Good one.
It brought out all those halfwits that live in constant paranoid fear in Thailand.
Classic
it is very good, but it works because it is so very possible.

How about the topic that we're discussing, is that close enough to the mark?
No, not really
QuoteIs it just me or does it seem like the quality of the tourists coming to Thailand continues to drop rather precipitously? I noticed this trend starting even long before covid, but it seems to be very stark these days.
Ill ask again what does ladyboys stabbing each other have to do with tourist quality?

Whilst appreciating the attempt at alliteration, the word rabid is hardly appropriate.
Perhaps its time you review your understanding of the term.

In a series of raids, luxury houses and shophouses were unmasked as dens of villainy, teeming with unsuspecting pawns in the grand scheme of exploitation. Fuelled by grievances dating back to November, the call-centre charlatans had swindled millions through cryptocurrency schemes and illicit online ventures.
The multilingual operatives conversed fluently in Chinese, Russian, and Thai, camouflaging their deceit. Further, a trail of passports bearing frequent journeys to neighbouring Cambodia hinted at a web of international intrigue,

Got the daily serviced, Popped over to Amorn Audio to grab some stereo gear for the new weekend toy.
Home and Turned on the AC and now enjoying a bundy rum and coke whilst waiting for the <deleted> toy to come visit.
So it all boils down to day drinking and paid sex.

To the contrary, it doesn't get much more American.

Jeez, another fanboy picking up on a word or two and missing the meaning, deliberately.
Maybe he didn't use ctrl c + ctrl v on a computer, but his column was a mish mash of copied bits of readers submissions, "jokes", and other circulars.
He might have received them by morse code or smoke signal for all I care, then he bashed away at his typewriter and copied them. There, make sense now?
Willing to debate his merits as a columnist or journalist, willing to debate his contributions to society (er, none, other than the dangerous spreading of incorrect and totally irresponsible HIV information), but stop picking on individual words when my meaning is clear.
Hopefully you've got it now. The previous poster decided he could only pick on my timing of email (since corroborated by another poster that it was widespread in Thailand in the mid 90s as I suggested) and not deny that he just copied stuff - his thing was just "email didn't exist". Now you are doing the same about the technicalities of copying and pasting at the time. Tiresome.
You loved him, we get it. You were a monger, nothing wrong with that at all. But I stick by my guns that he was talentless, arrogant and irresponsible and it is amazing he lasted as long as he did.
I always wonder what the girls thought when they say him coming in to the bar again.........oh God, who's turn is it this time?blah fookin blah

Yes, the Haadrin Queen will take bikes - for a price.
The others will not.
I brought two bikes over on the HQ 10 years ago watching them carry my VFR 400r across a tiny gangplank was terrifying. They told me up front they took no responsibility if they dropped it.
Anything identifiable as a rental bike would likely rate a call to the owner from the haadrin queen- 1

the Malaysia Hotel (not the Asia Hotel) on Soi Ngam Duplhi. Although, not in the Sukhumvit area, I think it had a lot of girls hanging out in and around the lobby and the coffee shop of the hotel, kind of like the Nana Hotel had back in the day. So it was a bit of a scene at that time and yet the hotel is still there today.
you sure it was girls? The Malaysia hotel was gay ground zero in its heyday.

I have the exact same symptoms. Started out with a sore throat and aching joints. Then a day later coughing started and throat got worse.
Gradually my throat got better but coughing has become really bad.
Hospital tested for flu, covid etc etc and xray for pneumonia. Diagnosed with bronchitis and given a ton of medication.
Phenylephrine 1 tab 2 x per day
Japrolox 1 tab 3 x per day
Prednisolone 2 tabs 2 x per day
Darflox antibiotic 2 tabs 2 x per day
Reducof Lozenge tab 3 x per day
Ropect 1 tab 3 x per day
Nac Long effervescent 1 tab 2 x per day
Tussis Mixture 5ml 3 x per day
that is ridiculous. it is like visiting a doctor in Thailand 20 years ago.

The club scene in Suk Soi 11 had emerged.
i have rented the same house on 11 for nearly 20 years. The changes make the mind reel. The 2000's were a hell of an era.

Interesting point and makes more sense why Trink's column was eventually shuttered in 2003. Towards the late nineties, that whole segment of the Bangkok nightlife scene, which had existed since the seventies, had perished. A different style of Bangkok nightlife emerged, away from all the go-go bars, the small expat/British style pubs, and the vibrant Patpong late night disco and bar scene was gone too. So the things that Trink covered, and Stickman did for that matter, were basically more of just a memory by the time the year 2000 rolled in. End of an era really.
When I arrived in 1996 Trink was a curiosity among younger expats. By 2000 the internet was readily available hence the rise of Stickman, the "bar" scene had given way to clubbing and a druggy freelance after hours scene.
