  1. Probably, that's why he may have to get a 3rd shot of Astra somehow before leaving and then wait 28 days to avoid quarantine. Long planning ahead needed.
  2. Again, I'm not disagreeing with you in numbers. But man, did you walk in Sukhumvit lately? Nana to Phrom Phong is full of people laying down on the sidewalks... Again, you may not realize it, but Bangkok and many of its hotels and businesses need tourists. Otherwise, I wouldn't have gotten vouchers in 5* hotels for less than 1,000 baht. Trust me, if you were one of the affected people, you'd scream for borders to open freely. But as we established, we don't have to agree on everything and debate is one way we can make things go forward ????
  3. We're still in the middle of the wave. As they are vaccinating more and more, numbers have lowered (not enough I agree). Now, think about business owners who rely on volume. 1.04% chance of dying from Covid (as numbers stand in Thailand) or 100% chance to close down after getting under so much debt that it'll be impossible to go afloat again. And they'll probably have to keep paying back even after bankruptcy. You and me are probably not affected by these numbers, but millions here are. As I said, I'm all for waiting another month if results can be concrete. But you'll have to agree with me that whatever the government says doesn't mean it's going to be real...
  4. So, as mentioned many times above, contact the French embassy for an accurate answer. Things evolve fast and they are the only ones keeping tracks on a daily basis here in Thailand. You may have to do some quarantine there or pledge to do so. You may not have to. At the moment, you will have to do quarantine or sandbox here when you get back. The choice is yours, but get informed by relevant authorities if you want to avoid any mistakes. Again, good luck.
  5. The problem is that this dilemma has been going on for many many months already. I'm all for waiting another month if MRNA vaccines truly arrive in October and they vaccinate in mass like they never did before. But business owners depending on tourism may not be able to survive that long and there is no guarantee that the situation will have evolved by November. A complex situation, which the government has mishandled from beginning to end.
  6. Thanks but it doesn't mention about Sinovac + Astra which is what the OP got. It doesn't say how long he needs to have been vaccinated before arriving and no mention of PCR test or not. That's why he better get the info straight from the French embassy to avoid any mistakes.
  7. I am not 100% sure, but I don't think Sinovac + Astra is recognized by French authorities. Also, you may need to prove that your motive is urgent to avoid quarantine and probably have a PCR test done 72h before arrival. Your best option would be to contact the French embassy in Bangkok to have the proper details. So far, Thailand is classified as "orange" but things change fast and you may not get the most accurate answer here. Good luck!
  8. All I see is a real estate developer trying to sell condos, nothing new here. Obviously, he is going to present a positive outlook. I have never seen a salesman saying it's not a good time to buy his products... In his defense, I have a few friends from Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore who all asked me this year if it was a good time to buy real estate in Bangkok. I told them that I wouldn't, but I may very well be wrong. I can see some demand in SEA countries and China that may inject cash in real estate here when borders soon reopen. For myself, I still see new(ish) developments as being overpriced.
  9. Hoping for a happy ending here, no pun intended... The discovery of the Thai man's body 3 days prior is obviously not a good sign. But I don't like how they keep using the word "was" for Mr Hallermann in the article, nothing has been concluded yet...
  10. Some people are like that unfortunately... I have a friend who was getting ripped off over 100k a month by his gfs and was laughing about it. One day a motorbike driver charged him 20 baht more than the usual and he lost his cool, almost got into a physical situation about it. Nobody likes the feeling of being cheated, but for 10 baht.. not worth it... Like many of you said before, it is still dirt cheap compared to our home countries. Mine starts the meter at like 300 baht ????
  11. That is obviously what he would like to avoid. I guess he should go back to his visa agency and let them handle the Covid extension for him even if it'll cost him a bit more. Thank you all for your recommendations!
  12. Thank you, do you think that he could have any issues regarding the fact that he is changing from Volunteer to Covid extensions? Could he be asked questions?
  13. Soon is never a very reassuring word around here.
  14. Hey, sorry to jump on this thread for my own questions. A friend of mine is considering doing a Covid extension later this month. That would be his first. Does he need to have a TM30? He previously did a volunteer visa with an agency which was stamped in a small Issan province (we all know why). Any issue to try and go do it at Bkk immigration. Also, does he still need to go twice with an under consideration stamp or did they stop this practice and he can do it all at once? Thanks in advance.
  15. As I understand she'll need to be tested 72 hours or less before arrival. It can be an antigen rapid test though (cheaper). I might be wrong and happy to be corrected.
  16. After scrolling down all 5 pages, only thing I can say is that the country is doomed when such government imbeciles defend themselves this poorly and will probably still get a pass... Like Joe Ferrari saying he swore on his amulet he didn't mean to kill the guy... This is on the same level. Wondering if there are some actual Thai forums where people think like us, because at this point any other country would have started a whole revolution.
  17. They finally met the international standards of the Cayman Islands, Isle of Man, British Virgin Islands, Macau, Switzerland and the likes! Well done guys and welcome to the club ????
  18. Congratulations to him! Now, small joke... Thailand should get 2 gold medals for the most disabled government and mentally challenged tourism authorities (TAT). If the Olympic Games ever come to Thailand, they will expect 1.6 trillion foreign visitors spending half of the world's wealth. I'll see myself out now ????
  19. In case you'll be back in Thailand later on, you might want to have it done, just in case. But as for leaving, you won't have any issue I agree.
  20. Same, I had my first KFC experience here in Thailand, and it was my last as well. Their food is killing people faster than Covid... We're lucky to live in a country where fresh and proper food can be bought at reasonable prices from restaurants, I don't get why people keep on getting substandard junk food.
  21. The thing is, it is still fried food cooked in (many) days old oil... I don't think the chicken was the problem in the first place.
  22. This is coming from the current minister of finance, which was the minister of transport as of last year. Don't miss the train people!
