Picture: Thai Rath Police in Khon Kaen are so worried about the menace from drugs like Ya Ba that they are arming the population. They have started a project that translates as One Prod Per Sub-District. These are prods and poles designed to subdue people high on amphetamines or booze who are creating a public nuisance. Picture: Thai Rath The police were on hand to train 180 participants in how to do their job...before they arrive on the scene that is. Thai Rath called it new tech but it seemed low tech but effective according to locals who gave the thumbs up to the initiative. Picture: Thai Rath People noted that there has been an explosion in drug and mental health related cases meaning that kamnans and phu yai ban (local leaders) are often left with no recourse but to take matters into their own hands before the RTP can turn up. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-09-15 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Sanook Thai Caption: "Makheua" numbers under a coffin Thailand is almost at fever pitch as another lottery draw is coming tomorrow, Friday. Experts are looking for ways to get the all important numbers like the last three digits. The latest craze is passing makheua or small Thai green aubergines under the coffins of dead people, then cutting them up to divine the numbers, reported Sanook. This worked for a drawing in August with many winning on the number 358 following a guy's TikTok post about his departed gran. Now the same person's aunt has shuffled off her mortal coil too and this time the numbers are different. In a viral video viewed two million times people were being told to back 868 or 550 on the back of aunty's demise. It seems Thais will go anywhere for an edge in winning the lottery, notes ASEAN NOW. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-09-15 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Picture: Siam Rath Siam Rath published lots of pictures of farmers forlornly pointing at what is loosely referred to as their road. It's a mass of tire tracks and rivulets and they can't get their produce through to market. Some one hundred complainants from five villages across two sub-districts gathered to tell the media their version of road rage. Picture: Siam Rath Phajon, 59, said they were fed up with it all. Many locals turned out to do the activity favored at such protests - a bit of pointing as they demanded that the relevant authorities get repairing. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-09-15 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Thai Rath reported on the aftermath of an accident in Nonthaburi on the Bang Kruay - Sai Noi Road in which a 12 year old boy was hit by a motorcyclist while using a Zebra Crossing. Both are in a grievous condition in hospital and have been unable to give evidence as yet. The boy is in Phra Nang Klao Hospital with a brain hemorrhage, fractured collarbone and damage to his central nervous system. The biker Theerin, 25, has severe facial injuries in Bang Bua Thong Hospital. The boy's mother Orn, 39, spoke of problems for insurance for her son. The hospital told her because it was an accident she needs to front up money first despite the fact she has the universal health coverage (bat thong). Her son is a M1 pupil at Bang Bua Thong School. Police said they are waiting on reports of the severity of the injuries and the recovery of the motorcyclist and the pedestrian before proceeding in the matter. A resident at the scene said they need a pedestrian overpass; there have been many accidents there and drivers rarely stop at the Zebra. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-09-15 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
