They do not care about you.

Currently, this is correct.  It's unethical and they will have no ill feelings if something bad happens to you.   I've seen it, and the school officials laughed as my friend flew home.  Slightly different situation, whatever.

BUT........IF you are a great teacher and can make the school money (private school, start applying), then they will REALLY care about you.  You can make them a lot of money if you take a good picture (yea, I'm not talking about teaching, the picture is easily the most important thing..if you're ugly, you are doomed, doomed, doomed).

Do some online teaching videos and send us the youtube links.......we will troll them, but don't take it too personally.  constructive criticism.  lol.  but if they are great, i'm sure you will hear that as well....

forget about how many errors you make when typing..........this isn't a job interview or a test.........l;asjdflksfjsdl;fjsdflsjfl;fjdslkf;jdflks;djf;lfjdfkld   (correct that)

    Read and heed.

so you're saying he should go for it and work in Thailand?

sorry, you were not very clear in your message.

    hahahhhahahhahhahahahahaaha

actually, i think the fine for the school is 400,000.  maybe

there are sooo many people working here with fake degrees, no work permits, fake certificates.....AND the schools know.

Maybe 2 out of 15,000 get caught a year........

i've seen MANY times schools are called BEFORE immigration shows up to check.  it's a community, parents don't want their school busted.

of course it was ME who had to talk to them because I was really educated.  just another clown show for clowns who are paid less than a homeless toilet cleaner in the middle of the desert.  not supposed to make sense, i guess.  lol

  3. this really is the downside to relationships on a deep level........when they go bad,  i guess our brain goes from great to horrible.  a few typical catalysts.....  love, money, kids, or a combination......

even if it was another guy (likely a guy), still likely over money or love....

47 and 51.  not young.   goes to show, emotions run deep at all ages.  wish we could just click the "mai bpen rai" button in our brains......

  4. in my opinion, people only sort-of care about 2000 to 3000.

2000/70000000  just isn't making everyone wear masks.  Every day I see 40 people half wearing them or not wearing them.......

2000 seems like the new normal.

i'm not in a deep red zone............

get the jab.....save a life.    and give each kid you see 1000 Thai you stingy falangs!!!  lol

I'm in Quarantine  in Bkk as we speak & due to be leave on the 29th , I live in a village around 50km from chiang rai & will fly to cr from bkk,

Surely someone who has done the mandatory  14 days quarantine  then fly to cr doesn't  then have to do another 14 days quarantine  THATS CRAZY

will have to show their COVID-free certificate, to prove that they have been cleared of the disease with a RT PCR or Antigen Rapid Test not more than 72 hours before their arrival in Chiang Rai province, and to show the proof that they have received two doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

just do this........  if not, more quarantine.  do 1000-day quarantine to keep the Thais safe, as this is not your country....rules are rules.  break them, deported, quarantine again....lol     2022 better time to come to Thailand.  now it's difficult, the world is in chaos!!!!!

    That, obviously, might include you?

Of course not!!!! How dare you!!!!  Defamation of the highest order!!!!  hahahahhaahaha

Bro, I'm currently in a submarine 10,000 kms from your location and have only learned about Thailand through TVF.

Over 1500 posts and I can't find Thailand on a map.  I think it's next to Mongolia but I can't read!!!!

Now, if you say you saw me in Pattaya on Soi 7 at 1:34 a.m. last night, I have an alibi!!

you did say "might," so you are forgiven.         zen...........

  8. get a work permit with a language center.  they don't call you a teacher, but like a speaker or something.  then you work for the school.  seen in before down south.

not a fan of "teachers" "educating" students if they haven't valued education themselves.  not the best role model, not inspirational.  I don't see any credibility.  How can you tell a student that education is important.  Especially if you are from America; people in America without degrees are really looked down upon.  lol.  I digress.

Note:  This was eight years ago, of course things could have changed 100x.

  9. another experience from two "friends".  they helped a place, had work permits....everything was fine until both parties complained against each other.  then the police showed up twice to talk to the falang and check everything.  soon the falangs went to a different province.    tons of stress.  the falangs had no chance.  they didn't go to labor

only say positive things.  be professional.  i know that can be hard when you feel there has been an injustice.

I was very, very calm.  However, with a smile, I asked, "can you just tell them to pay the contract?"   no response.  i smiled some more.

anyhow, curious to hear from others who went to court.

    It is true.

Unfortunately, in your case it appears things were not explained to you properly.

The first stage of the process is a form of arbitration, where both parties sit with a Court appointed arbitrator and try to agree a compromise. Neither party is obliged to compromise, but in some cases a party might choose to. This process takes place to free up Court time.

If neither party can agree a compromise then the case will be presented in front of a judge and the Court will make an order.

In cases where the employer has not paid the contracted amount there is no need to compromise as the Court will order the outstanding amount be paid.

it was my first complaint, and it definitely didn't make me feel better and put a good taste in my mouth

let me think....they owed me over 100,000 and we agreed on 30,000.   i remember telling them, pay me what the contract says and kept telling the labor department to enforce the contract......... blank stares.  then they said i can sue them in BKK.........they said it will take a long time and be expensive.

i tried to talk to them for about an hour.....in Thai, English, whatever....but i left with the feeling that nobody is helping me.

curious to hear from other's experiences.........of course some things are lost in translation, except the final result.  clearly one party didn't care about a contract.  that made me think.....

The OP will not have to sue their employer in Bangkok themselves.

The Department of Labour Protection and Welfare will summon the employer to the Labour Court, for free.

    that might be true.

in my case, i was not told this.  i was told i would have to spend my own money and go to BKK and sue them...

i certainly asked them to enforce my contract, but i was told i had to meet with my employer and we had to agree on something.  i told them the contract is exactly that and i just want what the contract says.....blank stares.....

also, in my case, English wasn't good.

They are very fair and will ensure that you receive the salary you are contacted to receive.

    experience here.

salary was NOT ensured.......  got about 30% of what was on the contract in the end.

or told to sue them in BKK

i told them both.  look, contract, both signed.....they won't pay me what we agreed on.

again, i got 30% because i knew complaining wasn't helping me at all......surprised they paid me at all.

seems like you burned your bridges already....so they might just tell you to sue them in BKK and let us know how that goes....

  13. Forget all your googling and "logic" and "common sense" you think you have...

This is how the world works!!!  In general, The rich get richer.  The poor are poor for a reason.

Things can be confusing much longer that you can possibly understand.

The Illuminati can send the Thai baht to, say 100/USD.  You will spew nonsense from 35 to 99......not understanding anything.

same as Bitcoin...........at $5000 is was "the biggest bubble in the history of the planet!!!"

If you are the Illuminati, then I'll listen......

He wants 50 baht per bike.

if we allow this, we are allowing every person to demand money and disregarding Thai laws....don't worry, the police are reading these posts.......so that's good.

then the big crackdown will happen........

falangs coming to Thaiand and think they are above the law.....think they can work illegally and nothing will happen to them.....oh they are wrong!!!

send him a message, let him know he's breaking the law.  ask for work permit info.  If he gets aggressive, then you know this behavior will get soooo much worse.

he is not asking nicely, i suspect...

    he WANTS.....

gives all of us such a bad name.........

  15. Report to police.  He is trying to take money from Thais!!!!  In a time of need, during COVID......50 baht can buy a bowl of noodle soup for two Thais.......

Use that number to report falang.  He is breaking the law!!!

Plus I want to see his picture and we can troll him when he gets arrested.

If not, you are a conspirator .....

    no work permit, no work!!!!!

Next thing he will want is 100 baht, then 500, then all your money!!!!!!!!!!!!  lol
