I've attempted to put myself in the position of someone albeit single or with a family reading Thai news over the past few weeks whilst trying to make my mind up if it's worth the trouble booking a holiday there? The answer is a emphatic, no I won't bother certainly this year maybe next.

PCR tests are a money spinner, and just the start of things to come, don't think for one minute that the world wide financial impact this pandemic has caused will not cost the average guy something. Lost revenues have to be recovered which invariably means pice hikes

If the information that they are planning to visit Bangkok and Pattaya is correct, the damage (if any) would have already been done as soon as they get on the first public transport, of course if they make it into a hotel, bar or massage parlour!

If the hotel isn't as described or the service/amenities aren't up to scratch then a bad review is inevitable. Providing the review isn't exaggerated and constructed criticism where possible is left, I honestly don't see what the problem is? I've left several bad reviews, far worse than a 6-10 and never had any problems. Hopefully the young lady is shown to be right in her actions. There were a couple of older women in my ex's village who sent their daughters to work in bars! The only time face was lost was when one girl constantly sent more money home than the other. Her mum taunted the other mother saying things like,"your daughters ugly, no one want to pay to <deleted> her, my daughter is beautiful many men pay for her" It was of absolutely no consequence that their daughters were prostitutes, what did matter was the amount of money being sent home.

Commendable if the numbers and story totally correct! 7,394 arrests over a 10 day period is 739 arrests a day, a little over 30 an hour! Apparently they were paragliding it wasn't motorised. Aren't you required to do a pcr test 72 hrs before departing to Thailand which must be negative or your not allowed to travel? Or have the rules changed? Tests initially showed inconclusive then positive puts a question mark against the reliability of the test!
