To be honest, it is something the country has never experienced before...and they have no idea what to do. Everyone was super happy before just taking the money in...ripping off foreigners where they could - now it has come to an abrupt halt. HHmmm...

Underground toilets...the mind boggles - and all will probably be flushed into the sea somehow.

I don't understand why parents cannot identify when their kids are on drugs...unless they are also users.

It is a sad and sorry situation when people need to resort to suicide when there are so many others around who are willing to help. Surely...life is worth living.

We do have to laugh when al these alcohol bans come in. In all my years here in Bangkok, even on the no alcohol days, there was always somewhere to go for a beer...and there is always someone ready to sell you a beer. So, I don't see the need for ordering online...unless you want it delivered to your door - if you don;t have a vehicle to go and collect it.

Having not experienced that sort of Pattaya...it must be quite pleasant - no tourists shouting at their new 'girlfriends', no Russians walking round in department stores in their swimming gear, no drunks staggering around along beach road, no long lines of Chinese tourists, all with their hotel towels, following the tour guide along the road, no unlicenced motorcyclists (tourists) racing around the place...might just have to go down for a few days.

How many times now have they said this same thing?????

Basically, it is simply a case of, "don't do what I do, do what I say". Many others (Thais included) do much more damage to the "nature of the country".

Good luck with that one...

I have noticed one positive thing though - with the lack of tourists around, most taxis have taken me where I wanted to go. Previously, it sometimes took six to ten taxis before one would take us from home to Sukhumvit.

24 minutes ago, TTSIssues said:With all the hospitality staff out of work, rather than just giving them cash handouts, I wish the government would give them some other employment instead, in areas that are badly needed. For example, collecting rubbish, repairing / repainting schools and buildings, making the island look much more attractive than it currently does.
the govt should also use this period to be sorting out infrastructure - build some new water collecting dams, expand and fix the sewerage systems, replace all the hanging wires and bury them underground, install a proper public transport system (a proper bus network like we have in Hong Kong for example)
personally I think it’s great that construction has stopped on most of the new hotels which are clearly not needed, and never were. So we have armies of construction workers out of work. For goodness sake use them, and fix the infrastructure during this once in a lifetime opportunity !
Great comments...and I totally agree with all.

I have noticed over the past couple of weeks many places now are not screening temperatures of insisting on the wearing of face masks.

Let's just hope they manage to trace all who he has been in contact with...not that we are likely to come across them, unless they are released from jail. Or, unless the guards have got it as well - and they go to shopping malls, and their kids go to schools etc. etc. etc.

There are a few companies offering policies, but the premiums skyrocket with age and any other health issues.

If it is said that the place is almost back to normal, does that mean that the foreign tourists did not account for much of that figure?
I guess it will be super busy this weekend - was looking at hotels online and many were almost fully booked. -
OUCH...some interesting assumptions in reply to my last comment. I look at it along the lines of the fact that we are all guests in the country - and to follow any requirements (however odd they may appear to some) just seems to be the right thing to do.
I don't see the logic in linking this amount of money to salaries of any other people in any country - it is us as expats that are required to do this.
Nothing hi so about me...just an honest, decent chap.- 1

This money thing often crops up in forums...
800k is a paltry amount of money to keep in an account to ensure one can remain in the country. If people ares truggling to follow this, then surely they are not very well set for retirement.

It always seems to be the ones least affected by these issues who come up with the "not so bright" ideas.
