  1. Hi All,

    A general query here.

I have AIA health insurance, and I want to have a mole checkup/skin cancer screening.

    - Does anyone have any advice on where to go, who to see? (I'm based in Bangkok) ?
    and
    - Would basic health insurance generally cover such screenings? and lab testing etc. if needed?
(I will try and give AIA a call tomorrow for further clarification. The pack I received is predictably in Thai..)

    - Would anyone know of the general cost of such visits?

    Thank you

  2. Hello,

I have a rash / scabby area on the crown of my head. I have visited doctors both in the UK and Thailand. The British doctor prescribed coal/tar shampoo after lab testing the area/skin and it coming back with no valid results. The Thai doctor gave me Daivobet, which definitely calms it down, but after a few tubes/months it is still there (and Daivobet isn't particularly cheap). I think if flares up more in the sun, and often feels like a C-shape  (could be ring worm? or some fungus) and I'm worried it is taking what little hair I have left!!

Any suggestions of ointments or shampoos that are readily available at most Thai pharmacies would be great??

On top of that, I have hard dry flakes on other areas of my head, which are different to the problem mentioned above. These too are taking vast amounts of hair when removed..

I generally have quite a good diet, don't drink too much, 35 years old.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated as this has been going on for years and years.

    Thank you

  3. Hello,

I'm hoping to apply for a Thai driving license asap.

I am on 2nd year of a spouse visa, (not work permit)
I have a full UK driving license already.

Looking at the requirements it states I need a 'Residence certificate' and a copy of TM30 form signed by landlord:
My situation is my address (and spouse visa) is registered to my in-laws house (which falls under Pathum Thani Immigration), so in this case if anyone knows my best course of action it would be great (I can of course borrow the house documents and other items off my wife's father.

    Kind regards
    Joe

That is not too old to the online application.

Have you gotten a new passport since your last entry. That will cause that message to come up.

Be sure you selected the correct nationality. If can be confusing for some countries since there are 2 or 3 options.

All letters and numbers for the TM6 card.

Only complete the required fields marked with a red asterick.

    Hi,

The "For further information....contact immigration..." pop up notice seems to pop up the very second I submit the form, as though it would whatever I had inputted... could be that they have changed the system since the current crisis?

    Other than that,
I assume the TM6 number is the one below the barcode, in my case: DZ74043
    I am a British citizen from UK/England and selected = BRITISH/บริติช
    No new passport.
the other red asterisks are straight forward: Passport no., Surname, gender, dob, nationality, TM6 no., date of arrival, transport type, and the captcha.

I suppose I'll (or the wife) will try and call them tomorrow and if not try and quickly pop in...

    Kind regard

I assume you are on a one year extension of stay issued by immigration not a multiple entry non-o visa issued by embassy or consulate.

If on a 90 day visa entry you cannot do a report of staying longer than 90 consecutive days in the country.

You were not late for doing the report online since it can be done up to the last day. The message to contact your local office means your record could not be found in the database the system searches based upon the info you entered on page 1. Double check you entered all the info correctly and try again.

For a 90 day report in person all you should need is a completed TM47 form and your passport.

Hi, thank you for your time (once again infact! : ) !

Yes I am on a one year extension (non-O - Thai spouse).

Thanks for your suggestion, alas after multiple tries I still can't get passed the first page,( on this site):
    https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn90online/online/tm47/TM47Action.do

(trying many different things e.g. only * required fields, using 1 or both or none of my middle names, checking and rechecking)...
"For further information regarding The 90-day Notification Report Service, please contact the Immigration Branch Office in your residence area."

My last arrival was 14 oct 2019, so quite long ago (the report the following 90 days being my 1 year extension (jan2020)).

I guess it may be that my information contradicts what they have in the system? I'll try contacting them on Monday (I couldn't get through / find a number that worked on Friday), and if that doesn't work I guess I'll pop there with the TM47 form, (which will probably be equally annoying to them as it is to me given the climate!)

Thank you again for your time!

    All the best, Joe

  6. Hello,

I have to do my first 90 day report next week (currently 85 days in to my latest visa) at Pathum Thani.

Is there anything I should be aware of, like taking my wife's house document. Or has anything changed in the current climate.

I tried the app, and it said the first time I report has to be in person (I've always left Thailand instead of reporting so never actually done it)
And online it said contact them (I've left it too late I believe.)

    kind regards and stay safe!

  7. Hello,

I have a small space in my condo where I want to attach a floating desk (attached to 2 walls and wardrobe).

Potentially I would like someone to come and install it (at minimal cost - not a 'handcrafted furniture maker' more of a HomePro style fitting!). Or I could possibly do it myself if I could find somewhere to cut the wood to size and a hole for wires etc.)

Any suggestions on shops etc. much appreciated

    Thank you, Joe

My UK DL was a photocard licence with which you can get Thai DL easily enough.

Only make sure you have the photocopy forms required a another office form to fill, legality is simple enough, the officials at our DLT are very nice helpful people, bribes are still about some places I guess but not in our DLT province.

Great, I am looking into it now!

  9. Thank you for the information everyone.

Yes I meant international driving permit (the small grey A5 booklet). This is all the police are ever interested in when I'm pulled over in Thailand (not my normal UK driving license, which is silly as the grey booklet is just a flimsy piece of paper with a photo stuck in it!)

I guess I will find out from my wife's insurance company what I need.

But seems I will get a Thai driving license asap, I have been putting it off as I hate any sort of place with forms, legality, officials, bribes etc...

    Thank you

I assume you mean your 90 day permit to stay is ending  on the 11th not your visa that is expiring. You can apply for the one year extension of stay (it is not a visa) on the 7th.

You will get a stamp saying your extension is under consideration and it will have a date to report back to get the one year extension stamp. It is not a visa or a extension.

Here is my general list of the documents and etc that are required for the extension application.Marriage Extension Requirements 2.pdf

     Hi,

Thank you for the information and prompt reply,

Yes, sorry my final 90 day entry on my marriage visa permits me to stay until 11th Jan, hoping to get the 1 year extension stamp on the 7th Jan.

    Hopefully that is all OK?

    Thanks again

When you apply for an extension of stay based upon marriage you get a under consideration stamp with a report back date on it 30 days from the day you apply. That stamp allows you to stay in the country until your application is approved.

There is no 15 day before rule for a extension of stay application. You could apply on the last day of your permit to stay if you wanted to.

Great to hear that, thank you so much , I was just about to book an expensive visa run.

So just to calm my stressed mind, I could turn up on the 7th jan with no appointment booked (with my 1 year marriage visa expiring on the 11th) with all the correct documents, 400k etc. And they will submit the application for process and in the meantime provide me with a 30day consideration/bridging visa?

    Thank you

    Joe

  12. Hello, happy NY,

Does anyone know if it's possible to renew a marriage visa about 6 days before the visa expires?

For example would I be able to pay the 500 baht a day overstay fine until it is processed?

I plan to extend in Bangkok, I would normally go on a visa run and then apply but its particularly bad timing.

Any information on this greatly appreciated.

(I know it's supposed to take up to 15 days but I've been waiting for 400,000 baht to be in my account for 2 months)

    Thank you

    Joe

  13. Hello all,

I was hoping to get a list of good Facebook / instagram pages like Thaivisa.com but mainly focused on Bangkok and surrounding areas.

These could be focused on meeting friends, activities, sports, photography, exhibitions, nightlife etc.

Also any good apps for restaurant promotions etc.

    Thank you!

You could also minimise your exposure to many health hazards by moving out of Bangkok if that were possible for you.  Your wife is working in BKK supporting you ?

Yes she is working in Bangkok. I fund myself with savings. We won't be able to leave Bangkok for over a year.  I just picked up a nasty 2 day fever from (what I suspect) was a leech bite in Khao Yai National Park, and am recovering from a 20,000 baht hospital bill s:

  15. (I'm sure this must come up a lot)

I am from the UK (32yo), now living full time in Thailand on a spouse visa with my wife.

I can no longer get travel insurance as I spend over six months of the year in Thailand, and found it hard to find a company that would accept my situation...

My wife has her own health insurance.

Just signing in to thaivisa I can see hundreds of insurance ads, but would prefer to have personal opinions on the best cover?

I just spent an expensive two days in a Bangkok hospital with a high fever which was a definite wake up call.

    Any suggestions etc. really appreciated.

    Joe
