Thailand is promoting VISA's for the wealthy but I don't think the Thai government understands that there are far more of us middle class retirees and visitors. We the middle class may not buy the big ticket items but we will spend our hard earned cash at the food stalls and small shops keeping the mom and pop stores open and their families in business.

Tourism is one factor that Thailand depends on to boost their economy and everyone knows that. Decisions are made based on the information of others by a PM, President, business owner, CEO. etc. As I use to tell my staff garbage in garbage out. The staff members that give only opinion based information was dismissed. Facts matter. The point I am trying to make is during these tough times it seems the information that most get is opinions. Look at the response from other countries and make your decisions based on best case results. If Thailand's PM isn't given these results by staff members they need to go. And for God sakes don't listen to Dr. Antony Fauci or the WHO. The safety, health, and will being should come first for any government. Last thought, I don't think negative comments help anyone or anything during this pandemic. World leaders have some real tough decisions to make.

Isn't there an "or" clause where you can show a guaranteed income rather than a sum of money that may be needed during those two months?

Lockdowns will not stop this viruses from spreading. Common sense hygiene and consideration of others will slow the spread of COVID. The UK and a hand full of states in America have implemented this approach and have seen no significant escalation in the virus. The small mom pop restaurants are suffering. The big chain restaurants are suffering, too. You can't set and enjoy a meal or pizza (I love pizza) for an afternoon or evening out with the family. Come in set down and keep your mask on until you begin to eat. Have you ever been in one of the big box stores standing in line at the checkout and someone stands right next to you now that is inconsiderate. My point here being LOCKDOWNS won't work.
