This would be a disaster. As much as I would like to have a land/house in my name, I can see beyond that benefit and realize it would entail millions of Chinese flooding the country to hide their money from the CCP. Thailand would not be the same after that, it would change incredibly quickly, even more than it has already.

They clearly haven't been to Koh Samui in a couple years... it is a shadow of its former self at the moment. -

Recovered/Discharged (Globally): (98%). These people at the party are stupid for ignoring the current rules no doubt, but come on, possibly overly dramatic?

I would hope that you would respect and honor the fact that she has already proclaimed her love for another. As the fantasy in your mind is blissfully intoxicating, keep in mind that it is a one-sided affair, and that she has not demonstrated any hidden desire to love you back. It is common knowledge that Gik's exist in Thai culture to fuel the passion and carnal desires between two consenting adults, but love from afar I'm afraid is not anymore accepted in Thai culture, just as it is not acceptable in the West.

Most expats looking to Thailand for a better retirement are operating off of far less than 2 to 5 MILLION dollars. If you converted that figure to THB you might be more on track with the reality of the situation. If you have money, everything that Thailand offers can be found better elsewhere.

Of course, the further you go out from convenience the cheaper it gets, this is true anywhere in the world. Location, location, location. If you want to be in the center of it all and a quick BTS/MRT ride away, Asoke can't be beat. Check the older condos in the area that have been renovated for bigger rooms at a lower price. Any relatively new condo in Thailand (such as Ashton) is usually less than 30 sqm and not ideal for long-stay. Just don't do it. 50 sqm+ 1 BR minimum. -

Asoke, proximity to BTS/MRT and nearly anything needed.
