  1. No need for reshuffle since everything is going so well.
  2. Thanks guys for helping out. I know it was a weird request. He needed 100k exactly to show on one of his company accounts for some reason. Must be some accounting requirement but I don't know what for. I guess it was a trick to be eligible for tax reduction or something, I have no idea honestly. He is not desperate for money, like most he took a big hit during Covid but he is fine still. He says thanks as well for helping and was shocked I could get the answer here haha. You guys rock!
  3. ok, this is for a Thai friend who is getting a loan from a private financial institution. He needs 100,000 baht (full amount). He needs to keep 8% as a compensating balance during the loan period as a condition from financial place. If he borrows 108k, 8% of that is 8,640 baht so he will have 99,360 baht left, but he wants the full 100,000 baht to use. So that's why the financial place offered 108,695.65 because 8% of that amount = 8,695.65 baht so he still has 100,000 baht he can use. I just can't find the equation they used to find the 108,695.65 baht in the first place. That's what I want to show him so he'll understand better. I'm sorry, I know it is a silly question 555 thanks for helping out!
  4. Ok, so I apologize if that's not the right forum section. I have a friend that needs to get a 100,000 baht loan. He was offered to borrow with the condition that he maintains an 8% compensating balance during the loan period. Since he needs to spend the full 100,000, he has to borrow total 108,695.65 baht. He is lost as to why it is not 108k. Anyway, I understand the concept as to why he has to borrow slightly over 108k but I can't find the formula or equation to explain to him and I am puzzled. Any mathematics and finances genius who could help me out? ???? Sorry, I know it is a weird question...
  5. Actually a very good policy right now. Too many unregistered migrant workers who won't get checked for Covid in fear to be deported. Now the million dollar question! Will their employers be willing to pay the fees for their work permit? Because I don't see the migrant workers rushing to pay those fees, they're so tight they probably see it as a waste.
  6. You got your answer from the agent above. But, I have to say that lately for travel bookings, hotel deals, special restaurants deals, contractors to fix my place, plumbers and such, everyone has used Line with us. It's just the way it's done nowadays. More secure? I have no idea but we have to adapt to what they use nowadays if we want the quickest answer. I'm feeling old but hey, the world moves on ????
  7. Indeed, use Line as they usually prefer this app for communication nowadays. Contact a few agencies, get estimates and I'm pretty sure you'll get your answer as to who to choose. Be sure to select a verified agency that has positive reviews on the web and can actually deliver with their services. Some people have been ripped off in the past looking for bargains and ended up being scammed. I remember of a couple of threads on this forum where this occurred. You'll also get good recommendations here from trusted members. Good luck!
  8. The fact that they keep promoting domestic travels (bad idea btw) is not very reassuring as to when they will actually freely reopen the borders to international tourists...
  9. All the "probes" around this case are starting to get old... Has anyone been sentenced or even arrested since they started investigating a case which clearly indicates rampant corruption on all sides? It's like "we know that everyone knows that it was all corrupted but we need to keep a positive image by pretending to right the wrongs even though everyone knows we won't actually do anything" type of nonsense.
  10. I think the OP got the answer covered by now. Again, tell your friend to mind the Covid measures (Curfew at 9pm, could need a negative Covid test before leaving the country). But also, tell him to get there with at least a few hours left before his flight. Although it seems that paying the overstay fine can be done relatively fast, it would be a shame to miss his flight by arriving last minute and be held up by immigration.
  11. Should they have gotten rid of him by letting him go? Maybe.. But as mentioned in many posts, rules need to be enforced, and this rule of overstay makes sense. No visa or permission of stay, you leave the country or suffer the consequences. The embassy of Morocco should be taking care of his case, but I doubt they'll do much to help him. Hopefully, he has relatives somewhere that can bail him out.
  12. I wouldn't advise to let Chinese buy land here either but to be honest they are already doing that using proxies...
  13. Well, they do own a lot in countries nearby, Cambodia (where CP is launchin their 7/11s by the way), Laos, Myanmar. But they also have bought a lot of real estate in Europe and the US. It might not amount to much in a worldscale but they are still expanding Thai interests beyond their border while others can't do it here in Thailand.
  14. In terms of land in their own country and the fact they can buy abroad, yes they are in a good spot. If you ask about the rest of their economic and social affairs, that's another story.
  15. Wasn't really aware of that. Not doubting your statement, just didn't about it. Now, maybe through a BOI company?
  16. Well, by owning lands, buildings and such abroad. Look at what Central owns in Europe and you might reconsider your thought.
  17. So, they brought this idea up because they see us all farangs as massive alcoholics? ???? Granted, most foreigners I know (including myself) enjoy drinking, especially some decent wine. But seriously, my Thai friends drink way much more. They always had 6 to 12 bottles in the trunk of their car to bring to restaurants and just pay the corkage fee. Nonetheless, it wouldn't hurt if they reduce some taxes, duty cost or anything as these imported alcohol bottles are just not worth it here. But I think it will be much more enjoyed by Thais (middle and upper classes) than by us foreigners in terms of volume.
  18. I honestly think each country should preserve the ownership of their own land. But that's not the case in many countries nowadays. But then it should bilateral agreements. If a Thai can purchase a land in the US for example, they should allow US citizens to buy land in Thailand. Since Thailand forbids any foreigner to buy their land, they shouldn't be allowed to buy land abroad either. But I know that other countries see beneficial interests in selling their lands to whoever so it won't happen, Thailand is in a good spot right now. They keep their land and can expand their influence in other countries. Why would they change that?
  19. Yep! But since they keep getting away with it for so long, it's not a belief anymore, but an unfortunate fact...
  20. My gut feeling says no... Some groups are unfortunately above the law.
