Tokyo subways sell (or at least used to) "platform tickets" for people who were never intending to get on a train. The platform ticket let them enter & exit the same station. Maybe you want to accompany someone elderly down to the platform and ensure they get on the right train. Or, whatever. I wonder if the one baht was for a "platform ticket" and the 15 baht ticket you already had was simply considered non-refundable and disposable? [edited to add:] I missed @bbko's post above – did you exceed your five minutes so the ticket was non-refundable?

Must Read Details of Revised Test & Go Program Announced
wpcoe replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
So there is no more "whitelist" of countries that are eligible for Test & Go? In the previous T&G iteration, Mexico was not on the list of eligible countries for T&G. Starting Feb. 1, as a Mexico resident I won't need to sandbox? Soooo, if there is no more restrictions on which countries can T&G, who, exactly are the new sandboxes for? -
Have you tried SCB (Siam Commercial Bank)? It's been a few years, but I was able to open accounts in both Pattaya and Hua Hin on just a 30-day visa waiver stamp.

Is there a way to view and, more importantly, to pay the tax online for those of us overseas?
-
Granted, this is just discussion of a proposal, but I wonder if it would be a reinstatement of the previous Test & Go program. i.e. Only for a white list of specified countries, with an expanded choice of one-week sandboxes in places like Pattaya for those from non-white-listed countries. Or, are they talking about Test & Go 2.0 with different provisions?

Would be interesting to see the condition of the car interiors.

How to sign up for the login.gov (USA) web site as an expat?
wpcoe replied to wpcoe's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
I can log on to ssa.gov without using login.gov. However, after 31-Dec-2021 I won't be able to log on to pbgc.gov without login.gov. (Until then I can get a "read only" version of pbgc.gov) My problem is that PBGC (Pension Guaranty Benefit Corporation) – who inherited my pension during my employer's bankruptcy – has not been able to figure out how to mail the 1099-R tax form that I need to file my taxes with the IRS. I have *never* received one in the mail and rely on downloading it from the pbgc.gov web site. As it stands now, I won't be able to file my taxes next year. I talked to a pbgc.gov rep on the phone last week Monday and she acknowledged the problem I was facing. She said it was a new system and they were "still ironing out the kinks" in it. She said she would forward my issue to tech support and I would hear from them either that day or the next. She said they would call me, but I said an e-mail would be fine, too, if they were unable to make international phone calls. It has been twelve days since I talked to her. No contact from tech support. (Quelle surprise, non?) -

Did you really mean to post that in the "Jokes - puzzles and riddles " section?

How to sign up for the login.gov (USA) web site as an expat?
wpcoe replied to wpcoe's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
It's the opposite for me: I signed up for mySSA.org (I assume mySSA.com was a typo?) years ago and it still works with a direct log-on, although it does now offer logiin.gov log on. (Can you enter the mySSA.org site using login.gov?) -
Can you still extend visa Excempt ?
wpcoe replied to Chris KL's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Be aware that the airline checking you in for your flights to Thailand will want/need to see a confirmed ticket departing Thailand within 30 days of your arrival. They won't care if you are "planning to" extend to 60 days, so book your air ticket accordingly.
