  1. 🤣 Nothing like that. But if you want to hear some scary <deleted>, PM 🤣 Friend, everyone who ever owed me money died a long time ago,. through natural causes. And I'm not doing any more lending. Lesson learned
  2. 🏆 Also, thanks to anyone I failed to acknowledge in their contribution to solving this mystery 🙏
  3. Yes, i think you you nailed it 🙏
  4. No i don't. Tried AI but perhaps not hard enough. Unfortunately, no. Although from recollection the name wasn't that obscure.
  5. Going back about 10 years.. Does anyone remember a small authentic Italian pizza restaurant a little south of tha pae gate McDonald's on the same side. I can't remember the name. It was run by an Italian guy and his Thai wife. Apparently he was found dead in bed in a hotel room in Myanmar. I'm guessing sometime 2014/15. Any details you can remember appreciated.
  6. Trying to track down a friend who used to teach at a gym at the site of the Bossotel hotel. American, tall, lean, silver haired with a goatee. Any clues appreciated. Had a side hobby doing Photoshop. His mobile service just stopped working one day. Lived in Santitham.
  7. The stupid f**king b*stards have woken up to smell the coffee. I couldn't even plan an evening with friends with some wine and go shopping in the afternoon.
  8. Actually I think I agree with you 100%. These people have probably been playing these scams for years and know exactly how to put someone who complains about them in hot water. Just to protect themselves.
  9. My point for making this post is that I just don't want to see people getting unnecessarily hurt in this beautiful country. I suspect these scammers may have been operating for a long time and therefore known to authorities and a target for arrest. I'm in a remote part of Thailand. I've encountered some potential scammers. My suspicion is that they're in this region because they're on the run and looking for new victims in more remote areas. I can't confirm that suspicion. I'm being somewhat vague because potential scammers might be scanning social media so that they know when to jump ship. My question is: Is there any point in reporting to the authorities what I've observed and WHERE WOULD BE THE BEST PLACE TO REPORT THAT? Reporting it to the local police would no doubt be absurd. Anyone who has spent a enough time in Thailand would understand that. I know these people face to face and they're willing to send me Thai ID photos in return for money. I'm going on the assumption that some criminals are stupid enough to send the real deal if they think they can get away with it in some remote area. In fact I could probably organize to take a photo of actual physical cards - but I have no idea if these things can be manufactured to order. And no obviously I'm not actually going to give these people money 😁
  10. Thanks for the reply. When I remove that 'adapter' you get what you see in the first photo below, namely a smaller threaded tube sticking out of what looks like a Schrader. However, that smaller tube doesn't look like it can be removed. What it looks like to me is the Dunlop in the second photo below.
  11. I know very little about bicycles and I'm trying to help friend who knows even less. Tire is marked 700 x 28C. I think I've identified the valve type as Dunlop but from the attached photo, it should be clear enough to anyone who knows their stuff. Note also that my fingernail is at the edge of the rim so it looks like this is a deep rim needing a long valve. When I go online, all I can seem to find is tubes with Presta type valves. Perhaps I don't know where to look. If this innertube/valve combo is not readily available in TL or likely to be unreasonably expensive, could the rim opening accept a Schrader type valve or a Presta with an appropriate adapter? I'm not even sure that Schraders are made long enough to suit this rim although I'm assuming Presta wouldn't be a problem. Finally if there is no easy solution or the appropriate inner tubes might be far more expensive long term, perhaps ditching the wheels for more conventional type might be a better solution. Thanks.
  12. Are we allowed to discuss cor**pt practices from Th** b*rd*r officials or are you going to shut them down as usual? A simple yes or no will suffice.

I was just curious because I noticed there were a lot of signs in Russian 10 years ago and curious to know if the trend had continued. Is it seasonal?

What's the level of Russian tourists at the moment compared to years gone by. Are there still signs in Russian all other the place?
  15. I'm interested in getting some opinions about how long the damage to the bathroom ceiling in the photo would have taken to accumulate. The source is a small drip in the ceiling that comes and goes. Note the warping in places. In my non-professional opinion it would be difficult to say whether it took months or years but I would venture that it couldn't have happened in days or weeks. Your thoughts?
  16. I own a unit in Chiang Mai which has been unoccupied for the the past 10 years. Recently management informed me that the ceiling of a bathroom unit below had been damaged due to a cracked drain pipe underneath my unit which services my apartment only. I was told that if I used their contracted plumber, the repair would cost 5,000 plus another 2,000 to replace and repaint the ceiling of the unit below (parts and labour). I noticed that my own unit also has stains in the ceiling in the same place, and management conceded that the problem has affected many units. My own unit has the master turned off and I checked thoroughly for any running water or leaks. Everything is bone dry. Management explained that what was happening was that water from the main vertical downpipe (common property that services all units) was 'back-splashing' into the horizontal pipe that services my unit and then out the crack. So that's apparently how water can be leaking from an unoccupied unit with the mains off. Questions: 1. If water can 'back-splash' from a main downpipe, isn't this a flaw in the plumbing design? I concede that if my unit was occupied then water would likely be coming from my unit also. So it seems to me that the cost here should be shared between me and common property. 2. I don't see myself as responsible for the repairing the ceiling below. I was told that the unit below had been occupied for many years so the problem should have been reported at the first signs with a little paint (after the leak had been repaired of course) but the owner waited until much of the ceiling was stained and warped. Perhaps the price of a can of a paint as a goodwill gesture? 3. Is it reasonable to ask for some kind of guarantee that the repairs needed for the pipes above my unit will be covered before agreeing to pay for any repairs? 4. Does the 5,000 for the pipe repair seem reasonable? Am I wrong or being unreasonable? informed feedback appreciated.
  17. You know, the mall with Robinson, cinema etc. Anyways it was in the parking garage as BrandonJT explained. I got there just before 8.30. Not a soul was waiting. Very different experience from Chiang Mai. I was done in 10 minutes 🙂
  18. Have you had a problem where a bathroom ceiling becomes stained due to a minor a leak from the pipes above? Or have you been asked to have a leak repaired that is affecting the ceiling below? You can reply here but it might be better to send me a private message as obviously the issue doesn't concern the vast majority of people using this forum. Thanks.
  19. I haven't been to the immigration office in Central before. I understand that access is from the car park but I'm not sure which level. I'd like to get there early and queue up if that's a possibility. Thanks
  20. Yes it's in official arrangement or yes it's their personal enrichment?
  21. Last time I entered Thailand, it was at Phuket Airport. The queues were very long. An official-looking person approached me and said that if I wanted to get through immigration faster, I could pay a 100 baht fee to get fast-tracked. Is this an official arrangement at Thai airports, or is it just the local immigration organising it themselves to earn extra pocket money?
  22. Friend who needs money is helping with some moving. Need a large hand trolly or two man sling to move a big fridge. Stairs involved so no alternative really.
