Neighbour Arrested for Brutal Murder of Woman in Nakhon Si Thammarat
Another story of psychotic rage from Nakhorn Sri Thammarat. Just ask any Thai from any of the other 76 provinces what they think of when that province is mentioned. I bet you it is psychopaths, murders and nought-to-one hundred rage with extreme violence.

Methanol Cocktails Leave Two Australian Women Critically ill in Thailand
For those unfamiliar, Vang Vieng is a lot more backpacker-oriented than other destinations in Laos (and Thailand). Think something like Pai. There is a lot of competition to get the custom into specific bars and restaurants. This "free vodka shot" idea seems to have been very ill-conceived. It would be interesting to hear from anyone on the ground in Vang Vieng what the response from the government has been.

Food delivery rider fined 1,000 baht for firing gun at dogs
Using a scattergun approach?? Trying to wipe out every dog in the soi?? Or just randomly shooting anywhere?? 1000 Baht fine?? Good job the police have the interests of the law-abiding tax-paying community at heart. 🙁

Revved up: Thai man’s motorcycle stolen in Pattaya
I have known Thais to leave the key in the bike for "convenience". However we don't know if that is what happened here. From the various online videos available of Pattaya bike thief gangs, i. they always work in groups. ii. if they don't have a key/can't start the bike, an accomplice on a motorbike will push them using the back footpeg as the contact point. They can put some distance between the stolen bike and the point it was stolen from very quickly using this method.

5 year multiple entry DTV visa (Destination Thailand) from 2024-xx-xx
I am planning to spend around 140 days in Thailand on this particular entry on the DTV then go back to Europe for a month. I am weighing up the 90-day notification options. I will not be able to do it online as I am not in the 90-day notification database. Option 1. Border bounce. I can't think of a good reason to go to Laos or Malaysia but perhaps it will come to me. How much is a border run by van to Cambodia from Pattaya these days? Option 2. Ignore it. I don't think this is a good plan. You never know when you will need a bit of paper from Immigration. Option 3. Do the 90-day notification which involves all the document collation, going down to Jomtien and opening up the Pandora's box of going into Immigration. What do you advise?

Reset Network Settings
My phone connected to my wifi fine. However my laptop said it was connected to the wifi but there was no internet service. This did not make sense to me so I googled it. I tried a number of solutions. The last one was "reset network settings". To my surprise, it worked. The only thing I had to do after the reset was reinstall my VPN. Not only that, my computer is now faster. I have no idea what I did. 😃

DTV or retirement visa ?
False statements not required at all. Just book a health check up at a major hospital. If you don't like the DTV, that's fine but please don't say it is not possible for a retiree to obtain one. Because that is not factual.
-
DTV or retirement visa ?
There are 3 categories under which you can apply. Your post only refers to the "workcation" category. A retiree could easily apply under the "soft power" category using a medical appointment in Thailand. So I believe it is very possible to change from extensions due to retirement to DTV if the foreigner thinks it works for them.

DTV or retirement visa ?
Really, are you sure? Do you have a source for this? Or are you just assuming that DTV holders will not need to contact Immigration? However, they will if they want a TM30, a COR for vehicle registration etc., an extension of the initial 180 days which is allowable. I don't think they are exempt from the 90-day regime.

How the Church of England Covered Up John Smyth's Horrific Abuses at Summer Camps
It is very important to understand that the first rule of the child abuser / groomer is to make the victim feel utterly powerless, ashamed and guilty. It is also very important to understand that as a result of the guilt, shame and powerlessness, the vast majority of victims do not tell anyone about their abuse for decades, least of all their parents. And the small minority that do try to tell somebody in authority at the time often find it extremely difficult to articulate clearly what happened. And if the very small minority who tell somebody are able to be clear, they are often dismissed or not believed. This is why way over 90% of instances of child abuse are not uncovered until a very long time after, if ever. When discussing child abuse, it is so important to bear this in mind. It is very very difficult for the victim to talk about it coherently or at all. It is not the same as walking down the street and somebody punches you in the face.

Maid Receives 235-Year Sentence for Massive Gold Thefts in Thailand
There is a maximum cap of time to be served. Perhaps somebody can help me out with this. So, here she was sentenced to 255 years, the cap will kick in and they will be released at that time. It may possibly be 25 years but I am not sure. The sentence reflects the relative social positions of the criminal and the victim. Peasant class criminal and affluent victim equals huge sentence in Thailand. Also theft is punished far more seriously than in Western countries.
