Honestly, with current travel restrictions (which may last longer than we hope), the 5 years Elite visa at 600k is not really worth it. the 1MB 20 years without limo may be more appropriate and worth the money. Since you are over 50, like many said before, you may be better off applying for a retirement visa. If you don't want any hassle, use a reputable visa agency. They can do 90 day reports for you as well. If you have Elite, they can also do these reports for you but the cost will be higher. It's all about you in the end, do you want to spend the large chunk of money now for Elite or keep it if ever needed and apply for much cheaper extensions? Both Elite and retirement can be done relatively easily.

Not sure for translating O-A to Elite, but if ok and in Bangkok, it would have to be done at Chaeng Watthana immigration office, not the airport if you are already inside the country.

My GF's relatives are close to a small local judge who earns about 100K per month, he lives in a small 3MB house he bought a long time ago and owns a car that is at least 20 years old. He has never been abroad and has just put a couple of millions into savings for his kids who are about to graduate university. He must have been doing it all wrong...
