As long as you bring the household items in within 3 months of your arrival there is no duty to pay. Easier to do it in your name as long as you are coming in on a long term visa, eg O retirement or OA retirement.
Yes, went to local tax office, on Samui, with pink ID and passport in 2024, told them I needed TIN number to file tax return in 2025, TIN issued. ( OA retirement visa ).
Tomorrow's buddha day is also an election day on Samui so any new rules will only apply after 1700 till midnight on Sunday, therefore still no alcohol 1700 Saturday till 1700 Sunday.
On Samui you only needed home license and IDP for initial 2 year license. For 5 year license all other documents required as above. Don't know about qr code as it didn't exist when I last renewed 5 years ago.
As a retired Customs officer I can tell you the same has been happening for the last 30 years plus. There are so many gullible uneducated people who think this is something new and therefore they won't get caught.. Dream on.
My friend is a Consul, recently in China. A proper Consul, not an honorary Consul. They work very hard. It is the duty of holidaymakers to do their own due diligence with regard insurance issues and doing nothing illegal. The Consulate cannot waive a magic wand and sort out the problems of the uneducated. Again your remark shows your ignorance.
