Do any Farangs actually choose to live in Isaan?
There's no way in telling how a place is unless you spend a few months in it. Visiting a bar, noodle shop and a 7-11 isn't going to give you a complete picture on the town's scene, or what it has to offer. I live 30 kilos from a main town in Sisaket province, and have been there hundreds of times (literally), and still don't know near all the places to eat or visit, and even my ex, who has lived around here for 43 years, minus a few stints in a few other towns to work, didn't know of a couple of restaurants and places I asked her about in this town. Every town in Thailand has much the same things. A Tesco, or a Big C, Makro, movie theater, hundreds of noodle shops, coffee shops, Farang bars and restaurants, 7-11's and Temples. I've been to quite a few of the larger towns and they all appear the same. Thais like to have what they need close by, and all follow suit, as the culture dictates, along with their needs as Thais. Villages of course all look the same, and have the same things. A few noodle shops, a coffee shop or two, a Wat, public hall, a school,a preschool (or at the Wat), and rice fields. Ubon has the same as Bueng Kan, Nong Khai, Roi Et, Mukdahan,Sisaket, Khon Kaen, etc with a few variables. As far as girls, they all had pretty, not so pretty, and grandmas. And maniacs driving up to 5 on a scooter without helmets.

Do any Farangs actually choose to live in Isaan?
I moved here because my now ex didn't want to move to the US, saying she wanted to be near her family, who she really doesn't care for much anyway. Made a mistake, should have convinced her otherwise, as now I'm waiting for the right time to move back with my daughter. She wants to come back, but the trust is gone. She doesn''t have tats , nor does anyone else in our village, as i can see. Much of the population here stays right here, and only those that have had kids, with Thai boyfriends that have left, choose to go to the big cities to work, leaving their kids with grandma. And yes, it is boring here, and that's another reason I will move.

Went there on my honeymoon and if it was any other time, it would have been blase. When you look out from Patong's beach towards the Andaman Sea, it looks nice, especially if you're a romantic like myself that loves the oceans wonders, and fisherman who dreams of the huge fish one can catch out there. But when you turn around, all you see are hotels ganged up next to each other, and thousands of people all lumped together. I did have a good time going to a pay and fish and caught some huge catfish and carp, and the food was okay, but would never go again. I have only been to one island, Koh Chang, and that has appeal, along with other islands out there that are not so crowded others I know have been to. I can't understand people, many of whom have beaches where they're from, that are far less crowded, that come here and are surrounded by walls of tourists. Some beaches do look scenic, but the crowds take that away when you're there.

Bob, I've been wondering if your wife can read English. If so, she must know about Asean forums, although she wouldn't know your handle here. If she did, she might post something like, "My dirty farang husband cheated on me for the last time, now I took his handle to warn others of the wrath of a Thai woman scorned".

I actually know full well what goes on wrong here, but if Thailand had hunting and Bass, Pike, Trout, and other US fishing, it wouldn't be as bad for me, although getting my daughter back to the states is a priority for her welfare and future. It is very quiet where I live, too quiet actually, but I can understand if that's what a man would want, and not have hobbies like mine, along with having a good looking, faithful, and loyal wife, he could find peace here

Do any Farangs actually choose to live in Isaan?
I'm in Sisaket, and I've seen for over 6 years here, along with Ubon province, women as good looking as anywhere else in Thailand. Many without makeup and lighter skinned. My ex was the prettiest woman in our area, light skin, looking like a blend of Thai and something else. Been to Bangkok many times, A few islands, other provinces, and have seen women posted from all over, including some back in Texas. Isaan has some beauties, but they know it, and the ones that don't feel the need to sell their wares, meaning the intelligent ones with no damage, aren't easy to fool. Money will of course attract some, but if they are independent, they will prefer their own most of the time.

Isaan is a group of provinces, and a foreigner cannot own land anywhere in Thailand outright.

Best solution for enlarged prostate that blocks urinating
Like I said, there are times when a period may last longer than 2 weeks, but that's up to a professional to decide, and many doctors are quick to prescribe without thinking, or caring, of the after affects. Your body can get used to taking them, and after awhile, they either may not work, or the side effects can be dangerous. I'm not a real believer in doctors prescribing habits, although they are necessary much of the time.

tap water
Yes, read it again. Water FILTERS utilizing UV ray technology, which can remove dirt, bacteria, viruses. Again, the FILTER removes the dirt, among other things, the UV removes other things. Not hard to understand everything designed into the filter removes everything, or mostly everything. I used them in my house before. Water was very clean of all contaminants.

Antibiotics should only be taken for at most two weeks. Taking them longer leads to bacteria become resistant to antibiotics. They also cause stomach problems. Only rarely will a doctor prescribe them for an infection lasting longer.

tap water
It states that water filters utilizing UV ray technology, will remove dirt, bacteria, viruses and chemicals, meaning the filter itself removes some, while UV helps with others. The UV doesn't remove sediment, the filter does. And boiling does not remove everything, just the bacteria, viruses and parasites.

Been weight training over 50 years, following a very healthy diet, including fish, chicken, beef, vegetables, whole grains, fruits, salads, low fat, no dairy besides occasional yogurt, coffee, tea, water, no sugar drinks, no extra sugar, and supplements. Never been overweight. When I hit 50 or so, it started, just as it does for everyone, and some days it's hard to get flow started, and go usually 2 times a night, although sometimes more than 4. Just happens, and I will be looking into taking something soon, as it's a pain in the arse that we all must face.

Pratumnak soi 5 nice Sunset...but
Playing loud music in public, meaning overly loud, is rude, yet it happens every morning in about every village in Thailand. I understand most farmers do wake early, but a lot of older people don't, including farangs, yet it continues. Some like to sleep late, but it isn't possible because of this. I wake early, so it doesn't affect me anyway, but I understand that it does bother many here. What some consider corny rock music might be good music that some might not understand, because they like pop or other styles. I don't know what music was played, so I can't assume. Thai music, although some is okay, especially traditional, isn't that good, with the words not matching the music because of the way they copy western pop music and the fact it doesn't flow right with their language. People who understand music will understand this. This is blasted all over Thailand and no one cares. Some people work nights and need to sleep during the day, and I've seen this everywhere I've gone. This isn't allowed in the US, with areas set aside away from homes for concerts, and playing past a certain time, or too loud near homes, will get you warned, then fined if it continues. In any event, people should respect others around them, even if it doesn't happen here.

What is wrong with working until you die?
Actually the food is never a problem. My girlfriend is a great cook and the food I get at restaurants is fine. I ate Thai for years before I moved here, and it was in restaurants in the San Antonio area which are all good. Their cooks were mostly from Thailand. It's the boredom and all the other crapola that goes on here that's not for me, nor for my daughter.

What is wrong with working until you die?
If I was to stay here, I would install those. Power back home rarely went out more than three times a year, and never daily for a few seconds. They have competent workers in the US, better equipment and maintenance. Here, just one look at the poles with all the wires shows what kind of thinking goes on, and the price a few pay every year from electrocution. Reminded me of a post I read recently................https://bk.asia-city.com/city-living/news/31-ways-to-die-bangkok

What is wrong with working until you die?
Going back is only a mistake if you let it be one. I'll be returning as soon as I can, getting a rent to own and working part time with a relative I worked with before. I can hunt again, fish wherever I want, and see my daughter has a much better schooling than she would get here, and not suffer the prejudice a half Thai gets. There's very little for me here, it's been as boring as it can be, more than any period of my life. The few foreigners that live anywhere close are usually into going to bars, which isn't my thing, so it's only once in awhile we get to talk at their homes, which is nice. I have to endure a daily power outage for a few seconds, which is totally unnecessary and shuts off my computer, where I have to reload everything. The power goes off weekly for hours, mainly because of a lack of maintenance and bad equipment. Wifi is fair at best, being a few hundred meters too far for a box, so I have to rely on a hotspot. Neighbors are no closer than 200 meters, ex wife's cousins, who are nice but can speak little English, so it's just a few words now and then. I have a lake 50 meters from my house that's devoid of fish because of an un regulated country. Everything's allowed to be netted out. Watching dvd's helps pass the time, and I can spend time with my girlfriend on weekends, so that's okay also. If I could leave today we would. Re locating means shipping everything I own back to a house I'm secured in, getting my daughter enrolled in school there young enough so she can learn everything in English and won't be behind. It will be worth it as this has never been home to me. I will have Medicare. My daughter will be treated as an equal there, and not an outsider, and we will have family and friends very close by. I understand some like it here because they don't have outdoor hobbies and are okay with the bar scene, and, or are okay with staying home, hopefully, with a decent wife or girlfriend. There are some nice places to visit here, and other Asian countries I will visit before I move back, so that's how I will pass some of the time while still here. One thing I can say about living where I am is that it's quiet, although the dogs, besides one now, that have called my house a home have been poisoned by some disturbed farmer, and I don't like living around sick anti social people who think nothing of killing domestic animals because they weren't raised by normal parents who valued life.

Dating with Dan. Help the Goat find a Good Thai Woman
Besides using plastic, the best way is to avoid the sun, use lotions, exercise, sleep, reduce stress (hard to do here) and most important eat healthy always. Genetics is most of it, as there are people who do everything wrong and live to 100, and some that do everything right and don't make 50.

How to deal with a chicken problem
What I posted is just common sense everyone should go by to avoid being a victim. I fear nothing but worrying about my family. I'm a hunter, was a gun salesman, and have been around guns all my life. It's just sensible to avoid getting into a situation with someone who has a gun. Better to walk away unless you or yours are being threatened. If that happens, you end it any way you have to. Discretion is the better part of valor. I know what I would do if I was confronted, but hopefully it never comes to that before I move from here. The roads here are as deadly as anywhere I've driven, and avoiding an accident is almost a weekly thing.

Men only age well if they take care of themselves all their lives. Same with women. I've seen some women in their 60's that look 40, and some 40 that look 60. Too much sun, like many here get, takes away their youth .

That's what that thinking does to a man. He can't look at one woman as number one and only. He died missing her I'm sure. I would always hear him say her name, knowing full well she was number one to him. Just couldn't settle down because of his ego, that which ruined him.

How would you ascertain that I'm unlovable? That was never a problem. They knew how to love, cook, clean and have sex. What they didn't know was how to let go of baggage acquired in their childhoods. Narcissism isn't curable, and it has you waste many years with a person who hates themselves too much to really love you. Failure only happens when you give up. That I'll never do.
