This tragic incident is not unique in today's world young kids are regularly victims of gun crime. A staggering 696 in USA this year. In the UK A 9 Yr old girl was recently shot and killed after her mother opened the front door to investigate a disturbance!

Some years ago I was present when a friend (who is fluent in Thai) was stopped driving his car, after a short conversation the cop went to his vehicle and brought back a pistol my friend handed him 3k THB. Apparently the RTP were engaged in a road block looking for illegal weapons!

You don't often see the headline, "Thai kills foreigners on motorcycle" Hopefully the girls insurance will cover any medical expenses? Yet another waste of life on Thai roads. -

If any of those in power were serious about stopping corruption it would be so easy to implement! Demand to see bank accounts and investment portfolios of the regional police chiefs. I would suggest that an amoeba would quickly realise that the incomes do not match the money earned. Joe Ferrari springs to mind wages 60k a month driving a 7 million baht car not to mention the properties etc! It won't happen!

Initially I thought the same as you, however after giving it a modicum of thought the reason maybe because the Chinese are more or less here! A lot of Chinese Thai people about and you don't see them owning road side food stalls. -
However you spin this it's another unnecessary statistic, the father must feel.bad giving her permission to ride it.
