  1. OK the judgegiles – let me try and be helpful in this stressful time. Your point 1 – you do not need a pre-flight test if flying to the UK. I am flying with KLM via Schiphol, Amsterdam and only need a Health Declaration for transit there. BEWARE – depending on your flight and any transfers you may need one. My friend is leaving for the UK today via Singapore and had to have a full RT-PCR test yesterday to be allowed to transfer. Check with your airline but the UK do not require it. Your point 2 – my strong advice is to get the International Covid Passports [yellow book]. It is 50 baht. I suggest you look at my earlier thread on Covid Passports. It seems the length of time needed to get one varies tremendously. Your point 3 – I cannot comment. You need someone like UbonJoe. I have a yearly extension and have got a re-entry permit. Your point 4 – I have taken out 90 day insurance with AXA here in Thailand. They were recommended to me by a close friend who is an ex-insurance agent. The reason for 90 days is that is from landing back to the date my extension expires. May I add my condolences for your sad loss and wish you all the best.
  2. Just thought I would let everyone know how easily getting an International Vaccination Passport can be. Step 1 - find your local Public Health Office. Mine was reasonably local [a 20 minute drive]. Step 2 - went to the office. No appointment or anything required. Just walked in and told receptionist what I wanted. Within a couple of minutes a young lady came to see me and asked for my passport and hospital vaccination certificate. No other details - not asking for flight ticket or anything else. She took the documents to photocopy [no charge]. No other person there. Then the young lady apologised that the Senior Medical Officer who has to sign the passport entries was out for the day and could I come back tomorrow to pick it up. Total time - 10 minutes. No problem! Step 3 [next day] - went to office in the afternoon and received the passport in less than 5 minutes. There was one other person there [a Thai lady] getting hers. It took longer to pay the 50 baht fee than get the passport! BE AWARE - local Public Health Offices are NOT permitted to accept cash. My wife had to actually do a bank transfer for 50 Baht! Then came a photograph of me and the wife with me holding the passport in front of me. Felt like I was the first to ask. A friend who got his in Bangkok went through a right rigmarole having to drive, queue [he was told there were no free appointments until January!],produce flight ticket and was asked a multitude of questions. Hope this helps somebody.
  3. Thanks Sheryl. No problem with nothing local of interest. I will be returning from a 3 week trip to England and having lived here nearly 15 years I don't want 'touristy' things [and the wife would probably kill me if I did!].
  4. Sheryl - trying to book the A One now. Have you heard good reports about them?
  5. Thank you tweezer and internationalism. Checked them both but fully booked for 20 December.
  6. Trying to book hotel/tests for 20 December but keep getting a few problems. Anyone have a recommendation? Thanks
  7. Thanks UbonJoe. Advice appreciated and taken. There is just enough room [1 page] for departure and arrival stamps so I will go down that route and do it when I come back in December.
  8. I am going to the UK next week [Friday] and intend applying for my Thai Pass before I go. I have all the documents in place [I think!] - re-entry permit [Non-O extension based on marriage], International Vaccine Passport, air ticket and will by the end of today have the SHA+ hotel reservation and AXA insurance for return. The required before travel PCR test I will arrange in England. My question is: if I register for the Thai Pass now [and get it] using my existing passport which has all the visa and re-entry stamps in it but get a new passport while I am in England [this one is full] will I face any problems?
  9. Eric - I am asking because getting the yellow vaccine passport is extremely difficult. As far as I am aware there is only 1 centre in Bangkok to get one. That is very difficult to attend in person and appointments are booked up through mid-January so it is turn up and wait. My friend did it last week and it took 6 hours!
  10. Thank you UbonJoe. The QR code box at the top is just a black square. At the bottom it does say QR CODE then some Thai then MOPH Immunization Center in English.
  11. I have read several threads about members travelling to the UK, but I have one specific query which I hope someone can help me with. I have a Covid-19 certificate from the hospital in Chai Nat where I had my vaccinations [ 2 x Pfizer]. The certificate [copy below] is headed Thailand National Certificate of Coved-19 Vaccination. Is this sufficient for entry to UK or do I need to really get the 'yellow book' version? Any advice appreciated especially from anyone who has entered the UK using such a certificate. Thank you very much.
  12. Thank you guys. UbonJoe - is what I ask for at the Bank "Credit Advice"? There is no urgency to this but I want to start asking for the monthly slips and just needed to know exactly what they were called.
  13. Sorry to be a pain but could someone please give me a quick reminder of the document to ask for at the bank [Bangkok Bank] every month as a sort of receipts for monthly transfer [I use Wise]. Intend to move from 400k deposit to income method for funds. Thank you.
  14. Does "in UK bank" mean just that? What I am trying to ask is do ESavings in bank [NationWide] count or must the money be in a current account?
  15. I just read that Razzell and was going to ask UbonJoe about it.
  16. Dear All, I know many of these points have been raised and discussed before but not being very computer literate to find them I hope you will forgive me. Following the changes in UK entry and quarantine and the proposed changes to Thai quarantine, I am now planning to go to the UK for Christmas and to see family. I am trying to check that I am preparing everything to get back to Thailand easily. My circumstances: 1. UK citizen 71 years old 2. Married [legally in Thailand with all documents] to Thai and have been for many years 3. On a Non-O extension based on marriage expiring March 2022 with 400k in bank 4. Two dose vaccinated for Covid in Thailand [Pfizer vaccine] and have certificate My questions are: 1. My Thai vaccination certificate will be valid for return to Thailand 2. My Non-O extension [I will get a Re-Entry permit before I go] will be accepted for a CoE 3. If I return on, for example, the 12th January what insurances will I need and where can I get them and for what period? 4. I will renew my passport while in UK - will both new and old be accepted by Immigration? 5. I will be in the UK for approximately 3 weeks. Is this enough to get CoE etc? Thank you for any advice and comments.
  17. Thank you all for your kind replies and advice. Sorry I could not thank you sooner but I have now been well for a day or so.
  18. My friend has urgent need to return to UK. I have given him the best info I can find but still have one question. He lives in Suphan Buri province and the question is - he has to take a Covid test 72 hrs before flight. He is under the impression the results certificate would be required at Suvarnabhumi in Thai [by Immigration and Thai Airways] and at Heathrow in English. Is this correct? Thank you.
