  1. Not so much roam as waddle from one side of the trough to the other.
  2. "Only Prayut, Prawit and Paetongtarn can realistically gun for PM post". And one of them will be banned shortly before the election. Incidentally, was "gun" a Freudian slip?
  3. Excused PT for a couple of weeks I should imagine!
  4. I have it on good authority that Kim Jong Un is not that enthusiastic about shrimp buffets. A large plate of chocolate eclairs washed down with a fine cognac may influence him on the other hand.
  5. Nothing that couldn't be sorted out by the right amulets. By a stroke of luck the "go to man' for such items in the Royal Thai Navy happens to have a lot of time on his hands at the moment, as the ship he was captain of is the one at the bottom of the Gulf of Thailand!
  6. The Dutch are certainly the leaders in this field, however 3.5 million dollars is not going to even come close to the cost of raising this ship, 20 miles offshore and sunk in 50 metres of water; let alone pay for the repairs it will need to put it back into service. Hells bells, I doubt it would even pay the cost of assembling and shipping in the kit you would need! However, as a "budget" it may well have certain attractions.
  7. My dear chap, "careful","thought out"? We're talking ????????????????????here!
  8. Indeed, but perhaps, judging by the time it has taken to put in place (unusually for tapping a source of cash), to have attracted the interest of a large number of "sheds" in collecting that "shedload" of money. It will probably have to go a long way and in a lot of directions.
  9. So, which Cities are they?
  10. The links between the governing class, and the "Chinese Thai" business community are strong, and lucrative.

  12. I was presuming that @Credowas, umh, extracting the urine?
  13. Of course, if Covid infections were to rise again, then a state of emergency may have to be declared. It would only be prudent, a mere precaution of course. That would be jolly handy in the months to come, would make a number of things, and outcomes, easier to manage
  14. Ah, Alderney! 2000 alcoholics clinging to a rock in the middle of the English Channel! Was she a local? Is so you must have doubled the gene pool!
  15. It is a daft comparison, and a daft basis for your argument! Your bottle of Evian in Paris was produced just down the road. Your bottle of Evian here was produced in France, loaded into a container, trucked to a port, loaded onto a ship, sailed around the world, then trucked iñto the Thai distribution system. Leave aside any import duties! That is why it is expensive. If you want products from the other side of the world, expect them to be expensive.
  16. Why? It will cost a very large amount of money, to raise a 36 year old ship. In order to determine exactly why she sank? Somehow I doubt that they are that concerned. To refit and put back into service? That would probably, taking into account the salvage costs, cost more than acquiring a newer second hand vessel.
  17. I am no expert ( and I do realise that is not the most auspicious way to start a post dealing with technical matters) but looking at that photograph the ship does seem to have a very low freeboard, particularly at the sharp end. She also seems to be carrying quite a lot of heavy equipment high up - I wonder how much was the original design and how much has been subsequently fitted in various upgrades. Also, how many did she have on board - 105 or so? Where did they put them all?
  18. You can have anything your heart desires! As long as it is cabbage soup!
  19. According to the head honcho (Supreme Patriarch I think he is called?) Of the Russian Orthodox Church it is doing God's work!
  20. It is also a damn site more expensive - particularly living the lifestyle they aspire to. Neither are particularly employable, he is a Prince, in a country which doesn't have royalty; and as the second string to his bow an ex junior army officer who left when he was required to take the examination for promotion to Major. She was a supporting role TV actress. So the only thing they have is their "Royal" titles. These on their own have little long lasting draw, so manufacturing a very public estrangement with Harry's family was the road they started down. That is not really going anywhere now. The money will run out in time - I suspect sooner rather than later. When the money goes I suspect the marriage will as well. A long, quiet, comfortable if boring retirement at Frogmore Cottage is probably what awaits - he can watch TV with his neighbour Uncle Andrew!
  21. I saw a clip from this interview in which he said " I want my father back, I want my brother back". At the risk of stating the blindingly obvious, perhaps you could start such a reconciliation by not doing interviews, producing "documentaries" and writing books in which you attack them? Hilariously, apparently the book was actually ghostwritten by a well known novelist!
  22. A truly impressive display of the skills of various ministry forecasters pedalling their bicycles backwards! I assume that they have realised that the "initial period" coincides with the absolute peak of the traditional Chinese holiday period, Chinese New Year?
  23. The most important skill is the ability to fight the weapon system. Remove the weapons, and the associated sensors, optical and electronic, all you are training and practicing are "drivers B3 airframe". It is a bit like claiming your infantry are the best because they have the latest "Gucci" digital pattern combat suits, really high tech boots, and ignoring the fact that they don't have any rifles!
  24. I wonder whether any maintenance contract will cover the costs, "labour and parts", for putting them back together again after various "interested observers" have had a really good look at them? I also wonder what the going rate " per hour" will be for having a really good look at them? As you say: " nothing is free nowadays"!
