Funnily enough, in that very report that you linked to it confirms what I said originally, he was convicted of corruption...
"Thailand's former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra was today sentenced to two years' imprisonment in absentia over a corrupt land deal.
In a ruling that made him the first Thai politician to be convicted of corruption committed while prime minister".
Thanks.
Yes well the Press call it corruption and I guess that's open to interpretation and sounds better for the Press but the fact is he was found guilty and convicted for "Conflict Of Interest" he was not found guilty of Corruption! there were never any charges of Corruption! it was either "Conflict Of Interest" or "Abuse Of Power"

No, not "conflict of interest", he was found guilty of abuse of power, i.e. corruption.
Well no funny enough he was cleared of "Abuse Of Power" but found guilty of "Conflict Of Interest"
QuoteThe split decision by Thailand's supreme court on a five-to-four majority verdict cleared Thaksin, 59, of more serious charges of abuse of power to obtain the land at a bargain price.
"Thaksin violated the article of the constitution on conflict of interest, as he was then prime minister and head of a government and was supposed to work for the benefit of the public," said one of the nine-judge panel reading the verdict.

Lets not forget the military was also involved and as we know they are untouchable so it's not really fair to try and pin this solely on Thaksin he did in fact open an investigation.
https://www.hrw.org/news/2014/10/25/thailand-no-justice-10-years-after-tak-bai-killings
QuoteOn December 17, 2004, a fact-finding committee appointed by the then-government of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra concluded that the methods used in dispersing the protesters— including firing live ammunition and deploying army conscripts and rangers inexperienced in dispersing protesters—were inappropriate and not in conformity with established international guidelines and practices. The committee also found that commanding officers failed to supervise the transportation of protesters in custody, leaving the task to be performed by inexperienced, low-ranking personnel. The inquiry identified three senior army officers as having failed to properly monitor and supervise the military’s operations, leading to the deaths and injuries of protesters.

Latest news is now they plan to block exports to neighboring countries who ordered.
I expected that from the start but it won't make em popular but doubt they care.- 1

Many Thais believe it's a cure for Covid not just a relief it's selling like hot cakes
prices have tripled people are relying on it rather than vaccines.
Apparently after they gave it to inmates in prisons which they claim proved it cures COVID?
Do they try to reverse that now?- 1

Thailand doesn't need large gatherings at this time.
So exactly how long should they wait to protest?? until the Pandemic is finished?
They are damned if they do and damned if they don't protest.
Had the government shown to be sincere in procurement of vaccines then I could imagine they wouldn't be protesting but they haven't just the opposite. Until today still NOOO Moderna vaccines ordered. AZ vaccine now delayed until May next year probably later considering the leaked letter from AZ that they only agreed to supply Thailand with 3M doses per month. It all seems planned to drag on as long as possible.- 12

They already have the "Fake News Law"
This new Law goes one step further and deems any information which COULD "create fear amongst the public" as illegal.
Even if it's true????
Also the government won't pass the new law Prayut will by Emergency Decree!!- 3

Fully agree once the country is fully vaccinated but it hasn't far from it!
They don't care they've all been fully vaccinated and actually need Covid19 to keep "State Of Emergency" in place
to prevent any unwanted street protests at least to the next election.

Didn't they vaccinate like 70% of the Island with Sinovac Placebo
And didn't Chulalongkorn University claim Sinovac was highly effective??
Hopefully they haven't destroyed their reputations.
Don't worry recommending a 4rd booster shot with something that works they will be able to save face.- 1

QuoteSecurity agencies launched the ‘sealing’ operation at construction camps in Bangkok today, essentially preventing any unauthorized persons entering or leaving these workers’ camps, where several new cases of COVID-19 have recently been reported.
Surely this is some kind of violation of human rights they are not prisoners??
Hopefully they don't lock the ones with COVID up inside with them? Not to say those worker camps are perfect breading grounds for the Virus.
This is the kind of stuff that happens when you put soldiers in charge of a country I'm afraid.

Quotehe would do his best to procure COVID-19 vaccines to meet people’s demand
He should have ordered vaccines at the beginning of the year but no they do it in June
Seems to me they want to drag this out as long as possible perhaps to keep SOE in place.

Fake News: Case filed with tech police charging health minister Anutin over alleged false vax statements
in Thailand News
Posted · Edited by DirtyHarry55
Excellent finally the people start to fight back they should file charges over every peace of fake news they've released since they took office then they'd be in Court till they die. Also they should go after Anutins yellow shirt Virus doctor chum for fake news about Sinovac. No good of course under the "State Of Emergency" they have immunity from any and all wrong doings. How very convenient.
