Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) has warned people not to spray alcohol disinfectant all over their bodies, after details of a woman who burnt herself after she sprayed herself with alcohol and then lit a mosquito coil were posted online, causing concern among netizens. Deputy Secretary-General of the TFDA, Weerachai Nolwachai explained that alcohol spray is highly flammable. Therefore, people should never use alcohol spray, which is only meant for the hands, to spray all over their bodies, as people can burn themselves, especially when used near a naked flame or spark. He also advised that people should spray alcohol and rub it onto their hands for at least 20 seconds, so the alcohol evaporates. 13. By: Na-ark Rojanasuvan BANGKOK (NNT) - The recently created "war room" addressing the issue of commodity price hikes, particularly for pork and palm oil, has suggested that pork and palm oil prices are starting to fall. The announcement was made by Boonyarit Kalayanamit, permanent secretary to the Ministry of Commerce. He said red meat costs at hypermarkets have risen to between 164 and 170 baht per kilogram. The price is significantly less than the previous range of 187 to over 200 baht per kilogram. Chicken prices also appear to be stabilizing, drumsticks with thighs offered in malls for 65 baht per kilogram and at wet markets for around 70-75 baht per kilogram. Additionally, Boonyarit said the price of bottled palm oil is on the downward trajectory and prices will eventually fall as farmers continue to supply the market with new products. He did, however, remind consumers that the present inventory is derived from stocks. This suggests that prices should remain constant at their current level for the next few weeks before showing a noticeable decrease. Palm oil is now priced between 64 and 65 baht at convenience stores and 61-62 baht in malls. Additionally, the permanent secretary said officials are continuing to monitor cold storage and slaughterhouses for any discrepancies. He reminded cold storage businesses that keep more than 5 metric tons of pork in their weekly inventory to report to the Department of Internal Trade. Recent inspections discovered 12 violators in six provinces who failed to file their weekly reports. -- © Copyright NNT 2022-02-09 - Aetna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. 23. Paul Rujopakarn BANGKOK (NNT) - Hundreds of freight trucks deliberately clogged a major thoroughfare of Bangkok on Tuesday, seeking to pressure the government into lowering diesel prices. The protesting trucks and taxi drivers crawled along the main northbound highway out of Bangkok, with some carrying banners demanding that the energy minister resign for failing to make fuel affordable. The Land Transport Federation of Thailand said it wants the price for a liter of diesel capped at 25 baht, 5 baht lower than the 30 baht per liter cap that the Ministry of Energy has maintained since October. The ministry has said the real price is 35 baht per liter, which reflects the rise in prices globally. Ministry Spokesperson Sompop Pattanariyankool said truck drivers’ demands would require 18 billion baht (US$546.8 million) per month in state subsidies. -- © Copyright NNT 2022-02-09 - Aetna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
