i haven't purchased this insurance yet.  i'm currently stuck in china with the thai gf, preparing for the day we'll be let back in.

Thanks. After some reworking I did notice there is an option!

I was checking out this insurance and I noticed this flaw, at least in my situation. I am a US citizen in a neighbouring Asian country, but I guess, that is an issue for this insurance company.

    ELIGIBILITY

Safe Travels International Cost Saver is for Non US Citizens and Non US Residents while traveling outside their Home Country, but not visiting the United States. It can provide coverage for you, your spouse/domestic partner/traveling companion and dependent children/grandchildren. This plan does not cover USA.

  3. Hello,

Apologies if this has been discussed many times as I even feel like I have seen it but I cannot seem to find any relevant post in here at this time.

Can anyone share an actual Insurance company that will 100% provide a valid policy for covid up until 100,000 USD as the Thai govt is requesting??

    Thanks in advance.

At the moment around £1000 has been the cheapest - that may not seem so expensive but the (deductable) is quite high and its also an expense I had not planned for. At the moment it seems the only insurance available is long term health insurance that includes Covid insurance. Many of the companies only offer such insurance to those living in Thailand for at least 183 days per year.

Travel insurance that includes cover for Covid 19 may be cheaper but its normally only available in the applicant's home country.  At the moment, unsurprisingly such cover does not seem to be available. Most UK insurers specifically exclude Covid and policies have a clause that states that cover is subject to the UK government's travel advice.  For almost all countries that advice is currently against all but essential travel so the clause kicks in.

I continue to look for insurance but not so intensely because the quarantine requirement is a killer for me - the insurance issue just makes it moreso.

Same feeling and situation for me. I have a Thai spouse in a safe neighbouring Asian country but am really not ready to pay excessive amounts of money and jump through insane hoops yet, but I do give myself until end of August, if nothing seems to be changing in my direction, I may have to surrender and bite the bullet. Ughhh.

  5. Do any of you see this quarantining situation remaining once things ease up...say in the next couple months?

I'm in a neighbouring Asian country who has had great success with this whole covid mess, definitely never had it either, but not really into paying 1k + for 2 weeks. No need for the cheap comments, just sharing my thoughts.

    In this video clip, Khun

    @NatapanuN

from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, says that work permit holders and foreigners married to Thais should contact their local Thai embassy if they want to come back now. Other people with urgent or humanitarian reasons will also be considered.

    Someone mentioned that:

'Mentions you need flight details and quarantine booking before applying. That’s a big risk for them to say no as there non refundable.'

    That is definitely a concern.

This was in the instructions and when I filled out the request to return because I have a work permit. (still waiting to hear back from them after I mailed in everything)

    • Non-Thai nationals will be subjected to a 14-day state quarantine at a government-designated Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ) facility at their own expenses (including the arrangement to pick up the applicant at the point of entry into Thailand), and obliged to comply with the government's disease prevention measures pursuant to clause 11 of the Regulation issued under Section 9 of the said Emergency Decree.

    * Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ) is the process of Quarantine at government-approved hotels at the traveler’s own expense. More information (in Thai) can be found here http://covid-center.hss.moph.go.th/files/A%20State%20Quarantine%2017.4.63.pdf and http://www.hsscovid.com/

These links do not work for me. Anyone have the site where I can get info on cost of ASQ and locations?

  8. Hello,

I am a US citizen who has been in Vietnam for over a year (I have a 5 year visa exemption) as I am a overseas Viet and also married to a Thai national. I travelled to Malaysia and Singapore before the virus outbreak but have not been in the US since last April as y passport clearly states.  I have two questions pertaining to applying for my marriage visa to a Thai national once borders open, possibly for Vietnam in particular.

    1) Is a scanned copy via email that my wife sent me of the needed signed documents by her for my first marriage visa sufficient or does she need to send me the real copies with wet signature?

    2) Any idea if my holding a US passport will be an issue?

I will head into the Thai embassy in HCMC to ask about this but figured I'd ask here since some of you seem knowledgeable.

    Thanks in advance.
