  1. My point was yes, the AC usage increased to keep up with the heat, although I only used it after dark until 5 AM the next morning, as usual, and I didn't use the pump to water the grass but two times , instead of around 18 or so a month like usual, and I was not home 9 days last month, which altogether should have reduced my power consumption. It did say it increased 61 units, which should have cost 285 baht, which would have made the bill around 1785 and not 2000, so something is wrong somewhere.
  2. Meaning they are measured the same, units used, power consumption.
  3. Of course PEA gave me a bill, just like all the bills for the last 6 plus years. Electric bills go up a lot, and many people wonder why. You actually trust an electric company to be totally honest? Bills for electricity are based in Texas as they are here. Mine and a few others in my neighborhood's bill rose a few times when the usage was the same as the months before. Their explanation was they had to pay more from where they got their electricity. This does not explain why just a few people I talked to had bills that were higher with the same usage and others did not rise. Like I said. I did not water my grass but two times last month. I usually water it every other day, using my pump. I did not have to refill my water tank as much also, using less electricity. My lawn is very large and includes trees. The heat was higher last month than usual, so I did use more AC, but with less pump usage and the fact I wasn't home for 9 days, the bill should have been much the same as the month before, or even less. Not 500 baht more. Like I also said, I will go to PEA and compare the last few months bills for usage and see what they say, but again, I don't think I'll get the answer I expect. Electric companies are a business, and as many businesses worldwide, they are out to make money, and some aren't honest when they do business, especially when it involves thousands of people. Texas didn't have a legitimate explanation to answer why our bills went up when they should have matched others in our area, especially when ours and their usage was about the same. There was two I remember who's bills went up over a hundred dollars, and one wasn't home that month. The other said his usage was much the same as before. The one who wasn't home had his bill lowered, and they didn't explain what happened. The other's bill wasn't changed, which also shows things aren't just rotten in Denmark. Meters can and do malfunction, so that's another thing I'll have checked. A few of my neighbors back home had the same problem, and sometimes it was the meter, which was switched. They got a refund also. The bill said I used 61 more units this month than the last month's bill, which means my bill should have increased about 285 baht. What I do find strange, is that most of your posts are ones that stick up for anything Thai, and what I think you don't understand, is that this country is more corrupt than most others worldwide, which means it entails money being made any which way, because a poor country has this happening for many reasons, one of which is plain greed.
  4. I didn't suggest anything. I saw my bills in Texas rise for no reasons they gave except they had to pay more for electricity themselves, which they could exaggerate. If a company wanted to screw you, they could make a lot of money on everyone and no one would be the wiser. I don't know what others in the village are paying besides my next door neighbor, who is a relative of sorts, and my ex's mom's house.
  5. Meter is down the street about 300 meters. I use one AC unit, only when I'm sleeping. The same lifestyle all 6 years. This is why I said the bill has never been higher than 1500, and that's been only once in 6 years. It's usually from 500-1200, mean about 800. I only use a fan while watching TV, and that's been unchanged also. No other big electric users besides fridge. It jumped 500 baht from last month's bill, which was 1500. This year has been hotter on average but still the bill did not rise that much until this last month, and I wasn't home at least 9 days and did not water but two times, unlike every other day. I wasn't here that whole month of November last year and it still was over 1000 baht so something is off. Looking at my usual usage over the years it looks like something is off certain times, and this happened a few times wen I lived in Texas, and they always had an excuse for it, while some others bills didn't rise in the same neighborhood those times (friends). My next door neighbor's bill has changed very little over this time. They don't have AC, only fans, kids, TV, etc, and their bills are usually around the same, so this is about my house, and it isn't happening all the time, which leaves out some monthly ghost draw. I'm going to talk to PEA, but this will probably go nowhere, as do most things involving foreigner's complaints here. This is why I'm asking others to see if their bills these last two months have been very high.
  6. My PEA bill usually fluctuates from around 500 to 1500, which was last month and was the highest ever in 6 years. I've been thinking my bills haven't been right for a long time, just like back in Texas, where they rose very high with no more usage a few times, and it was the meter that was wrong or something else I never figured out. This month it was almost 2000 baht. I usually water my grass from my well, from a water tank I fill up. This past month I only watered two times, and wasn't home at least 9 days that month, meaning the only usage was my refrigerator those 9 days. When I left to visit the states last November, nothing was used besides that refrigerator and the bill was still over 1000 baht, which is impossible because I wasn't home for over 30 days. I'm the only farang in our village and my bill is always higher than anyone else's, but this time I know there's something wrong, as I water my grass every other day when it's not raining, and my bill was never over 1500 baht. Now , with only those 2 watering days, using my pump, it's almost 2000 baht, so, even though it was a little hotter than normal, it's still never been higher than that 1500 baht, and usually around 1200 a month. Anyone else's bill from PEA last month go up that 500 baht or more?
  7. No one at the age of 8 understands much about religion, God, Buddha or any other entities, and couldn't make a decision not to believe in any of them, unless they were coerced by someone not to. The age of reason starts at 8, and this is just when you start to understand about things that are regarded as fantasies as only that and not reality. Anything other then the true God is just false gods people made up for want of a higher power, for something to believe in living in a world full of doubt. The Quran only teaches violence for self defense, and not against anyone who isn't threatening a Muslim. I think you're just an AngryMan looking to vent.
  8. No, you have that wrong. The one who created everything was here before man. When you die, you can ask him about everything, because we all talk to God. ..........
  9. One could say picking the wrong girl and living in Isaan.
  10. Except the one real God, who created us.
  11. A religion that looks at women as inferior isn't respect for others.
  12. The one that created everything, not the many created by man so they could believe in something.
  13. Yes, clinical or major depression, is real. Like mentioned, everyone gets depressed at times, especially living in a world full of problems. Some stay depressed much longer. Everyone gets the blues. This is why there are many songs about being down. Listening to them, you can relate, seeing others are also feeling like you are, and it helps drive the blues away. Some, like my daughter, cousin, girlfriend, a wife before, and a best friend who took his own life, have (had) major depression. The best thing you can have is someone who is there to support you, just to be there to talk to, and who will listen, trying not to give much advice but just to listen. Talking , like talk therapy for depression, is one way for a person suffering to relate and to get their negative feelings out, because keeping them in and thinking too much is one way to make it worse. Some respond to medication, as long as it's the right one, to help with symptoms. Millions suffer from clinical depression, and it's one reason relationships fail, have problems, and people lose their lives. My best friend had everything a man could want. A pretty, loving wife, house, car, job, hobbies and many friends. What he didn't have, back then, in 1987, was someone who understood what he was going through, and maybe get him to a doctor and on something to help with his symptoms. I always remembered going to his house when we were young. He would be asleep in the middle of the day, many times, and this, although we (I) didn't know it then, is a major symptom of clinical depression. He was always a class clown, like a Robin Williams, and we know what happened with him. People have many ways to help themselves to feel better, and some are dangerous. Buying a lot of things, especially online, is one. Having sex a lot helps them feel something else. Drinking and drugs, self medication, is two more. Many think tomorrow will be worse than today, and think there's only one way out. They can't see past their negative feelings, not understanding tomorrow might bring about a change in their thinking, their brain chemistry, to see things just a little better. Recognizing they have a problem and wanting things to be better is the best first step in getting help. My daughter likes to smoke weed, and this helps her cope. I've tried to tell her to talk to someone, but it hasn't happened yet. Her mom, my ex girlfriend, has it, and drives a truck, which helps her to stay focused on making money to live, and it takes up much of her time. Her mother had it, and was a real piece of work, causing a lot of problems in my ex's and my life, both before we met and after. Her dad had it, and hung himself when she was little. My late cousin had it, and his marriage suffered, until he got on some meds, and it changed his whole life, until he passed from cancer two years ago. This disease has major effects on the world today, and people hurt others and themselves because of it. There is always a better way, as long as you think about tomorrow, and understand it can be a better day.
  14. The other day you were in Pattaya? I thought you were in the Philippines. Or I guess the other day could be back in March.
  15. Actually from a non belief in God to a belief in God, but could have been done in a better way, by encouragement and teaching. This might lead the boy to turn away from God, as other parents have done in other religions and beliefs, by force and not by wisdom.
  16. Yes, in a forensic toxicology lab.
  17. Until the next time it returns and maybe bites you, your wife or a child, who has to get to a hospital very quickly or they will die.
  18. Five against one and the victim is stabbed in the back and you're rooting for a gang of cowards?
  19. I only had one good reason to remove my daughter from this country, and that was to give her a better , safer, life back home in the US, along with better schooling and job prospects. Reasons to move have increased exponentially in the last 6 years I've lived here. Thailand being a major trafficking country is one of them. People killing each other, like this, daily, over little to nothing is another. Daily traffic deaths is another, along with how women are looked at here by the men. Now there's another, me finding out my ex wife's boyfriend, because she wouldn't answer her phone when he called, choked her when she was at the bus stop to come back from Pattaya, where he lives and works, after visiting him, and threatened her, her family and my daughter. He doesn't realize what will happen if he tries anything with my daughter, as do many non thinkers here, but the reasons increase weekly here.
  20. A couple posts ago you said you were in the Philippines last year. So you're back now? But a few posts before that, you said you were in Pattaya, and a few before that, you were mopping floors in Australia. I wish I could travel on such a salary.
  21. You're talking about a few hundred out of 35 million. There are many boys here that do not have fathers, or at least real men as fathers, who teach them to be men. Many learn from friends in the same positions, as can be seen when a group needs to gang up on one armed with weapons and kick them when they're down. A real father doesn't teach their sons this behavior, but how to fight fairly and also how to treat others, especially women.
  22. Actually, as history has proven, the majority of wealthy people are the ones that are causing the most environmental damage, along with thinking they are somehow better than all the others, which translates into being someone with narcissistic personality disorder, the bane of society. Of course, there are some who put money towards environmental concerns, animal concerns and those who suffer ailments, though these are few. Although all humans are equal in God's eyes, these types are the opposite of what you call better.
  23. It has nothing to do with a clean environment but food and shelter. If they can get in, they will. Rats are everywhere, as well as mice.
  24. Rats and mice don't just enter dirty places. If they smell food, in any house, they will try and get in, and the opening only has to be the size of a quarter, so sealing any holes has to be done. Having cats helps of course. Sticky traps are the way to go, although not really humane, but vermin do not belong in a house so that's the only way to go if you have cats, because spring traps might catch them. Poisoning isn't good also, because, as stated, they will die in the walls or attic and smell awful for quite awhile. Poisoning outside doesn't work because it kills domestic animals also. Also, like mentioned, poisoning kills them in the house, where they die and can't always be located, and this attracts other rats. If you catch them, find a local that will take them, as they eat rats here all over.
