  1. NEWLY-NAMED Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin Monay (Sep.4) told Pheu Thai members of cabinet to “never say no” to people about anything under their own responsibilities. Over luncheon at the Pheu Thai headquarters, the prime minister suggested all 17 Pheu Thai ministers that they “never say no” to people who may have asked them for help with their woes or decline to do anything under the pretext of budget or time constraints whilst they are primarily dutifully bound to do it. “This is a government of the people since we were all elected by the people to work for them. Whenever we visit people, we should never say we cannot get things done or cite budget or time constraints as excuses,” Srettha told the Pheu Thai members of cabinet. 2. Could Srettha Be Free Of Thaksin’s Influence? Academic By Thai Newsroom Reporters Prime Minister Srettha Thavisn, right, and Pheu Thai de facto boss Thaksin Shinawatra. 3. A PROMINENT ACADEMIC said Monday (Sep.4) he wondered if Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin could practically be independent of de facto Pheu Thai boss Thaksin Shinawatra. Thammasat University law lecturer Prinya Thaewanarumitkul commented that nobody could be completely positive that Srettha could be practically free of Thaksin’s alleged influence which has allegedly prevailed over all members of the Pheu Thai rank and file. Thaksin’s sister/deposed prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra had allegedly pushed for the naming of the real estate tycoon as a Pheu Thai candidate for prime minister who was given a decisive yea vote from senators last month. Nevertheless, the de facto Pheu Thai boss who had allegedly taken part in power play allocating cabinet portfolios among coalition partners literally from his hospital bed might probably try to keep the newly-named prime minister under control, according to the Thammasat law lecturer. 9. Social media was ablaze yesterday with complaints about the online application process for the professional teacher exam. Internet users were left frustrated by the high cost and limited availability of spaces. Some had to travel to different provinces for the exam and questioned whether a survey of potential applicants had been conducted before the opening. Yesterday, the Office of the Secretary of the Teachers’ Council announced the test and assessment of the professional competence of teachers. The testing is based on the knowledge and professional experience according to the professional standards of teachers. The first round for this year was open for online registration from 4 to 22 September on the website of the Office of the Secretary of the Teachers’ Council. However, on the first day of professional teacher exam registration, there were many criticisms online. The hashtag #ProfessionalTeacherLicense became the second most trending topic. Many users complained that all the exam venues filled up quickly after registration opened, and some reported that the system had crashed the night before, reported Sanook. “There are hundreds of thousands of people who want to take the exam, but they only accept tens of thousands. Not everyone has access to the exam venues, and the exam fee is expensive.” by Neill Fronde Photo: Peelings media/Istock Full story: https://thethaiger.com/news/national/frustration-mounts-over-costly-and-limited-professional-teacher-exam-registration-in-thailand -- The Thaiger 2023-09-04 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. 10. Thai Rice Exports Up 11.9% YOY by Paul Rujopakarn BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand’s rice exports surged 11.9% year-on-year to 5.29 million tons as of August 29 this year, according to recently released data. Full story: https://aseannow.com/topic/1305496-thai-rice-exports-up-119-yoy/
  11. BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand’s rice exports surged 11.9% year-on-year to 5.29 million tons as of August 29 this year, according to recently released data. Data from the Ministry of Commerce showed the kingdom exported rice valued at US$2.56 billion in the first seven months of 2023, an increase of 20.73% from a year earlier. Ronarong Poolphiphat, Director-General of the ministry’s Foreign Trade Department, said the increase in Thai rice shipments was attributed to concerns over droughts as a result of the El Nino weather phenomenon. India’s rice export ban was also cited as a factor, as it prompted rice-importing countries to buy more to maintain food security. Ronarong told a news conference that a stable Thai baht against the U.S. dollar and competitive export prices with those of other exporters, such as Vietnam and Pakistan, also supported the rice export growth. He further noted that the commerce ministry maintains its forecast of Thai rice shipments at 8 million tons this year. by Paul Rujopakarn Source: https://thainews.prd.go.th/en/news/detail/TCATG230904110535601 -- NNT 2023-09-04 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
