  1. I got mine in 18 days from post office to my house. Can’t guarantee but I was pleased. I renewed a year early so I wouldn’t have any problems. And there weren’t any. ☺️
  2. That's what I thought, but I hate to assume anything. Very good news indeed. The old rule was not well liked, was it?
  3. I noticed that too. It's an opening. I think....don't assume.... that Phuket immigration is so busy they don't want to be bothered. But again, if they are having a bad day or you aren't respectful you never know, do you.
  4. Phuket. There is a Phuket Immigration Volunteer website that I have emailed to confirm, but no answer. It's no rush for me but a few of my neighbors are panicking thinking they are in violation. I think the best idea is to ask when you get your single entry, that way the answer is "fresh". Thanks for the information.
  5. Thanks. I'll take it I only have to re-register if I move. But I'll ask at immigration when I get my single entry to confirm. This is great news. I had to re-register 2x within 3 weeks in 2019.
  6. Do you have to fill out a TM30 if you leave the country and return. I have read it is not necessary, only one time when you move only but I can't confirm this with anyone "official".
  7. I wasn't complaining, I was just making a comment when someone else said below. Higher price for ice. Why not. I know some places in USA have drink price for with and price for without ice
  8. You order an iced americano and it is always more expensive than a hot americano. Everywhere in Thailand
  9. Saw him in San Jose (California) in 1973. Unbelievable. Leon Russell was playing the same night somewhere else. Although I missed seeing Leon, Jeff was a classic and was very glad I made the decision to hear him play. The tough decisions we make when we are 17. ???? Those were the days.
  10. No, Non-O since 2016. Don't know about the insurance. There is a website called Phuket Immigration Volunteers which has a lot of information. I'm just wondering if the letter and book balance has to be on same day as my visit to immigration for renewal as I've always done it the day before the visit and the website says it recommends to do the same day. This is the only new thing I saw on the website. I like to get to immigration about 8;15 and get it over as fast as possible.
  11. Yes. I always do. I guess I’m wondering if the bank letter and bank balance update has to be on the same day as application to immigration. They know BB 12 month statement can’t be same day. I’ve always done the letter and book update 1-2 days in advance so I can go to immigration early in the morning. Has anyone had a issue with this. Thanks.
  12. I'm renewing my retirement extension in about 2 months in Phuket. In the past 7-8 years the officers allowed 7 days for the bank paperwork to be dated so you could have a day or two to get to Phuket immigration. Max 7 days for the bank papers and with updated bank book on the application date and please make sure that both bank certificate and statement have the same balance I just went on the Phuket immigration volunteer website and they mention the 7 days, but this is also added. But it is highly advised to obtain all the bank papers on the day of the application as this can be required by the immigration office Has anyone in Phuket had this requirement asked of them? Or is it still 7 days. It's just I have Bangkok Bank and they take a few days to get the paperwork done. Trying to avoid any surprises or stress Thanks.
  13. Just renew your passport now. It will give you peace of mind. I renewed a whole year in advance. It was during covid and things were dodgy then, but I felt better having in my hand about 3 weeks later. No worries.
  14. And all these tourism staff have friends and relatives that ARE NOT in the tourism sector. Not that I am promoting more vaccines, and I am not, but these tourism staff do not live in a bubble. If you are going to have a vaccine program for the tourism staff you need to have a program for everyone. DUH. I can't believe what I read some days.
  15. Then DO NOT go to Nai Harn Beach and Rawai. I went there for about 5 minutes yesterday, it was totally insane. I heard Kata and Karon are bad too. I just wrote on another post that groups of Russians are renting long term rentals, putting first & last month deposit and leaving after 2 months. Not long term, or going from one long term rental to another to avoid hotel bills and the Tm? (can't remember the number) that hotels has to submit to the government. Property owners need to beware.
  16. Yesterday I heard from a neighbor that several groups of Russian men (in Phuket) in our neighbor have put first and last rent down on long term rent and leaving after the second month. I wonder how many times this has happened in the past few months?
  17. Some of the long term renters really only want to stay for 90 days in the winter. First & Last rent deposit forfeited and 3 months rent ( 5 months total) can be cheaper than a hotel in high season and a kitchen to cook their food a bonus. If I was renting a unit long term I'd want to make sure the renters had a bonafide visa so they wouldn't skip out after 90 days.
  18. I may be naive, I only use my phone to pay my water and electricity bills (at home with my secure wi-fi) But if you to a restaurant and use your phone to pay how do you tip if you are cashless? I always like to leave a small tip. Just curious because pretty much a cash and carry person. Thank you.
  19. This was quite shocking when I first arrived here to live. One example, I was returning a bike lock that broke the first time I used it to lock my fence while I was away. The customer service manager at H----o called me a liar and accused me of breaking the lock because it was only supposed to be used on a bike, not a fence. . WHAT. I ended up getting my money back, only after I took pictures of her and sent it to home office. It is almost impossible to return items there, you get the 3rd degree everytime, like it is their personal money. Maybe they get docked pay for return items???
  20. What a pain. I try to spot the people trying to pay for their items with their phone and get in another line. One day I pulled out a 100 THB and gave it to the guy because he was there so long.
  21. Exactly like in the book This Perfect Day. Yikes. And if you want to be creative and buy items to do some sketching and you aren't deemed an artist by the committee, the scanner won't let you buy them. Cash is King!
  22. a fictitious prose narrative of book length, typically representing character and action with some degree of realism.
  23. Have you read the futuristic novel "This Perfect Day" by Ira Levin? That is exactly what they did. When I first saw barcodes on products I thought.... it's starting.
  24. When I was in elementary school in the USA in the 60s they told us we would be converting to the metric system soon.???? Still waiting.????
