Use BOLT taxi service, app is super easy to use, a little cheaper than GRAB.

Bolt has options of car with full taxi branding, motorcycle or 'econo' car, meaning basic car in good condition and very clean, no taxi branding. I use 'Econo' car, about 10 to 15 Baht cheaper than branded taxi.

One item: BOLT curently only accept cash, soon to be changed to have QR code etc. Drivers always have change.

Can add extra details of location of pick up in English, their app automatically/immediately changes your message to Thai for the driver.

App shows where the car is all the time.

    BOLT driver's courteous and focused.

Agreed. I have used them several times. Excellent service.  Bolt is also present in Paris: cheaper than Uber.

Actually I fully support DeSantis and his book ban. If you listen to some of the parents of kids reading from them they are clearly obscene materials.

That said , I really have never under stood exactly why ALL books are not age rated - if movies are, then books should be too. Some of the fiction books I have read have been extremely graphic, yet a 6 year old can just walk in a shop and buy it

Yes, let’s have a public auto-da-fé with banned books in America. Also, let’s create an inquisition to torture teachers who dare teach as they see fit. Let’s go back to obscurantism! Hurrah for mind control! We need a Big Brother! May Fahrenheit 451 and 1984 become reality!

No, the report clearly says "Initial reports from the injured suggested that the van went out of control", so it was the van, not the driver. ????

Solve these problems with banning travelling at night in minivans... drivers are often tired or sleepy as driving in the dark is more difficult...And when will they get a decent rest???

Indeed, these vans are very dangerous: they seem to be irresistibly attracted to power poles, trees, road signs, to slippery roads and sharp road turns. What can the poor drivers do?

When is the government going to wake up and regulate this business?

Indeed, never. And the carnage will continue costing this nation an inordinate amount of money. There is no will to change anything : too much trouble. Let the people die on the roads, we have more important things to do, like getting bribes, putting demonstrators in jail, preparing the next coup.

This was only a family of poor people... So no need for the big guns to get involved with announcements of a nationwide ‘crack-down’....  :whistling:  (before I’m flamed yes, that was sarcasm btw)

... Seriously though...  every day it becomes more apparent that those in positions of decision making power really do not care enough to impact any change whatsoever.

We see a lick of paint on the odd pedestrian crossing, a periodic spat of alcohol check-points (agree 100% with the comments posted by ‘bert got kinky’).

    - We do not see any efforts to educate people on road safety (or any safety for that matter).

    - We do not see any increase in 'on the road policing' of driving standards.

    - We do not see any severe penalties for those who break laws.

    - We do not see any proactiveness whatsoever.

    - We do see only a reaction whenever there are tragic but fully preventable consequences.

    - We do see the laziest possible manner of policing with automatic camera fines’ (which ppl don’t pay).

    - We do see the laziest possible manner of policing with intermittent check points.

    - We do see those who break laws frequently getting away with it with bribes.

    - We do see that money can wash away the consequences of breaking laws.

    - We do see those in authority (police) breaking the very same laws they are supposed to uphold.

And almost right on que....the top cop is transferred!

We all know the investigation into this gambling den is just the usual pantomime from the RTP. They have known and benefitted for a long time!

Indeed, what took them so long? 4 months? Who are they kidding? And what happens to the bribe money? Will those I’ll-gotten gains ever be retrieved from the culprits somehow? What a charade!
