  1. I was in Jomtien for the entire month of September, and every day weather.com showed rain, rain, rain every day, sometimes all day. There were three very brief showers the entire 30 days. So, for Pattaya residents, that "sudden storm" is actually newsworthy. For the rest of the world, or even the rest of Thailand, not so much.
  2. What kind of camera did he use that resulted in those black specks running from top to bottom?
  3. How would that work? The provincial administration doesn't schedule flights to/from Hua Hin, airlines do. Would the government offer subsidies for certain routes that the survey indicates are wanted?
  4. Is he the fall guy, or is he negotiating for amnesty in exchange for damning testimony against his boss? I could see it happening either way.
  5. Perhaps nobody has ever before ordered Grab from a Pattaya/Jomtien condo, but I'll try again:
  6. I'm not sure what their criteria are for "random people". A uniformed Grab driver with an order displaying my name & room number should be permitted to sign-in and enter, no? They permit PEA, True, 3BB uniformed workers into the building. They also have permitted hotmeals2u.com and Pizza Company delivery people up to my room for deliveries.
  7. What problems am I asking for by expecting them to deliver to my door?
  8. I used Grab food delivery tonight for the first time. The driver refused to enter my condo building, much less come up to my floor and ring my door bell. Is that normal? I've used hotmeals2u.com several times this month, and also had a pizza from Pizza Company delivered, and they all came up to my floor and rang my door bell, hence my question.
  9. Last week I went to the Thipmanee (TMN) cable office to sign up for fibre optic internet service at around 1130am. The "technicians" were at my condo by 200pm the same day. By 230pm I had working TMN internet service. [edited to add:] After I posted, I realized I was in the Bangkok sub-forum. My TMN experience was in the Pattaya area.
  10. The linked article says he is 34 and has been the village headman for nine years, so he became the village headman at 25. Seems young, no? How are these village heads chosen? Is it by direct election of the citizens, or appointment by someone? If the latter, who is that someone?
  11. (Quoted from article linked in OP.) That will be a nice improvement. Glad to see the word "eliminate" instead of "reduce."
  12. What airline flies from Bangkok (BKK or DMK) to UTP?
  13. Was able to get everything done at the Chaiyapruek location this morning, but the (very nice) lady there spoke no English so we had to transact everything via a third English-speaking person on speakerphone. I'm not complaining, but wondering if any of the other locations have English-speaking staff in case I need to go in for any reason in the future.
  14. Dear heavens, I must have had a senior moment. I only saw the first two locations on that page. You mean I didn't think to scroll down? Doh. Thanks. That's probably the closest one to me. Thanks,. That will be my Plan A, if for any reason things don't work out on Soi Chaiyapruek. (You never know... ????)
  15. Where are the current customer-facing locations for TMN Cable? I get different results on Google Maps, Google Earth and the TMN web site. It looks like there are locations in Kasetsin & on Chaiyapruek (near Baan Suan Lalana) but neither of them appear on the TMN web site. Since I'll be using Grab or moto-sai (depending on how nearby it is) I want to be sure there's actually a TMN site where it appears one should be. Before I left Thailand in 2020, I used to go to a location at the intersection of Pattaya Klang & Sukhumvit, but it looks like there's no longer a TMN place there? [edited to add:] In the Grab app, I just searched for TMN, and it shows that location at Pattaya Klang & Sukhumvit, so is there still a shop there?
  16. Grumpy? Who, me? Why, you young whippersnapper... ????
  17. Well, it took longer than I expected for the holier-than-thou never-use-a-dryer crowd to arrive, but they're here now. Drying in the sun takes an hour. Let me guess: you all live in houses? And, you didn't consider that I might live in a condo and do laundry?
  18. In a Jomtien condo. Thanks. I don't think that's the issue. When the dryer runs a light comes on indicating the dry cycle when the door is closed and the start button is pushed. That light still comes on now when I press the start button, but the drum doesn't move. Unfortunately I'm slightly mobility impaired these days. Ten years ago I would have been ripping the machine apart. These days I pay for guys/gals to do that stuff. Thanks. If I don't get a solid recommendation for a repair person, that's probably the way I'll go. Thanks for the feedback everybody. Well most of you. ????
  19. My clothes dryer sat idle for the 3.5 years while I was gone. Yesterday I used it for two small-ish loads of laundry, and for a third load it wouldn't run. Any recommendations for a repair person to give an estimate on how much that would cost to fix? I won't spend a lot of money on it, but if it can be fixed economically I might fix it.
  20. I waited at the old (pre-2020) spot on Thepprasit near the Thappraya intersection didn't see any baht buses. Do they only run Mon-Fri, or have that actually not yet resumed on the Thepprasit route?
  21. Oh. I guess I'll head to City Hall first and see if I can do it all in one visit there. Are there English language markings leading folks to the property tax office? My Thai was never all that good, but having been gone for 3.5 years now, I can't remember much.
  22. Yeah, I "get it." I have used a set of "Bag Podz" (google it if you're bored) for several years and they're strong, compact and easy to carry. I'll bring them with me.
  23. Thanks for the info. I have some sturdy "Bag Podz" I use and will bring them. They're compact and easy to carry. I don't recall ever registering in the online system. I guess I should just go to Immigrations and do an in-person report. Is it easy to enroll in the online system? Good news. Last I had read (which was a while ago) the Thepprasit route hadn't returned. I vaguely remember some tax-related office there. Thanks!
