  1. If the laptop is pretty old it could have a 100Mbps ethernet port maybe? Check the link speed in network properties.
  2. Come on OP, don't leave us hanging! Why did you want the disc?
  3. OP - glad you made the (correct) decision to re-format, it was definitely too far gone. Have you considered mobile banking going forward? It's pretty convenient and once set up you probably won't need to remember passwords etc., you can use fingerprint or PIN authentication. Also, I would suggest using a password manager to help remember banking details etc. Bitwarden is a decent free one.
  4. Yeah, that's not right. Almost any integrated graphics can handle 4K resolutions easily, even on multiple monitors, for desktop usage (not gaming though). Also disagree about monitors, I bet if you walk into any standard office the vast majority will still be using HD monitors and no more. Same for home users too, unless they're "enthusiasts". OP, sounds like you made a bad choice, talking about immediately upgrading the PC as soon as you bought it. You should have paid more and chosen one with more suitable components.
  5. I think this thread proves that ASEAN Now is a terrible place to ask for IT advice ????
  6. Don't even consider one with HDD instead of SSD, absolutely no point in doing that in 2022. I also wouldn't recommend 4GB of RAM these days. That leaves the other two, which will work, although if bumping up the budget to 20,000 then I think it would make sense because these are still pretty low-end.
  7. That's interesting, if I ping my home router in UK (not London) from here in BKK I get 201 - 203ms right now. But sometimes it is around 300ms, I am not sure why. I guess it depends on some ISP routing. There is fibre-to-the-premises on both sides, which might help a bit.
  8. Can you tell us the name of the app / website you will actually be using? All these ideas are just based on various assumptions. You won't be using a leased line, I am sure of that. I am no trader but I can't imagine latency of 200 - 300ms (which is what I typically see between here and UK) will make any significant difference. We're talking well under half a second here. Surely it's not that time critical?
  9. How exactly are you going to be receiving this data from London? Knowing that might help understand what might be the best solution (if one is indeed required, which I doubt).
  10. Depends on the kind of content and where your audience is located.
  11. As usual, the answer is: "it depends". The answer for you is probably: not a lot, unless you're getting serious views.
  12. Windows is great for flexibility but terrible as a "Couch OS" though. Correct me if I'm wrong but you have to use keyboard and mouse.
  13. Alternative approach - go on Fiverr, post a "request" explaining in detail what you are trying to do, a few people will come back to you with quotes.
  14. Yes, absolutely possible to have a website at a later date. Domain registration, email and web hosting are all separate services although you can get them through the same company if you wish. ionos might be good for you - maybe check them out?
  15. Renting your own server does not guarantee privacy, similarly, using a commercial service does not necessarily mean it is not private. The fact that OP is asking how to have an email on his own domain suggests that renting a dedicated server is not likely to be a suitable solution. I think some domain registrars offer email for "free" (e.g. Ionos) or at least at a low cost when you register with them. Do you have any preference on which app or web interface you use to access the email or is it not important?
  16. Seems half the people in this forum insist on using it for some reason ????‍♂️
  17. The Lazada website on desktop browsers is a hot mess. I guess they don't care and want everyone to use the mobile apps.
  18. It's supported if you have ESM. Do you have that? If not, it's not supported. And, as you can see, using old software introduces bugs of its own... Without Firefox updates it's likely that you'll get more and more issues going forward.
  19. OK. I think you have to update Firefox then. If that is not straightforward because it's an old version of Ubuntu, then update Ubuntu. You mentioned that Ubuntu 16.04 is LTS - from what I can see, Ubuntu 16.04 is end of life, unless you specifically sign up for Extended Security Maintenance. This seems to be free for personal use, but you have to register. Why not just upgrade?
  20. Can you hotspot to your phone and test in a private browsing session in Firefox to see whether it's the same behaviour or not on a different internet connection?
  21. You mentioned about trying to update Firefox - have you tried it yet? And yes, like someone mentioned, Firefox uses its own root certificate store rather than the OS's which may (or may not!) be relevant.
  22. Don't even think about buying a computer of any kind with a mechanical hard drive in 2022, no matter the price. ????‍♂️
  23. Seeing as no-one else has given the correct answer to this: Your email has been compromised (i.e. someone has the password). If you still have access then log in and reset your password to something unique immediately. Check "filters" in settings as I suspect you will find the rule there that is sending your emails to deleted items - this was done by the hacker so you didn't notice any replies to messages he's sending. Also consider warning anyone you regularly email that they may have received scam messages that appear to be from you. If you use the same password onother services then change those too.
