the odd 100baht here and there, for who knows what, and that 1000baht time-slot thing is a joke.

If there is someway I could report them I would be more than happy to?!!

    Thanks again,

    Joe

    No medical certificate is needed.

Map and photos of you and wife in and around the house will be needed. Most offices only do one house visit and only few odd office do one every year.

You will need 2 completed TM7 forms with a 4 X 6 cm photo attached.

At most office you will only need your updated bank book and copies showing the 400k baht in the bank for 2 months and the standard letter from the bank.

Best to do the application early. You could do it now if you have the required documents ready.

    Thank you, UbonJoe,

Prompt and informative as always, much appreciated !

  13. Hello,

I obtained a one year marriage visa last year, from Pathum Thani immigration, I am now up for renewal on March 11th.

    Just a couple of questions:

    1. Last year I had to pay 1000baht (extortionate time-slot fee!) for the immigration police to drive round and verify in person that I live in my house. Will I have to do this ordeal again?

    2. Just checking that I am not missing any documents from the following list:

    British passport, arrival card, copies...
    Wife's house booklet / wife's ID
    New Kor Lor 2 certificate,
400,000 baht in the bank for 2 months, statement printed and stamped by bank.
    TM7 form?
    Passport photos
    Visa fee...

    I'm unsure if I'll need:
    Medical certificate?
Printed map to house and photos (which corresponds to question 1)?

Any info on what I am potentially going to forget to bring would be hugely appreciated.

    Thank you so much,

    Joe

There is no difference since you will be extending your original 90 day entry from non-o visa.

Your wife will need to be with you when you apply.

Your marriage certificate and a copy of it and possibley a recent print out of your Kor Ror 2 marriage from an Amphoe.

Copies of your wife's house book registry and ID card.

You will need a completed a TM7 form. And the normal copies of your passport pages and TM6 card.

    Thank you!

You could apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife if you have never applied for one since your last entry into the country with a visa and apply for the one year extension during the last 30 days of it.

Thank you, that seems like a sensible option.

I don’t think I have ever got a 60 day extension, unless unintentionally somehow. I just do the regular 90 day reporting (minus covid allowances).

    1. Is there any difference getting a marriage extension on a 60 day extension. i.e. applying on an extension rather than on the actual non-0?

    2. Can I just go to the immigration on say Dec 15th, and ask for a 60 day extension, or are there requirements and lots of forms etc.? i.e. what is the process?

    Thank you SO much,

    1. You can only apply for a one year extension of stay. There is no 90 day extension.

You could apply for the extension on the 10th if you wanted to.

    2. The 400k baht only has be in the bank for 2 months on the day you apply for the extension.

No changes unless your local offices has something new they want.

Considering my visa runs out on January 11th, and the soonest I can have the funds in my account is realistically this Friday 17th. Which means I am roughly a week short of the requirements.

Are there any other avenues to take? or am I screwed?

  17. Hello all,

    two things:

    1. My marriage visa runs out Jan 11th, I forget if it's possible to extend on say the 10th for another 90 days???

    2. Do I have to show exactly what I showed last year to obtain the visa, e.g. 400,000 in a Thai bank account for 3 months?

(My immigration is Pathum Thani, I'm coming to the end of my 2nd year on a marriage visa,)

    Kind regards,

    Joe

  18. Hello,

I was wondering if there is somewhere in Bangkok that has a huge selection of card / paper. I need certain colours, or at least very close to my desired colours?

Most stationery stores have limited colour ranges.

And, also any companies that can make stylish boxes/packaging to spec.

    Kind regards

Is your coverage inpatient only or also outpatient? (most peopek have only inpatient cover here)

If your policy includes outpatient then the screening  should be covered up to whatever the maximum per visit it.

If excision and biopsy is advised, that too would be covered if yo uhave outpatient cover and it might also be covered under an inpatient policy as outpatient surgery, but this very much depends on the policy.

A visit and visual inspection will be around 2000 baht top end. If excision and biopsy are needed then another 10-15k if dermatologist can do it, more if it needs a plastic surgeon (for example is large and on the face)

Be aware that very, very few Thai doctors have much experience with skin cancers and even fewer have experience with skin cancers in Caucasians. Even otherwise excellent dermatologists frequently make mistakes and iss cancers here.  In fact there is only one doctor I can fully recommend for this, she is in Pattaya but well worth the trip

    https://www.bangkokpattayahospital.com/en/doctor-profile?v_id=7&depid=2

US trained and US Board certified, worked for decades in the US (I think Southern Calif) and skin cancer is her specialty

    Hi, thank you for this!

I have booked to see Dr. Anna this Thursday (fingers crossed).

(and yes, unfortunately I doubt my relatively cheap insurance covers outpatient stuff...I'll call them anyway for clarification on various points e.g. 'outpatient surgery' etc.)

    Thank you!

One year ago today I paid about $350 all in at Samitivej for a complete screening and to have a carcinoma cut out of my forehead and biopsied.  About the size of a raisin.  She did an excellent job, and there's virtually no scar.

    527733206_SkinCancerBiopsyRedacted.thumb.jpg.5b1692198ec14071705ea76c536408a4.jpg

Sorry I don't have her business card, but the biopsy report shows her name in Thai.  I recommend her.

Keep in mind Samitivej is one of the most expensive hospitals in Thailand.  Long story short...  Don't worry about the money- it won't be much.  Get it done.

Thank you very much. I will bear this in mind if a procedure is necessary.
