  1. Mistakenly, many golfers think they are insured by the golf course (included in their green fee) That is quite simply NOT the case generally. Highlighting this with my fellow golfers, (by the way I am insured on a worldwide policy from the UK) it seems they will still take a cavalier approach and not bother with any third party or any type of golfers insurance. Lack of insurance in any way is OK if you are prepared to take the risk, but woe betied when lack of insurance comes back to bite you. My UK policy costs (valid worldwide) . around £50 (2000 baht ish) and covers me for allsorts, (personal liability, loss of clubs and even the most impossible scenario which is getting a "hole in one!"

  2. What's unclear to me is what happens to people who already extended on a tourist visa then were given the extension/amnesty until 31 July . I'm sorta reading that if you can't come up with one of the reasons to extend further then they will tell you to get out ASAP and not give you another extension As for letters from embassy, last week UK embassy told me they weren't issuing letters. That may have changed after this announcement?

the point is it's not a one off, it's usually 3 times a week vs farangland where often membership is unlimited golf and inexpensive, most people don't do the sums

The OP was about golf in Thailand I believe and i was just pointing out the current deals in Phuket Yearly/life membership here can be quite expensive but my club in the UK charges £1600 for full year membership You can of course pay and play at other courses in the UK, probably cheaper than being a member somewhere (which is currently the case in Phuket with all the deals going on!)  Similarly, other areas of Thailand (Pattaya and environs for example) are a lot cheaper than Phuket! So, I don't know what your point is with relevance to the topic and the fact that this is a Thailand forum for people in Thailand mainly. When I am in Farangland I cut my cloth accordingly ref golf. Ref the OP subject heading, courses in Thailand are suffering but surprisingly some of the courses in Phuket are understanding the economics of generating cash flow and revenue via "bums on seats" versus the previous norm of raising prices when business was slow.

I saw something about Blue Canyon looking reasonable, then they added in caddie and cart, which then makes it around 2500.

What courses are having some all in deals?  I wouldn't mind getting in some decently priced rounds here.

Blue Canyon (Canyon or lakes) is 6000 for a 4 ball including  buggie caddy beer and snacks after 7000 for a 5 ball on lakes No residence requirements needed Laguna is 6000 4 ball green fee and caddie only (residents only) Loch Palm 1500 green fee buggie caddie food parcel and voucher Tuesdays 4 balls only and Red Mountain 2000 on Wednesdays Mission Hills also have deal but not as good as BC and LP/RM  Try Also Phuket expat golf society and Divots golf society

Oh stop your BS! It is the responsibility of the golf course to pay her. She is their employee and they are the company allowing her to work and Golfers being foreigners or Thai to use their facility. Responsibility is not  the Guest but the Establishment. Get it? do you golf? Have you ever golfed? Even professional golfers don't pay compensation. Get it?

I think you need a reality check fella! There are very few golf courses around the world that include golfers personal liability insurance in their green fees. It is incumbent on the golfer to ensure they are insured It is not only a caddy they might injure but possibly anyone else on or near the golf course they are playing .As for clubs insuring their caddies, well I would agree it is a separate issue but highly unlikely that clubs in Thailand provide them with it IMVHO.

Policies for golfers are available around the world and give world insurance.

See below for an example of what insurance companies offer.

    What is Golfer’s Insurance?

It is a plan to indemnify you for loss or damage while playing or practicing at any recognized golf club or golf course.

    It covers:

    • Protects your legal liability to third parties including accidental bodily injury to a caddie arising from accidents caused by you

I think the point is, a lot of people were complaining there was no way to leave, so there MUST be another visa extension for those who live on tourist visas.

They are now arranging flights out - so come September there can be no crying, no wailing, no moaning that its impossible to leave and so another extension must happen...........  its quite clear that the 26th September is the final date.

If you have not left by then and still on a tourist visa, you will likely be in trouble.

I think people from certain places (Europe especially?) who extended tourist visas BEFORE the 31 July amnesty might have an issue. They will have to prove their flight out of Thailand was cancelled and will surely be asked why they haven't taken one of the many flights that have been available in the interim. Maybe the excuse that the airline they were booked on still hasn't resumed flights or refunded their fare may wash? Personally I doubt it!

i have brought and sold a few condos over the years, i have never lost money when i have sold them never made much money either BUT i lived for years not having to pay rent.

Paying rent is dead money end of story, same as with anywhere else in the world.

Indeed! But it is lightly different renting in . foreign country IMHO 1) Let's say you decide to move on to pastures new -renting easy! 2) Seen some very extortionate management fees over here -renting, the owners problem not yours. 3) Build quality generally poor-renting move to a newer place when the other one starts deteriorating in quality.
