Most thai roofs is leaking. They simply do not have building tradition to make it tight, most concrete tiles here is layed direct on a steel construction without any underroof. The steel construction is working much under the heat, much more than the roof stones, thats the first way to get a leaking roof and broken roof stone. The next problem is the overlay between the stones, many roofs here have to little overlay (makes better profit to the buildingcompany) If you of one or another reason dont make a underroof, you must tight the roof from the underside between the tiles, I have never seen that here. I had not seen or got that idea before, that Zongshen is/could be the mother of small motorbike engines from China, that make sence in many ways and also open the possibilities that engines and many other parts fits between different china motorbike brands. I think you are right about Lazada vs Aliexpress, I have just been happy that nearly all things on Lazada can be delievered COD, but in many ways it seems Aliexpress is much better when it comes to mechanical parts. And I get crazy at the Lazada search engine, gives so many wrong and useless hits when you are searching for exactly things. Thanks again for your good advices.

As a hobby project, I am thinking to buy a Stallion 250 motorbike to renovate. I am not sure about the engine, if its worth to renovate it or simply to change with a new Lifan engine if it fits the body. Does a Lifan engine fits to stallion body ? How to find out ? I have that idea that many of the chinese motorbike brands 150-250 cc is with rebadget lifan engines, but maybe I am wrong. Lifan is easy to get info on the internet and DIY spareparts on Lazada etc.. And I am not sure if I will get ruined if I go and ask for main engine spareparts at a Stallion dealer.

It depends on what kind of life you wants. Some like the night/bar life. Some like the beach. Some like the metropole. Some like an active life in the nature. Some like a farmlife. Etc etc Thailand have it all, but its on very different places in LOS, no place have it all. You must be sure about your self what kind of life you want, then you can find your place here.

If all the flight compagnies, who are flying to LOS, where more responsible about controlling for covid, it should not be necassary to make this close down for tourists. An example: A couple from Scandinavia want to have their Cristmas and new year in LOS, they take all the tests before and have all the quality vax, when they enter the plane to LOS, every thing should be ok. When they arrived in LOS they get tested positive ............, where do they get infected ? I will not make a lot of conspirations theories, but who is making a lot of dirty money on the covid positive tourists, when they arrive in LOS ? When they arrived in Thailand they get placed/isolated in an overpriced state quaratine hotel, that was ok with them, they do not have any symptoms, but understand the situation, after a few days they get forced to move to a private hospital, where they can spread the infection and get bankrupt, that is not ok. One of the couples is a leading scribent on one of the biggest breakfast papers in scandinavia, he is writing very angry, he is now becomming an negative salesman for LOS with more than 500.000 daily readers. They understand how to take care of the COVID and tourist buisness in lo.........

To mee there is another important point, thats about delievery times. Lazada is realy slowing down and allow their courier companies to send the orders around from hub to hub to hub to............ Now normal delievery times to my address is around 1 week for national orders and around 3 week for orders from China. The other day I see an express shopee delievery car, maybe shopee is going to do something about the delievery problem ?

You are going in to a very specialized buizness, with buying just the fertilized eggs, generally most suppliers for hatcheries is very big specialized contract producers, here is your 1000 eggs to small orders. I dont know what your buisness idea is with the eggs/chicks, but if you want a high qualified product, for as an example, meat or egg laying production you must be sure you get the right eggs/chickens. The market is in 2 levels, the industrial level with some very big compagnies (not only one, starting with a C ) the industrial level is the absoslute biggest and very difficult to get in there, if you are small, then there is a "private" market, not very big and very unorganized, but possible to use, the main problem is the quality as you can not believe in. I have a smaller layer farm (500 layers) every 1,5-2 year I change them when the production performance is going to low. When I started my main problem was to find a quality supplier in the "private" market, the industrial suppliers was not interested in dealing with a small producer like me. I have now making the production some years and have the luck to find a good serious supplier in the "private" market, but I have changed the hens some times before I was lucky to find a good one. You must build up your own private knowing network, I had a lot of good information from my food supplier also an animal doctor who are specialized in your direction is a person who have a lot of knowing in the area, but take care of the bla bla people, dont waist your time when you find out they know a dam sh.t. Funny other places, like Venecia as an example, is not crazy about these cruise ships. The cruise tourists live and have their main life on the ship and is only using small money when they go on the small few hour trips in land. Hard to see that this can safe the tourist industri in LOS.

Yes I agree with you. The way they handling the issue is quite clear, they just want to make it more difficult for normal retires to retire in LOS. They do not have any empathy for retires who have maked their life here on normal pensions and have believed in LOS and used their money here.

I do not believe there is many western visa holders who is leaving the country with unpaid hospital bills. I do believe there is a lot of Myanmar, Laos illegal workers who can not pay their hospital bills. But in thai logic we/they are all tourists, so now the retirement people must pay for the illegal workers. In my mind the thai society could/should make a fair health care tax for retirement people to enter at the public hospital system on the same conditions as the thai people

I have a "portable" aircon, a 14000 btu with outside connection it works ok. Bought it 2 years ago only cleaning filters. The price was around 8000 baht, it was an offer in Thai Watsadu. But but it is not very economical, i think it is using around 50 % more power than a fixed one with outside compressor, the portable ones is build very compressed with the heat and cold units beside in the cabinet. And it is making some noise, much more than a fixed one with outside unit. Technical it is ok and working as expected and can cool down a bedroom on the sunny side. To use as an extra cooling unit for sometimes use it is fine, but for every day use I will not recommend it.

I will advice you to think in some heat isolation of the house, specially the sunny south side of the house and the roof. Thai builders is not very familiary with isolation of family houses, do not expect any thing in this way, if you do not demand it. Be prepared to be much time on the construction site to follow all types of the constructionswork, be prepared at many discusions with the building people. It will be a hard work to your wife. We where not using a head company when we where building our house, we where hiring directly bricklayer, electrician etc, we where happy for that, but you must have good connections locally to do that. One of my friends hired a head company to do the hole house, he had to go on a lot of compromises with quality, material and technical solutions, he never get happy with the house. Basicly be very critical before you write under any housebuilding contract. Not many farrangs know the thai language or thai contract rules, be carefull. I wish you good luck with the housebuilding

There is no science evidence for the booster shot can be only 50 % of the recommended dose from the producer. My thai wife get 2 chinese isopharm shot just to give her some protection when she is waiting for the Moderna shots, as we paid for 5 months ago, she want the 2 shot of Moderna to get the best protection, now we will see if she can get that or she only can get one 50 % shot.

More activity in the the thai society to serve the tourists, will give more infections. The tourists is not the problem, the low wax rate in Thailand at around 38 % is the problem. Its a high risk as a western tourist to come here, get covid here and get trapped in a overpriced, no service, quarantine hotel.

Vaccinated people can get the covid virus - BUT if you are vaxed with good vax, you will normally fight down the cowid in a short time and in many cases you will even not get the covid virus working inside you before the vax have fighted down the virus. That means vaxed people will only carry the virus a short time and that is the point about the hole vax program, do not spread the virus, with good vaccine, in worst case, you will only have a short time to spread the virus.

After I stopped to follow the politics here close I get more relaxed, comming from a western country where you have obligation to follow and be an active part in the democraty, I should learn to understand that its not a part of farrang living in this country. Royal thai police arrest swiss farrang making selfdefence in his own house. So now we can not defend our self in our own houses against armed thai robbers. The farrang only did a good job, helped Thailand free of a armed thai killer/robber. If they want him to jail for that, farrangs can not believe in any justice in LOS.

The focus is wrong. The turists is generally well vaccinated and free of covid, they are not the problem. The problem is the covid in Thailand and all the sick local people, an epedemi not under control. Basicly sandbox is an good idea, but only if you are able to keep the local people in good health and free of covid. And do not forget tourist want holidays with fun and freedom.

2 years ago I changed my international driving licence to a Thai private driving licence, based on my passport and longterm visa, all without problems. Now it is time to make a renewal to a 5 year license, then the problems began. I checked up the DLT website and maked the online 1 hour test, could not make an reservation, because the reservation app want a thai ID nr, thought that should only give some more wait time at the office. Go to hospital - get health certificate. Go to immigration - get residence certificate all paperwork should be ok. Then I go to my local village office for vehicle papers, to ask what and how to do, now with covid etc etc, he answered me the provincial DLT office is closed because of covid, hmmmm. I asked some around and just get more confused. I took my wife under my arm and go to the provincial office, there I see an open DLT office, making licenses to a lot of Thais. We go to the desk and the staff asked for a queue/ appointment proof, I answered I could not make it because I do not have a thai ID nr, then I could not make the renewal, the staff answered and show the door, hmmmm. Home again still with an expired driving license. The DLT want an appointment based on a 13 digit thai id, then I used my 13 digit vax ID and could open the appointment app and make an appointment. Yesterday I went to the DLT office again on my appointment date/time, showed them my appointment paper, they took it and controlled it and went back and said they could not see I have maked any appointment, grrrrrrr. Now the wife began to wake up and prepare for war against the office staff, some time this temper is good and other times not so good. Under the argue the head of the office arrived. He talked with the staff and my wife, then they took a look of the papers and the licence card, the staff asked where I got that license from, we told this office maked it 2 years ago, the staff and office head talked again, then they said they will control my license card, it does not looks ok. We answered no problems. The staff look tired, the head said to one of the underdogs he must go to the paper file and see if there was any papers on that license card. After some waiting time the underdog come back with my paperfile from 2 years ago, showing the paperwork for my driving license. Then the staff gave up and began to make the renewal paperwork........... Make the colour test and reaction test and then to the photo/card station and then I got my new 5 year driving license. I dont know what the real problem is, are the DLT covid confused or farrang confused, I will never find out, but not a good experience. Next time I will not try with my vax ID, maybe the license card ID number or maybe the public administration in my region will change and give pink cards to farrangs who are living in their area. My experience, do not hope others need to be a part of this cirkus.

Pattaya is world famous for its bar, massage and nigtlife, nothing else. The beach, with the dirty water running out from the hole town, running out directly in the beach is not very ............. I can hardly imagine Pattaya as a family resort

In many decades Toyota and Isuzu have being the most reliable cars in daily use and the service costs, and sales price as a used car. Its hard to believe that the chinese should be able to match this, but only time can shows. At our little farm, we have an old diesel Isuzu around 1995 for the hard work, we use it as a heavy loaded small/big truck, we only check oil and water, then it runs day after day, year after year and the small mainteinance is on the level : hammer and chewing gum. I can hardly believe you can find many other cars, which are reliable like this. Another thing is design an comfort, here is a lot of other possibilities, some like the daughter and some like the mother and some take them both. I think it is a lottery to buy a new chinese brand, they must give a very very good offer, if I should buy a model like this you suggest.
