  1. You got me there the bikes 8 seconds or less are all highly modified NHRA circuit race bikes Even the old Kawasaki h2 750 models have wheelie bars on them as you would have to be a fool to jump on a 12 second H2 without the bars. But here is a list of Non modified bikes that hit 9-11 sec.

    Notes
By quarter mile time, 12 seconds or less

Time from standing start to 1⁄4-mile (0.40 km). This list includes full production motorcycles only; concept and "one-off" motorcycles of any kind are not included.
For comparison, an object in free fall (without any air resistance) near the Earth's surface has a quarter mile time of 9.06 seconds and a speed of 198.7 mph.

You can see Harley only has one contender that did 11.38 sec @ 119.07 mph (191.62 km/h)[1]

At 120 mph Not exactly the fastest speed. But to its credit it did it quick. But a stock Harley to me is way more a status symbol than a shit hot bike. Maybe I am jaded but for the money you have to dish out you can get a Mo Betta sportsbike! That & you rarely ever find sport bikes cruisin 50-60 MPH. Boring! My 48 Panhead was my fastest Harley although I never dragged it on the 1/4 mile I would not say it was the fastest or smoothest but I have had Harleys & the post is about making fun of Harleys being a little on the slower side. Pound for pound My H2 was way more fun & would get up & hoof but that is comparing oranges to horses. The new Ninja Race version that Kawasaki put together will probably turn 8 or damn close to it stock.

Just sayin Harleys are really not in the game for racing. every company outpaces them By quite a bit.

You can see Harley only has one contender that did 11.38 sec @ 119.07 mph (191.62 km/h)[1]

At 120 mph Not exactly the fastest speed. But to its credit it did it fast. Just sayin Harleys are really not in the game for racing. every company outpaces them By quite a bit.

  3. Their modern system now that it is computerized (or they figured out you can use a computer to do everything) has made it a joy. 5 minutes max for 90 day & no more than 3 hours to pick up passport for me on the 1 year. About 5 minutes actual processing time & I don't feel like a criminal being put under heavy scrutiny like in the early 2004-2008ish times where it was always 2 days. They still make me come back to do the 90 day separate but who knows with the computer usage they should be able to streamline it into a one day event.

  4. Yea but why screw around with an over 10 second bike when you can get an efficient machine (that is soooo much more comfortable) that will do 8 seconds or less.

If your into the Old Fart status a Harley for real riding excitement just about anything else.If they got rid of those huge ass pistons or just rip out the engine & put a 327 on the frame the slug issue would be solved. But I have to say Harley is always the last to get with the modern program. It took almost 60 years to come up with anything that will remotely keep up with a Japanese bike. Too much infighting at the Harley plant as the fan base is dying or getting to old to hold up the bikes. Very few now want a Harley as they just haven't kept up with the times. They should have seen the writing on the wall in the 80's & converted all the creature comforts w/engine redesign to be competitive. Sad for the company that they resisted change since we all get older & it is far easier to ride a light ultrafast bike over a slow on the road bike that could be a car. Even my Goldwing was way more comfortable than my friends full dress roadking & My Goldwing got way better mileage & required ONLY interval maintenance. Not really Anti Harley since I have owned them - But I don't want status from any bike just enjoyment without having to work on the ride unless I am doing mods on it.

  5. A 250-300cc is to small & uncomfortable for that long a run. I have done Patts to Koh Chang 4 times on my Kawi 650 ER6n & it is not bad at all. I bought a gel seat from Pro Pad in the states & it saves your ass on moderately long rides. Comfy from Bang Saray to Pattaya as well. The 300 size you just turn into a human shock absorber & for a few baht more it has lots of beans & comfort to boot.

And like everyone is saying you can get some great deals now especially when someone is hot to buy a 1000cc & get some cash toward a bigger bike or the seller just had a kid & the ole lady tells him to get rid of the scoot to dangerous.

  6. If that Sportster could not do better than 17 seconds the rider did not have a clue.

I had a sporty those bikes don't move worth a shit but mine did 14 seconds in the quarter. I hated the sheer slowness of the bike my 500 Honda four would beat it in the 1/4 mile easy. way to much metal & the set up is not condusive for racing whatsoever. I don't believe sears point in Sonoma Ca. has ever seen a Harley win anything. They are all show & no go

  7. It looks beautiful & shiny cause it is new . But I didn't have time to ride it But Rod told me it wasn't the fastest of bikes but a lot better than the sporty he had 10 years ago.One of his friends have a 650 ninja & he said he can't keep up with it after 110 MPH it starts to shake & shutter. Not surprising sounds like a typical Harley. I've had Harleys before & no big excitement, if they could put an inline 4 & shave off 200 lbs they would be good bikes. But for turning for a profit not bad in the states cause you can get some great deals now that everyone is tapped out & needs money. The other half will hock their left nut to get a Harley. Don't understand the logic, but then again I never understand the lack of logic. He traded a Bobcat & cash for less than the owner got it for.Knowing Rod It was for a LOT less.

  8. Even at 1200 that is about 700 baht more than it is worth for what they have up. In the U.S. this is a kiddie park pool an adult park would have slides 3-4 times higher & completed fully before opening. I just can't see the value. Dollar for dollar I think it is a burn. Hell an assisted sky dive is $100.00 out in the states & way more of a rush. They should have this priced at 800 baht for non resident & 600 for resident. This is Thailand & it costs more than anywhere in the world. Even in Indonesia the price would be the equivalent of 600 baht. I just don't get it why the park feels this is so special that it charges western prices or more for less & it isn't even completed. I would try it at 200 baht for the opening but. Lets see a Lobster dinner or a kiddie park for the same amount. I won't even try it at this price. Hell you can do a zip line adventure over the rainforest in Costa Rica that is 2 miles high for 30% of this price. Too much for way to little.

  9. Sorry Papa the site will not let me message anyone or download or upload. I am having problems with TV 's site right now. Richard has been online for years with TV & imports I think mainly Chinese bikes. Not sure what his handle is but he has been on every Chinese bike post & several of the registration topics. I think his name is followed by numbers in his avatar. The guys I ride with heard it is 3 years but others have posted 5 years. So it seems no one is sure. However the DLT would have that answer. I would say Yankee or Norman W would know ....but neither has or buys bikes in question on registration issues. The other factor is I would not doubt it at all if BKK or Chain Mai, Phuket & Pattaya may have different answers to that question. Seems to be a huge void so most in TV land the last couple years shy away from anything that may be a problem. But one thing for sure If the guy is present at the DLT with you, you would most likely be certain that it is all Kosher as the DLT would be the party signing off on the Title.

  10. Well if he is a poster on the forum he most likely won't mind going down to whatever DLT he has to go to with you. That would be the only way you would be assured of a smooth transaction. A couple of years ago registration would be an easy fix but companies like Honda are spending tons of money to get anything off the road that isn't new by invalidating green books & making them impossible or way to much money to make it worth an older purchase.I let 3 great deals slide this year alone. I got caught once in the U.S. on a bad title deal which was not even the owners fault & had the car crushed after removing the running gear since I could never drive it legally on the road. That only happened once. I learned & will not take a chance if I want to have a legal vehicle. Just ask him to go down to the DLT & transfer with you. I even did that with my Kawi that was only 1 year old. Take no chances! Good luck on the ride!

  11. And if it is more than either 3 or 5 years unregistered I understand they void your greenbook now( as of a couple of years ago when they changed the reg rules) Not sure if the magic number is 3 or 5 years. last posts on it seemed pretty divided between the 3 year & 5 year. If they crush the green book you would have to re-emission it & all the other hoops they make you go through. I think Richard would have more complete knowledge of the ramifications. I personally always request the present owner to go down to the DLT with me & get it transferred in my name or will not buy the bike if they refuse no matter how good the deal looks. I have only one person that would not & one other person that was playing some kinda game saying he worked & could never get off work to go to the DLT. And to make it worse he only would show the bike after it was dark. I took a pass on that & glad I did. I know something wasn't kosher with the seller & didn't trust him at all after the lame excuses. Papa be careful on these type of deals there are a lot of gray areas & one would hate to buy & find out the bike is only good for parts. You know about the older bikes are getting harder to keep legal especially if it is a doctored green book as most of the older bikes are. If it is a track bike & trailer-ed. Not a worry but if it is a street bike may be a problem with the way the newest government is now who knows what changes(if any) are coming up. If the dude wants to sell get him to transfer it with you otherwise you are taking a risk.

  12. The V rods are much better although they get killed by any of the Jap bikes. They are still quite a bit behind the times but are slowly getting a clue. A buddy has one of the newer 750 v rod & my 650 Kawi would smoke it easily on the 1/4 mile. But at least they look a lot cooler & more modern than the old school Harleys. They have to the old farts are dyin off & the younger crowd are way more into style over weight & status.

  13. I went to 2 wed nite races (beat the heat) You can race against the polices best units{which suck at best}) & out of the 4 Harleys none even got close to the finish line on the 1/4 mile at Sears Point Raceway. The best time was over 17 seconds on a sportster. The bike raced against a 1988 ford Thunderbird (grampas old car) The ford posted a 17 second Hideous for 1/4 mile & the sporty was loligagin behind him. I don't know why Harley even bother to race that big ass set of pistons are the downfall of the bike. A total waste of efficiency.

  14. Big for an alternate kink in the nights activities The Penthouse will rent room or rooms with a bar pole has all kind of toys available for sale ,closed circuit to to their clubs girls & x rated movies(for free){maybe they charge now for the movies} The rooms are decorated with mirrors & lights sound system - the whole shebang. It was quite a while ago I was last there but it was only 1000 baht a night probably 2000 now. But it was worth every baht when I was there. If your straight you might want to move quickly when you go outside. Boyztown is also around that area. The only scam is they will let you buy shares or a share of the establishment. I would give that one a pass!

  15. The real estate agents up here are a joke. We offered 10% for sale of our last property. The property was undervalued at 50% & now has tripled it's value within 3 years. The companies want you to sell property for 12 million baht for 3-4 million so they can rape. We sold our property for 200,000 baht less than ask price.Even the banks that loaned the money to the buyers valued the land at 2.5 million over the ask price.

I am not at all impressed with the lack of interest or desire to sell property up here. The property was in a great location & had water features & all the other wanted features but the companies we talked to just were lame & not hungry enough to sell. Their loss. We flip property up here & now don't even bother to use an agent.

The sad part is we only buy the best properties with location location location. In the states we would have agents clamoring to get our business- but this is LOS land of not much in the way of common sense.

Just out of curiosity Beardog. Which area are you talking about and did you recently sold a 12 M Baht property ?

" Quote "The companies want you to sell property for 12 million baht for 3-4 million so they can rape. (I think you read the post incorrectly)

It wasn't sold for 12 mil. but within the year we sold property value went up 200% the area across the street is being sold now at 1.5 a nahn. It was near Baan kaw Chi Chan school Bang Saray.. The land value now being sold is well over 12 mill. now. The other 3 Rai just turned for 2 Mill. a rai that we sold for 1 mill a Rai.

Property is off the hook in Bang Saray & Ban Ampur as it is very sought after & there is a very very limited amount of land for sale left. So little land that we have 2 lots sold that we have not got the Chinotes to yet. If you want beachfront a Rai goes for 17-22 million a rai right on the beach making the land up to 10 times more expensive than the top land in Maui Hawaii. I have to laugh when people ask if the land is beachfront. It is way obvious that they never drove to Bang Saray & priced the land out here. Ban Ampur is the same. Craig can back me up on that. As more & more people come up from Bangkok or want to get out of city life in Patts it is consuming up what little property is out here. The only amounts of land in abundance are the 600,000 baht red brick shitholes that are in villages around here. And they are going for 1.7 -3.2 mill. for a 40 twah lot & inferior built structures that are using 2 hoon steel & red brick instead of Rebar & Superblock. We know most of the builders that are working for the developers out here so we know from the plans how much the material & labor costs are.

  17. They do have a much better repair system But I have not seen it here. It is in the U.S. & most tire shops(autos&trucks ) carry it. it is similar but has a lot of asbestos impregnated into a thicker slime kinda substance. It also will balance a tire excellent. Unfortunately I have asked tire shops here & don't know the Thai word for asbestos to see if they carry it. Lasts way longer than your tire tread will last.We used to use this compound for 4 wheeling in desolation wilderness in California as well. Best tire stuff in the world. Wish I could find it here. It would easily double for an answer why the scooter tires in LOS always lose their air. In the states I would have them pump it in the tires when they were new & never needed to balance the tires. It stays pliable throughout the life of the tire. I think Uniroyal uses the substance within the tires that seal themselves if punctured.

If anyone ever finds the stuff PLEASE POST where to get it. Bible material. I wanted to bring back a couple kilo's or 4lbs. of the stuff but TSA told me it is hazardous material & they will confiscate in a heartbeat! Drag The only way I could see it being hazardous if you wore it as a sunscreen or ate it.

We used it once to seal a fork that sliced into the top tread of the sidewall & it lasted over 2 years....till the tread was dead. It is that good. Slime is good but nowhere as guberous as the real stuff! I use slime in our mountain bike tubes but as pointed out it is not a permanent fix while the material I am talking about is. I am sure it would be costly. Must be 10X the weight of slime & the export import tax in this country & the states would be steep. But I would pay the digit to save a new tire that has to big a puncture to fix over any of the other methods used to fix the tire.

  18. Another real good shop is off of 3rd road near TOT on Pattaya Klang (from the beach side hang a left from Sukimvette hang a right) about 1 block or so down there is a krungsakorn bank (gold colors) next door there is an irrigation shop that has more selection & better prices than Home Pro & I think also better grade parts(some of the items) If you really need a lot Global home in Rayong has a ton. We had to do 2&1/2 acres so we found these shops to be the best. There is also a rainbird outlet on Sukimvette towards soi Khoa Talo.
