  1. It’s not that bad. Everyone will appreciate you are respecting the Thai people. It is their country. The only people I see not wearing masks are foreigner and it stresses the Thais out. The laws will change eventually.
  2. I guess a matter of opinion but the article was about fining tourists for not wearing a mask because it is Thai law. Right now. And tourist need to respect the law and Thai people or stay home. Or go somewhere else.
  3. I agree with you. However, real tourists come to Thailand to have a good time and enjoy themselves. It's impossible to list every law in Thailand, but the ones from the CCSA that are threatening to fine tourists should be posted somewhere on the Thailand Pass. Lot's of people don't wear masks in their home country and maybe the government is being naive thinking that all the tourists understand the complicated and ever changing Thai CCSA Thai laws. Agreed tourists should respect the Thais and the rules. Now Thais and local foreign residents have no excuse, the mask rule has been in our face for 18 months. Wear your mask when you are in public, period. I haven't seen any Thais or residents in my area "disobeying" the mask rules, only the tourists, and they should be reminded to be respectful, initially by the government in the Thailand Pass. My humble opinion.
  4. She must be Russian. That's what they all looked like at Makro last week.
  5. Doesn't it say anywhere on the Thailand Pass application what the Covid rules and regulations are in Thailand? There should be one of those disclaimer statements that you need to acknowledge like the airlines have on their website. Anyone know?
  6. Agreed 100% Shouldn't be eating that stuff. It will kill you, in my humble opinion.
  7. I was just at Makro shopping with all the high quality rich Russians and they all had their masks around their chins. Jesh. Decided I'm not going back there, too many other shopping options.
  8. I didn't say it was the best country. I said It was a joke about the beer. My point was that they had a simple solution to move people, travelers, tourists into the country. Simple. Never mind. Trying to make a joke when everyone is soooo serious.
  9. The United States just opened up to most international air travel. From what I believe all you need is a test and a vaccine certificate and a visa if you are coming from a visa required country. Simple. The airlines are starting to fly bigger airplanes. I'm not saying the United States is the best country or has the best solution, but hey....you can get a beer with lunch and the bars are open! Works for me.
  10. Tried Thailand Pass website 3x since 9:30am. Server down. ????
  11. I didn't object or argue. I was just surprised how hostile she was. She practically threw the passport at me. I always ask for a receipt for everything. Anyway, I did the follow up to mention that when going to a government office you probably should take just about everything you might need as far as paperwork goes, just in case. Trying to be helpful.
  12. I finally went to get my driver's license updated with my new passport #. They wanted a copy of my new passport data page, copy of my visa transfer stamps, my old driver's license AND a one of those residence papers with the photo and stamp from immigration. Not sure why I had to prove I live here when I did so last year. Luckily Phuket immigration is only 5 minutes away so drove over there. I have a folder with extra copies of things I think immigration may want, so I had a copy of my TM6, extra copy of my new passport, photo & something else they needed. Got a number and was called in a few minutes. The INTERESTING thing was when I gave all the papers to the girl behind desk #6 she asked me for 300 baht and I politely asked for a receipt. She got very defensive and hostile, shoved my passport back at me and said something like if I wanted a receipt I had to come back tomorrow (couldn't hear exactly what she said because of the mask and the plastic screen). So I gave her the 300 baht. Now I know that paper is supposed to be free, but what can you do? Come back tomorrow? I got to say, I was surprised by this behavior because overall most of the time the people at immigration are fairly nice and I always get a receipt when I submit my annual renewal for extension. Went back to get the DL and everyone was nice and efficient. 55 baht for the new driver's license AND a receipt. So I guess the answer to my own question is to bring copies of everything you ever thought a government office would possibly need plus 300 - 2,000 extra baht just in case. ????
  13. My neighbors had good teaching jobs lined up in China and was supposed to leave July but we’re told by the school not to bother to come. Not wanted. Not needed.
  14. Or their neighborhood store. It’s down right ridiculous and hurts the people that need to make money to survive. Makes me crazy.
  15. Didn't I say something earlier in this thread that Alcohol causes Covid (joking for those serious folks). I don't get it. Does the health department actually think that? I'm sorry but everyone knows where to buy Alcohol when there is an Alcohol ban. Anyway, did we ever find out about the quarantine rules? No quarantine if you have been vaccinated? One more question. If you need a stick up the nose test to get into Phuket and you are a vaccinated Phuket resident - can you get the test in Phuket, go to Phang Nga for a few days and show the test at the border, even though the test was taken in Phuket before you left the island and it has been less than 7 days? These rules are crazy.
  16. Well, I guess you didn't understand what I was saying, and I was trying to be funny, but everyone has a different sense of humor, don't they? But it doesn't matter anymore because I just read that the Phuket Governor just signed an order lifting the booze ban in Phuket (only) as of October 1. So me and the mrs. will be enjoying a cold one legally for the first time in months. Looking forward to that! Everyone enjoy! I hope you don't have to wait until the end of the Emergency Decree....which will be when? ????
  17. You didn’t read what I wrote. That isn’t what I said. This is why I hate writing on this forum. I said something like, a senior officer or deputy pm’s wife doesn’t like alcohol and she’s controlling the alcohol situation. But it’s probably fake news. The whole thing is fake and stupid news. Isn’t it. Have a nice alcohol and woman free night. You are an ……. Fine person. Good night.
  18. Emergency Decree until at least Nov. 30. No Alcohol. Alcohol spreads Corona Virus, didn't you know that? (this is a joke in case anything thinks I am serious). I read someone high up has a wife that doesn't like alcohol, so it's a SHE that controlling the ban? Probably Fake News, I guess. Phuket Governor just asked the CCSA to lift the ban on alcohol in Phuket. Reading the laundry list of requirements made me dizzy and I finally gave up and had to lay down and put a cold compress on my forehead. Good luck on implementing it. George Thorogood had a song called "I drink alone". Everyone better get used to it. Do I sound frustrated?
  19. Not true, 37,477 up to yesterday They are saying at least 50-70% are residents. I know of one person that is paying 400 THB a night to stay in a SHA hotel after returning from Europe. He goes home in the morning, eats at home, goes to work, eats at home and then spends the night at the hotel. Not generating a lot of income for the tourist industry. Another family of 4 in my neighborhood did the same thing, except the hotel let them actually sleep at their house. Personally I know at least 10 people that have done this since July. Multiply that by ? and how many are really tourists?
  20. Yeah. That’s what I think too. It’s ridiculous. I keep emailing the hospital and they say the vaccines are coming from the government ???????????? no where to go now anyway. I’d just like a beer with my lunch at this point ????
  21. What about Phuket? Still plenty of people not vaccinated in the sandbox. They say 70% of “target” group have been vaccinated. Retired people, read elderly, are not in the target group for Phuket it seems. Day 24 and my neighbors and I haven’t received an email yet.
