That was a bizarre one too.

    What about the DJ too.

And the 3 that arrived in Japan a few days ago.

    And the Lumpini boxing event.

And the famous case of Vietnams patient 91 (Scottish pilot) who had been in BKK a week earlier for a visa run.

Yes, and this was a long time ago (June), but it suggests what most savvy farangs have thought about the lies and deceit perpetrated by the dictators for a long time now.

    etc, etc.....

There are countless other cases which I could dig up.....but I don't need to, I already know.

I have said this many times before but it needs repeating ad nauseum. THE CCP CORONAVIRUS  CAME FROM WUHAN CHINA. The Chinese (CCP) knew that the virus was capable of human to human transmission yet covered up the fact and allowed travel from the source , Wuhan, to Thailand, America, Europe and all corners of the globe.

The people of the WORLD, Thailand included, have the Communists Party of China to thank for all of the death and financial misery. Thailand should remember this before they let their beloved brothers from the Middle Kingdom back into Thailand to bring their next new viral present to the Land of Smiles.

When would be a good time to welcome the Chinese hoards back? HOW ABOUT NEVER!!!!!

Thank you Tom.....nail on the head.

These CCP <deleted> should never be allowed to forget what they have done..... again!!!!!

There is a lot of testing going on here - just not random mass testing of the population - prisoners and those admitted for surgery are two examples, and those suspected of having covid, are tested. If noone is presenting to hospital with symptoms - and any that are infected but are asymptomatic anyway, who cares? I don't buy the story of high numbers of asymptomatic carriers present in Thailand - they would spread the virus and infect others causing symptoms. Many would end up at hospital.

Incorrect.....see graph for the amount of testing going on here.

No point testing people in Thailand because it will spoil it's record of 100 covid19 virus free days. We should give that person a prison sentence for damaging Thailand's reputation.

Less than 1% of Thailand's population has been tested according to the worldometers website and that includes people who have been tested more than once.

I believe that Thailand has a low number of infections but not as low as reported. This guy was only tested because he was in prison.

How many other untested people are infected?

    Nail on the head......thank you.

Interesting! I know the case about this pilot of Vietnam Airlines, but I didn't know that he visited Bangkok a week before the diagnosis. There is no proof, of course, that he was infected in Thailand. But it is an interesting coincidence. Can be, good possible. This is a very sad and serious case of Covid. He almost died, and will have problems for the rest of his life.

Do you remember when it was? I heard that the Vietnam was among the first countries, if not the first at all, which closed the borders for tourists from Wuhan, while the Thai government even end of February still invited, welcomed and embraced tourists from there.

    Here you go......

"When he first fell ill at an expat bar, which was the site of southern Vietnam's biggest outbreak, his case caused controversy as there was speculation he was the source of the outbreak".

"There seemed to be a desire to pin it on me coming from abroad, as I did a visa run to Bangkok a week earlier," he told the BBC in June, when he was still in Vietnam.

"I was the first person to put my hands up and say: 'Look I don't feel well'. It was inevitable I would be blamed."

Its jealousy. The Brittish cant handle that Thailand does very well handling the covid crisis, so they gotta make a negative item about accidents in Thailand.

Question: Why on earth would road accidents in Thailand have any relevance to the UK. Its just searching for a negative story just to feel good about their owncountry and conveniently forget they totally mismanage covid crisis.

How do you know 'Thailand does very well handling the covid crisis'......there is no testing done period.....so how do know how many people have it.....A good friend of mine had 'the flu' 10 days ago.....no test done!.....bullsiht numbers....lieland again.

You might find reading the statistics on Pneumonia cases and deaths since January interesting reading.

I know a married couple (Thai & English) who both caught a virus whilst visiting Thailand earlier this year.  The English guy was pretty bad and was hospitalised in Pattaya - his symptoms point strongly towards Covid 19, yet neither were tested. All that was recorded was a Respiratory Infection.  I'm just one person who knows 2 that are very likley to have had Covid whilst in Thailand - how many more are there?

I have lived in Thailand for 15 years.....when I used to live in the UK, I would always get 3 or more colds/flu every year, guaranteed.

Since living in Thailand, I never get ill (touch wood) and I would always relate this to friends of mine when working abroad.

I agree with someone else who posted about westerners touching each other a lot....shaking hands/hugging/kissing....basically touching each other, whereas here in the far east, people rarely touch each other when greeting etc.

I think this is a huge factor in spreading any disease.

Perhaps the heat/UV radiation contributes to killing viruses more quickly than would happen in colder/less UV intensive countries???...basically reducing the viruses shelf life on any surface that someone might touch.

The UV index here in Thailand is always listed as 'Extreme' in any of the weather apps I look at (we are close to the equator after all).

I think there must be a lot of contributing factors, but the 2 I've outlined.....touching and UV are big in my opinion.

That said....in previous years I know of basically no-one/very, very few people who had a cold/flu here in Thailand during the time I've lived here.

However, this year I can think of a least 6 people I know of, who had some sort of cold/flu like symptoms.....they are all fine and in good health I'm glad to say, but the point is I had not seen anyone ill in previous years.

One of them was taken to hospital by his wife as he had breathing difficulties.....no test!!!!

For sure it's out there, perhaps not as widely spread due to factors I speculated about above.

  8. What a shame....well done TUI....do not budge.

Treat the corrupt country the way it treats others.....tell the thai gov to stick it where the sun don't shine.

Make these corrupt baboons hurt as much as possible.....they do it on a daily basis to other innocent folks, without a care in the world for anyone except themselves.

    I hope this country collapses.

  9. He has to explain why would 'rich people' want to come to a cesspool of corrupt, filthy, uneducated, disease ridden, South east asia, when there are infinitely nicer, friendlier, less corrupt, cleaner, destinations through out the world.

I can't think of one good reason why the worlds wealthy would want to come to this run down filthy country.

  10. Using our old friend Google....

It's worth pointing out that people over the age of 65 in Thailand account for 11% of the population (69 million)...7.6 million

People over the age of 65 in the UK account for 18% of the population (67 million)....12 million (4.5 million more than Thai)

People over the age of 65 in France account for 19.6% of the population (67 million)....13 million (5.5 million more than Thai)

People over the age of 65 in Italy account for 22.75% of the population (60 million)...13.6 million (6.6 million more than Thai).

Therefore, 1st world countries, due to their much higher rate of aging populations will of course show more deaths.

Coupled with social interaction in the west...shaking hands/hugging/touching in general, it's not surprising that infections there are much higher in general.

Coupled with a much higher testing rate and more accurate reporting....these countries again will show a more accurate 'big picture' than here....currently, Thailand has tested 0.4% of its population...the government figures are obviously not credible.

Then of course there's the mutation factor/different strains of the virus to complicate the issue further.....this time next year, hopefully a clearer picture will be available for all to see.

Only a fool can think any country can carry out unlimited testing.

In any country testing is a limited resource, even the wealthy west is struggling, but people like you would advocate wasting what resource is available.

Like many other situations a targeted approach is far more appropriate than any shotgun version.

The UK took a targeted approach but bashing them does little for the appetite of the Thai basher.

    Ahem....South Korea.

You need both blanket testing to isolate the infectious, then targeted to find out who these people had been with and where.

    Very simple....South Korea nailed it.

As soon as they got wind of what was happening in China last December they immediately instructed companies to produce test kits.....They knew from previous experiences of the Chinese.
