  1. I would have to ask why a flame shooting out the exhaust Iwould think not tuned properly. Then whoosh, we got a fire here

Looked to me like a fuel line ruptured - shocking stuff

That's what I thought too an oil fire wouldnt torch up as quickly as that Gas or premix on the other hand would torch up very quickly! Not that oil wouldn't burn rapidly but the 3 years I did as a volunteer fireman in California. we fought both types of fires & gas burns way hotter & quicker than oil. And is a lot harder to extinguish.

  2. What a dumbass! I'm not sure why it caught on fire but I do wonder how long has he been revving it before someone started filming...

Try turning that into your insurance company on a comprehensive claim Before they tell you to Fck off

Sorry about the link It came up weird & I tried to upload the video itself & that was less stellar!

  3. 10 days ago I had some jack off looked to be a 10 year old kid decide to ride his dads wave across sukimvette in Pattaya from a side street. Traffic moving 120 KPH. I was going with the flow in the fast lane the lane next to me was a truck that had to get sideways to avoid the kid the nissan next to him went into drift mode to miss the truck sliding, Then it was my turn to stuff the brakes froont & rear to get my speed down to 50 KPH in 1/2 a second & got a wobble in the front end. Luckily I am not a noob rider & was able to pull out of it. I wish the heat would get the little kids off the road entirely. Sukimvette in Pattaya is a horrible place to test out your lack of riding skills. There was no way the kid could have made it safely unless it was over a liter bike & for what. He probably didn't even think twice about the event. It was a whew moment for sure. No one was speeding that stretch of the road 120 is the normal flow of traffic.

  4. Ya that is the problem Most of the people driving without licenses can have revoked licenses in their country. <deleted> do you do if you have an accident & god forbid you don't have a lic for the heat . Your gonna go to jail in any country regardless. You guys are lucky in Oz land I think it is now a $390.00 fine for not carrying a license

And for sure you can expect to be taken down to the cop shop while they run every possible way to find out who you are. And then there is the impound fee. You don't get a free pass like here. You do not get to drive the car home .Either a passenger that has a valid lic. will be able to drive the car down to the cop shop while you get it all sorted, If the cars credentials are all paid up no outstanding warrants parking tickets & unpaid fees or registration & they will need to see your insurance current. there is no - But I left it at home unless the officer is your cousin. While I don't really care for authority figures. The drivers lic. law is actually a good thing & protects everyone (pretty much) from skaters that are gaming the system & don't carry insurance because they have no lic.

Now If you forgot your wallet & everyone of us has done that before (most likely) . That is a valid reason but if you feel privileged to drive in any country without proper credentials, You need to get a clue. No one is that special or all of us would say fck off & that would justify all the losers that never get a lic. or ins & then can't pay for a wreck or injury. So in short bitching about being foolish is a mute point Next!coffee1.gif

  5. OP Just curious does your home country allow you to not have a lic on you when driving? You usually get a ride down to the cop shop in the states for no ID till they clear you have not committed a crime & you are cleared after a healthy fine after proving you have a Lic. to drive . Same in 8 countries I lived at No lic means you are busted & technically you are supposed to have a passport on you although a Thai Lic. always suffices. Just curious under what situation besides losing your LIC.(And you would have a copy of the police report on you) Why you would feel privileged to not need proper ID ? I can see a lot of things to complain about but you were definitely in the wrong as it does state on your initial driver licensing papers when you first got your LIC. You are obligated to carry necessary documentation for

Driving privileges as in every country

  6. 1 tire needed repair in 15,000 miles on Kawi 650 ER6n every month or 2 on all my Honda waves & Yamaha Nuevo .

So glad to have tires that hold air the scooters up to 150 cc. are hideous with tires going flat while the tread is at least 80 %.

I have always had good luck with Medium range 550-800cc. or 1000-1800 cc. bikes. In fact when I was a kid my minibikes or enduro's rarely had flats. The smaller scooters are the dog of the fleet when it comes to tires. I think it has a lot to do with Thailand's quality tubes & capolla tires on the scooters.

Do your scooters use tubeless tyres?

6 scooters tubes 1 scooter mags changed tires twice on the Yamaha Nuovo That one had mags. The only luck I ever had with tube tires is when I brought back tubes that were made in the U.S. Those lasted no flats & turned the bike in a year for a new one. The Thai Or Chinese tubes are suspect & never seem to hold air or at least 7 years of endless tire posts everyone agrees the tubes do not hold air well. But I am satisfied to be out of scooter world & never have tire- mares anymore. The Maxxim tires on the Yamaha was the ticket on the mag rims.Short of a puncture from metal on the road I expect since the Pirellis are not made in Thailand I should have the same good luck with tires here. But bigger rides have way more rubber to bite through to trash a tire.

  8. I honestly appreciated the vendors and the umbrellas and the comfortable chairs at Jomtien.

I got to know the vendors and they would reserve my comfortable spot every time I visited.

I love the festive atmosphere as well as the Thai people walking along the sand selling their

wares. I particularly enjoy the personal service the beach vendors offer in bringing food and drink

directly to my chair and I also look forward to the reasonably priced massages offered right on the

sand after a late night of partying. It's a great place to commune with all my Thai and expat friends.

I can go sit on a lonely beach in California if all I want is a sandy beach. I, for one, have no interest

in going to just another sandy beach. .I loved it just the way it was. Guess I won't be going anymore.

Yes, exactly. I don't go to the beach much anymore, but if I were going I'd want the chairs. I like having coffee brought to me and maybe a meal. I like getting a mani/pedicure. I enjoy the people-watching and vendors and others moving about. I like sitting there reading a book or chatting with someone. And it's an income/employment for a lot of people. Some people on TV carry on about how much money they pour into the economy, but then whine about spending 40 or 50 baht for a chair rental and a bit more for food and drink, cash that's far more likely to end up in a Thai pocket than when buying imported booze and staying in some international chain hotel.

I could bring my own chair and maybe an umbrella and a Thermos with coffee, maybe pack a lunch ... but if hordes of people did that (and many of them hauling it all on song taeows or motorcy taxis) how would that be any different if the beach was crowded with chairs and all the crap everyone had to haul to the beach?

Sure there should be some open stretches of beach for people who just want to lie out in the sun on a towel or who get their jollies from looking at unfettered sand, but if you have some beach chair concessions alongside open stretches of beach, I'm almost certain more people would be in the chairs than on some pilfered hotel towels.

Is this the slice of heaven everyone is pining for? No beach chair concessionaires here. Just a pristine, natural beach!

Looks like Bondi beach in Australia!

  9. Logan what is the problem are you trying to address. I know the shop I traded mine in at was able to fix a un stocked part that was making the engine run like shit. Is it misfiring or not getting up to speed It will be a smog valve in the system. Easy fix hard to locate. If it is let me know have a shop that knows the fix from School of hard knocks. I got tired of the problems & changed up to a 650 ER6n & was way happy for the upgrade.

  10. Beardog is Showpow on On-Nut???

I am pretty sure they are. I had them ship to me both times.

027213927 & Charlie 0890038886 these are the tele numbers the second is Charlies mobile. She can give directions or I think if you search Pirelli tires or www.showpow.com it will give the location.

Good luck they are worth it. Just about all the ER6n Ninjas have them on the bikes now. The cornering is insane! lots of grip & they heat up quick!

  11. My Er6n I had Rosso Diablo 2's fantastic tires. But I do not run any track time on this bike so I went with the Pairrelli Angel GT's & for me I find they are just as aggressive as the Diablo 2's but they really do last almost twice as long. If your not running track days, go for the Angel GT's

Showpow Usually has them in stock for 9500 -11000 baht or so depending on the Diablo 2's (cheaper) or the Angels a little more but more than make up for it in mileage. Showpow gets first crack at all the tires before any other carriers & is competitive I think with AP in Pirelli's free mount & balance with purchase since you are already in BKK. If you go to Showpow Ask for Charlie(she is a girl) She speaks English well & takes care of all of us Farangs that use Pirelli gear. I love these tires you can really hang on at any insane speed!

  12. I'll wait till I hit 70+ to get a cruiser again I like them a lot but as long as I can still wield up to a 1500 cc. sport bike-super bike I will stick with the sport bike look. They are fun but it would be unwieldy in Pattaya trying to split lanes in town especially on Pattaya Tai road or some other choice spots. In BKK forget about it a scooter is a tight fit. Not a bad price though I looked at the 900 for a bit more but the size was a deal breaker. a 15 year old could ride the power couch but the bars make it too tight to get around traffic. On the road.......Groovy! That would be my choice for a touring bike!

Good thing not all of us live in an urban rat's nest.

Hell Dave I live out in the country 22 kilos from Pattaya & only go there once a week to shop.Bangkok would be the pits for me. I like open air & open roads. Chiang Mai might not be bad either. Or Koh Phanagan!

  14. Great post beardog. I'm off to Tesco lotus express in nearby town, they may carry it.

Attached is what I got together with my leather jacket. Is it any good?

Shurup It is pretty similar in the ingrediants. I could make out the French better than the English but the only difference is the Saddle soap has an additional cleaner that works with the wax to condition the leather. I know Saddle soap has been used on Harley Jackets when My Grandpa was born.

Since you already have it try it. I just prefer this gear for leather since most industries around the world use it for new leather jackets & anything leather. It is highly used in repairing to finish the product before the customer receives the gear. That & it is actually cheaper than designer wax. Especially for motorcycle gear it is a niche product & the price is usually higher & has most likely the same or similar ingredients.

The ingredients in The Saddle soap Are: Fine Soap,Glycerine, Lanolin & quality wax.

The main reason to use it. Available at most shopping centers(the larger ones) in the Shoe dept. So you don't have to special order. I am sure Canada has it everywhere. It is the standard in anything leather & a leather jacket is the same as a leather motorcycle jacket

Here is the jacket I got in June. I had it re-dyed to restore the ribbing original luster & Saddle soap'd it & put it away June 15th & only got to use it twice for an hour & a half. Jacket will withstand 120mph+ road rash but it is a little toasty for Thailand. Sorry about the lighting waiting to get a nice Nikon(not a point & shoot)

Big C has it! Tesco express is to small to carry it. I don't think that would be the right stuff in the picture you just post Shurup.

  15. Try this: Saddle soap this is what the leather industry treats most leather products in America. I had a leather mfg company in 1975 & we got vats of saddle soap. They still prefer this type over any of the other companies & it is really cheap. In fact if you compare the other brands they will be 300% more & are the same formula.

This is made by Johnson & Johnson. Big C carries it & 3 of the leather houses in Pattaya use it for their leather goods. I use it on My new Hein Gherkie & 4 other motorcycle jackets in California Once every 6 months & good to go. One can will last you about 4 or 5 years. Just wipe dust off if it gets dusty or a rag with a small amount of water. It keeps mold or mildew of the leather as well. I use isopropyl alcohol to take off bug or road grime. If you do that make sure to test the area in back of jacket underneath to make sure the dye is good so you do not remove the color . I use 91% Isoprpyl but the usual 70 % will work & unless you make a special trip to BKK it is hard to find 91% just the blue 70% & apply conditioner immediately so it does not dry the leather & crack. Now if it ever gets cool enough for me to sport the 4 pound jacket I would be stoked!

  16. Here are some Hawaiian Lobsters. This was an extremely poor night for hunting. Usually fill the boat with 3 plastic containers. The tall guy missing teeth is the real catchmaster of Bugs But I nailed 14 & they are super Tasty.(These are spineys) The other Photo is from Waliking Street King restaurant & is also a Spiney. Slippers are Garbage to most. I would much rather have crawdads over slippers. The taste is just lacking.

As Far as Lobsters go For as often as you eat them better to get it fresh & cook it yourself. Macro once in a while carries warm water I am pretty sure Australian. Now I am hungry for Lobster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. The best tasting lobsters come from cold waters (not only the U.S.).

Absolutely. As far as I know the same applies to all fish; if it lives in cold water it will have more flavour and better texture than the same type of fish from warm water.

Not necessarily - You will never find Marlin Mahi Mahi or Ono from cold water! But Lobster definitely better in cold water.

That's why I wrote "if it lives in cold water".

The Lobster yes best from cold waters but try telling the best fish part to someone from Hawaii. The water is all warm even the cool water is warm & the fish are superb. Come to think of it Hawaiian Lobsters kick ass but are clawless. I would rather have a Maine Lobster in the U.S. by choice though mainly cause it has claws to chow!

  18. The most common problems in Thailand are the 4"pipe outside diameter isn't a true 4" or 3" what ever they used to put the toilet together. I do my own toilets for that reason making sure that the pipe fitting the toilet flange has oil based silicone around the pipe to make damn sure it is sealed tight as a welded joint. The second part that you may have noticed is the holes that bolt down the toilet are not sealed afterwords & methane odors will come up through the open holes. & third that Thai's are infamous for is not paying attention to the gasket & installing the toilet with the gasket cockeyed & crushed 1/2 of the gasket & the other half seats in properly. I like overkill so I always put extra gasket sealer(black auto silicone-oil based on the gasket if it is rubber. Out of 11 toilets no odors to date. Except the learning curve when the contractor did the job & his help was drinking all night & playing cards. Crushed gasket no pipes had good seals glued the toilet in with grout & no bolts holding the 2 toilets down. So the school of hard knocks. Re did everything to western standards & problem went away. U traps are essential to your shower drain & in condos they hardly ever put them in so you are force to use aftermarket ways to keep the odors out.
