  1. The spiel that the deputy governor came out with a few days ago has made zero difference to the poor air quality. Usual lip service to the press/TV to make it look like they are actually doing something. As evidenced by the daily AQI readings, nothing has changed. Roll on the rain it's the only thing that is going to save us and our lungs. The local authorities clearly aren't in control of the situation.

  2. When you go in the detail by Province it is easy for all to see that the number of positive cases is being under reported. Casing point being Isaan. Using the Dept. Of Disease Control website http://covid19.ddc.moph.go.th/en I looked at the number of confirmed CV19 cases for the 10 largest Isaan Provinces. The numbers look incredulous, E.G. Khon Kaen, Sakon Nakhon, especially given the mass exodus of jobless Thais from Bangkok, Pattaya etc back to their family villages and the lack of controlled social distancing.

No doubt Governors of certain Provinces are under declaring the numbers to garner "brownie points"..

  3. The government had already allocated Bt1.5 billion to procure 264,000 N95 masks and 350,000 PPE sets. That is approx. $45 million dollars for 614,000 masks and PPE, that's a seriously high cost per unit. Somebody is going to get a nice backhander when placing that procurement order... No doubt just another misunderstanding with the published numbers.

  4. As has been said by many posters in the past, the most effective way to help alleviate all the burning is to fine the Poo Yai Baan 100,000 baht, take away his bad of office and name and shame them. The Poo Yai Baan knows exactly who everybody is and their movements within his Tambon. Never happen of course because it's to bl00dy obvious...

  5. A new 15-minute COVID-19 test has been launched in Thailand aimed at increasing the number of people being screened for the deadly virus and easing the burden on the health system.

Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok rolled out the rapid kit this week hoping it will help to quickly identify people with the illness.

Coronavirus cases rose sharply in Thailand in March, with panicked citizens flocking to under-pressure hospitals for coronavirus tests.

Currently doctors rely on polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests from nasal and throat swabs to detect COVID-19.

The demand for the PCR test can mean kits are in short supply and results can take two to four days.

After reading this i have decided enough is enough.I am sick of this racist <deleted> from Thailand. After this covid 19 has died down if it dies down i am out of here and Asia.I have found a place in south america that is not racist, cheap, easy to settle and safe,i have already started the process.I love Thailand but it's just becoming a bad place for expats now .

Stuhan... can you share the name of the place in South America (can PM me). I'm in the same boat, sick of the xenophobic rants, pollution and Govt. ass kissing the Chinese.

  7. The Govt. needs to ban the sale of mushrooms which is primarily responsible for all the burning in the hillsides.. Never happen of course, lots of thick brown envelopes being handed out for people to turn a blind eye... TIT.. Watch the video, very enlightening..

  8. Really irked with all the focus on CV-19. More people are killed monthly on the roads than will be killed by CV-19. The people in the North/North East are collateral damage as far as the Govt. is concerned. People are suffering daily with horrendous air pollution which is doing more long term health damage than the virus for the benefit of monopoly farmers and mushroom harvests... https://aqicn.org/forecast/chiangmai/

  9. Hardly a surprise that the numbers are increasing in the provinces given the mass exodus of jobless Thais from Bangkok last week... In the boondocks the average Somchai under the age of 30 lacks the self discipline of social distancing/self isolation, so the numbers will only increase, assuming they reported given the lack of test screening centers.
