I don't trust 1 single molecule that comes out of 'that' country, and never will...ever.

I would really like to see the numbers if they tested on the same scale as the UK. Any offers?

Notice they only admitted to it, a day after the monitoring system (that was put in place for just such an event) caught them out.
Usual behaviour from the untrustworthy coconuts.

The virus originated in Wuhan according to the WHO. There is still some suspicion it originated at a bio development lab rather than in the local nearby wet market. The Chinese government's suppression of journalists other than those that towed the party line hasn't helped clearing up the suspicions of some sought of cover up. Hardly the bastion of truth, honesty and an open press, now is it?
The Chinese people cannot be blamed for the virus itself, or the actions of their government.
The variant isn't the "Brit strain" as you suggest. It is a variant first discovered in the UK, which the WHO say has some of the most stringent testing and analysis in the world. Other countries, ones also diligent and not so keen to suppress information, have also confirmed cases of the variant and most not blamed it on some one traveling from the UK.
No one is to blame, unless the virus was the result of man made government research. If that's not the case then China may also have been guilty in, after identifying it, suppressing the information and allowing its nationals and goods to travel outside China so spreading it. But that all has to be investigated and confirmed. A lot more factual research is required.
"No one is to blame"......are you awake?........did you not see the news reports of doctors being 'silenced' while they were trying to raise the alarm.
Forced to sign paperwork that discredited them, while domestic flights out of Wuhan were stopped but international flights allowed.
There has been a decade long experiment on bat coronaviruses that are collected from caves and stored in an institute......can you guess where?.....Yes, it's called the WIV......Wuhan institute of virology.
Seems odd that a bat coronavirus started infecting humans in the same city that all the bat coronaviruses are stored doesn't it?
See the report here..... Bats, roadblocks and the origins of coronavirus - BBC News
More worrisome is the latest variant to come out of South Africa.
Never tell me no one is to blame.
The CCP are totally to blame.
The doctors statements to the international press have already proved this.

The chinese <deleted> will be going no where near me.
I wouldn't trust them as far as I could vomit them.

Do you really trust the government to report the facts or even know what the facts are?
Thank you....exactly.
Do people seriously believe reports from an unelected dick tator ship.
They deliberately avoided testing to protect the tourist income.
Now they are forced to... hey presto.

When will they ever learn.
When the education system is overhauled and run by the upcoming youth.
The upside to all this covid stuff is that it should hopefully kill off all the old incumbents that have too much influence over the running of the country.

Incorrect....as stated, 90% of cases they are finding are asymptomatic. They have been here all along. Dream on if you think Thailand has been free of covid

Title of the OP makes no sense as all travelers incoming, whether Thai or foreigner have been being tested every since they started this system of testing and quarantine. And as the article states the Thai's can have free ASQ and testing. That may be a shock to some on TV who insist they have to pay for the quarantine and do not get it free. They pay for an ASQ location but not a Thai Government location. If memory serves me correctly there was a Samut Prakan ASQ foreigner who had completed the quarantine and was released after being negative only to a few days later to be found positive for Covid as well as the virus being found inside of the ASQ on surfaces. Who is to say that this outbreak we are seeing now did not move around slowly and then mutate into what we are seeing now. I know the strains of the virus have been determined, but do we really want to believe that all had been traced and tested as well as those coming in from the Northern border with Chiang Rai.
Spot on buddy.....a distinct possibility.
To many people are duped into thinking Thailand was covid free.....it most certainly wasn't/isn't.

If your old or sick stay inside. Let's not forget this virus can be defeated by not getting close to people, wearing a mask and washing your hands frequently.
It's not the plague!
'Its not the plague'.....At the moment.
We've seen a more virulent strain appear in the UK.
Is it possible a more lethal strain could develop in the not too distant future?
(Similar to SARS back in 2002.....that again, the CCP lied about and tried to cover up).
This thought is the worrying one.

There you go. Entirely plausible. And will any active officials in positions higher up the chain be charged, arrested, tried, convicted and imprisoned? Of course not. Prayuth spends half his time protecting corrupt police, customs army, and immigration officials from the law.
Despite frequent protestations to the contrary.
You forgot to mention drug dealers ????

Never understood why people ramble on about "Thailand not doing any testing". They test when they need to. When there is an outbreak they track, trace and test. In this case they are doing tens of thousands of tests. What more do you want? Do you think they should just set up random testing points and pull people off the streets to test them?
Like it or not Thailand is doing a much better job than many places in the world - UK, US etc.Unfortunately, 'they test when they need to' is akin to playing, catch up....chasing your tail. Much better to get ahead of the game and test all possible, in which case you're not following the trail, but stopping the trail before it gets there.

I feel for the people at the end of the xenophobia.
An outbreak has occurred and now 'some' testing has been done they're now finding the cases that have been here all along.
Test and you will find....thank you, to the criminal who imported these workers.

look at what Uk did, they found some new mutation(70% faster). they told it in public. that is how it should be. there is no shame in accepting the truth. Uk told public . that is what it shud be., if china told it to public in start and stopped flights, we wudnt be here.
Thank you.....absolutely correct.
If we ever get out of this horrible situation, 'that country' needs to be held accountable for crimes against humanity. And made to pay in any terms the world decides. Period.

Umm...full of covid patients. Especially the private hospitals which are no where near full now.
As for the up country ones? They'd be overflowing into the parking lots, just like in the West.
The overwhelming majority of hospital cases are the elderly or people with pre-existing conditions as it is widely reported.
95% of cases are of mild flu symptoms only.
Most people ride it out. I know of several people in my location who have suffered such. Had two friends go to hospital, one was refused a test, the other balked at the cost.
Regardless, Thailand has very few elders per% of population, compared with the west, largely due to the better health care systems there.
So there will naturally be fewer older people in the hospitals here.....there simply aren't that many.
As an example, If 1.5 million old people died in the UK (not the current few thousand), their elderly population would then be close to that of Thailand's. (Google is your friend).

well, he has handled Covid 1000 times better than bumbling buffoon Boris.
Similar population 60 deaths verses 60,000.He didn’t manage to get himself infected with covid either by running around hospitals unmasked and shaking hands with all the infected patients.
He did give the farangs a spray for stupidly refusing to wear free masks he was giving them back in March to help stop them spreading everywhere like in the UK, when Boris was telling people not to wear masks.
More people die everyday from covid in the UK and 30 other countries than the entire total this year in Thailand.
The Thai economy apart from tourism is mostly open, while in other countries they are locking down again, some with some bizarre 4 stages that accomplish little.
Some people it seems will never get over him calling some farangs “dirty”. Frail egos.
Not me, I am happy he said it to wake up the selfish idiots.
Better than having tens of thousands dead.If he had of locked down the same people criticizing him would be criticizing him for over reacting. They will criticize him regardless of what he does because he hurt their feelings.
I am hoping he has got this call right again. Locking down CM and CR would be the final nail in the coffin for a lot of businesses who have up until now managed to stay afloat.
Dealing with covid is a difficult balancing act, he has done better than most.
A little insight.....
If 1.5 Million old people (65+) died in the UK, the UK would have approximately the same number of old folks as Thailand (Google the numbers). When will some of you realise the reality of the situation. Thailand has not done anything other than what it is best at. LIE in an attempt to protect its 20% tourist GDP. Of course you don't see herds of old people dying here, because they don't have that many! Along with a poor healthcare system, thousands had already croaked back in December last year due to a 'viral pneumonia' before it was known as covid. Dr. Turner (a former regular on this forum quoted the source of this information).
What Thailand has done well is live an outdoor lifestyle, wear masks to stop spittle being sprayed when talking, along without touching each other on a regular basis....no shaking hands etc.
The western culture is very different in this respect and it has bitten them in the ass.

Why are the CCP vile.....ask the rest of the world.
It's common knowledge to those who can read.
They should be bombed out of existence. And salt the earth for good measure.

Why bother? Thailand is never going to legalize weed. The profit potential of keeping it illegal or semi legal is too great. The whole world follows the idiotic drug laws of the United States. Hop over to Cambodia and buy yourself a "Happy Pizza". It's not actually "legal" there, either, but they have a nice local attitude and a loophole.
'The profit potential of keeping it illegal or semi legal is too great'
Errrrrr, incorrect.
Take a trip to the US and use an app called 'Weedmaps'.....each of these 'shops' (hundreds, if not thousands) sells around $100,000/day (I asked a shop assistant about their takings)....do the maths.
-
Just a hint on how much cash can be made.
I have smoked weed for ~40 years.
I travelled to the USA on a regular basis, (until the Chinese fkced it all up).
Visiting one of the many shops that now sell all sorts of varieties of weed/edibles/concentrates, I was very aware of how many people were passing through in the time I was there.
As I was browsing the iPad menu, I asked a shop assistant approximately how much money passed through the shop on a daily basis. She said in the region of $100,000.
That was 1 shop.
Have a look at an app called 'weedmaps' and take note of how many shops there are in the states where recreational weed is allowed.
There is massive money to be made.

Really quite sad.

"Government to tighten crackdown on vehicles causing pollution"
Again......No law enforcement = No change.
Only when Thailand gets a functioning police force instead of the current mafia will things slowly start to change.
