Its not full proof but its better then being in non filtered air. Just remember every 3 minutes all air is filtered. That is quite impressive and far above any other system.

Wow wee!  Filtered air!  Stadtler is not impressed.  How much of the air is filtered?  Will a virus be filtered? If a virus cannot be filtered, then their claim is false.

Should Stadtler be put in jail for defamation just for the crime of pointing this out?

Stadtler should not think too much, as this information does not come from only Air Asia and is backed up by science.

What science? Stadtler thinks you are fibbing.  Are you fibbing.  If you are not fibbing, then you will easily post a link showing science to Stadtler.  Show Stadtler the science that claims a HEPA filter can catch a virus.

Yes, you are correct, the virus, by itself, can easily pass through a HEPA filter. But, the virus lives in small droplets of water that can easily be filtered, thereby making it effective.  Just like tnose masks, they don't stop the virus, they stop the droplets...

Stadtler loves a good challenge.  Tell Stadtler what the HEPA filter will do with a sneeze?  Assuming you are correct, and the droplet doesn't fall on the tray table, but does get "swooped up" by the HEPA filter, what happens to the virus once the droplet dissipates?  Stadtler thinks it blows through the airplane like a fart in the wind.

Stadtler would have been better impressed had Air Asia claimed to also stop farts cold, or is it stop farts warm.  Never you mind, it's a false claim.

Uh oh should Stadtler be jailed for questioning this very questionable claim by Air Asia?

Actually its not just air asia its standard in most airlines. They filter all the air every 3 minutes through a special hepa filter. Maybe Stadlter should find a machine with the same capacity. There was a whole piece why the air in airplanes was safer then in other places.  I doubt you have a machine capable of doing what they can do in airplanes. Next time investigate before you put your foot in your mouth when trying to bash Thai's

Also you will of course still need a mask for extra security.

Do you know how small a virus is?  It cannot be filtered by a HEPA filter.

  5. Maybe not.  Maybe they have super duper HEPA filters in the airplanes.  Stadtler wants one if that is the case.

Here is the text from the email:

We’re Practising Additional Cleaning and Hygiene Measures
From disinfecting the aircraft regularly to our hospital-grade HEPA filters (which remove 99.9% of all particles including viruses) we are maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness on board all our aircraft.

No, you didn't, and you're the one "off in the weeds".

Thailand's defamation laws are not the same as the US's, god knows why you referred to them.  Defamation suits are frequently successfully filed here regardless of whether the allegations against the "injured party" are true or not.  Perhaps you could look them up sometime.

"If said restaurant is serving alcohol in a coffee cup, stating so would not be false..."

Very true, but in Thailand if that claim is publicised the person making the assertion can be sued for defamation regardless.

    Pish posh.  Stop telling stories.

The poster who made the claim would be accusing the restaurant of breaking the law during the Covid-19 restrictions, that's defamation in Thailand.  Tell that to Stadtler when you see him, if you don't mind.  Thanks.

Stadtler is mildly amused by the logic used in the quoted statement.  Is defamation different under WUHAN FLU restrictions?

Perhaps Stadtler can help the poster with a proper legal definition:

    Quote

    The taking from one's reputation. The offense of injuring a person’s character, fame, or reputation by false and malicious statements. The term seems to be comprehensive of both libel and slander. Printing Co. v. Moulden, 15 Tex. Civ. App. 574,41 S. W. 381; Moore v. Francis, 121 N. Y. 199, 23 N. E. 1127, 8 L. R. A. 214, 18 Am. St.Rep. 810; Hollenbeck v. Hall, 103 Iowa, 214, 72 N. W. 518, 39 L. R. A. 734, 04 Am. St.Rep. 175; Mouat v. Snyder, 105 Iowa, 500, 75 N. W. 350.

    False and malicious.

If said restaurant is serving alcohol in a coffee cup, stating so would not be false, and neither would it be malicious.

You seem to be off in the weeds on this point.  Stadtler hopes that he helped you.

  8. This nugget of sage wisdom attracted Stadtler's attention:

    Quote

“Alcoholic beverages are a factor that worsens the Covid-19 situation,” he said. “Drinkers will have lowered immunity against the virus while drinking itself promotes public gathering, which increases the risk of the virus spreading, as we can see from a cluster of cases generated from bars and pubs in Bangkok.”

Stadtler didn't read any reference to science or a scientific article.  He wonders where the source of this statement is derived.

The clip above is from the article in The Nation putting an end to the rumor put forth by this thread, which also states:

    Quote

“The law only aims to prevent the advertising of alcoholic beverages on media platforms,” he added. “If the poster has no commercial intention, he/she cannot be fined.”

I really hope you didn't do that. It shows bad on all of us (males, foreigners, etc.)  No problem to tell them that their rules were ridiculous, but going beyond that was just poor manners.

Stadtler thinks this is nonsense.  Thais should learn how westerners expect service if they wish to have us pay for their services.

  10. Stadtler's local KFC makes original and extra crispy.  Original has flavour but extra crispy and spicy is not spicy.  It has no seasoning at all.  Stadtler sent back an entire bucket and made them replace it with original.

Now Stadtler only order original and tells the he wants only chicken breasts on the bone, not the anemic breast hockey pucks they like to serve.

Stadtler is always amazed when two buckets arrive when one will normally do, and they arrive full of breasts.  Stadtler prefers white meat.

I use UnRaid another FreeBSD based system, but it's not free.

When I got it years back it was free for a small number of devices and I bought a Pro licence which I still have. It's developed into much more than just a NAS now but for US$60 for the base version I can't really recommend it now, shame because it's really good ????

Stadtler wonders why Crossy won't pay for a "really good" program?  Don't be a cheap charlie, support the developers if it is so good.  Stadtler is going to look at it now.
