Charts looking ugly and reflects an even uglier reality that the virus has overwhelmed Thailand having been left to spread by poor control measures. Lets all hope the new semi lockdowns that are now coming into effect do something to flatten the curve. They should certainly help to do that but my fear is that Thailand is now stuck in a dark tunnel and has a long way to go yet.

Keep safe everyone and RIP to the increasing number of those dying each day from covid.

Covid deaths are now more than double those of road accidents each day.

Rolling 7 day average (up to 8th July only) which includes prison cases and bar chart of community cases.

More like overwhelmed Bangkok and surrounding provinces.

You’re right. They did the same mistake as all other countries did before them. Didn’t have the balls to make a tough call and lockdown when things started to get worse, hoping instead that things would not get worse. Now you’re in the unpleasant situation other countries have been before, you know you have to lockdown but you also know that a short lockdown won’t be enough.

The only country to have had a real lockdown was China. People were not allowed out of thier condo unit yet alone complex.

Just put a ring around Bangkok, dont let anybody out!.....oops .....too late!

It's another cockup, they only need to lockdown the most affected areas such as Bangkok which is the real problem, but it seems that if the capital is affected then everywhere else in Thailand must accept the force

I know it's bad for some, and people in many countries are suffering. The vaccines are the cause of this problem which we should of had a while ago. And I am not letting WHO and ccp China off the hook either but we have to start vaccinating more people with vaccines that work and restrict tourism for awhile. Anything else is foolish.

Tourism already restricted for over a year, restricting it for longer will be the end for many in Thailand. How do you know which vaccines work and which don't?

No, you have to have it in a bank account in your own country before you apply for the visa. It has to be there for either one or three months, I can't remember which. After that you can take the money out and do what you want with it.  You don't need any money in Thailand at any point.

So there is the answer OA don't need to have money in Thai account, if they are sick in Thailand insurance covers them.

Good Question...and why do they continue to punish OA Visa holders and leave O Visa holders unscathed ? Extensions now are absurd...because my OA obtained in 2017 needs insurance(s) and the guy in the booth next to me does not , all other requirements being equal ?

Do OA visa holders have to have 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account?

We are living in a world where nobody cares anymore. Why would you want to open the flood gates to tourist, many from China with their cheap vaccines? Spreading the virus to many who have not received a good vaccine. This is just crazy.

Maybe because people are becoming jobless, companies closing down, it's creating poverty in Thailand. More like this is just crazy

I wonder if this will be carried forwards to International Schools, which theoretically fall under the umbrella of the Ministry of Education.

Last year 50,000 Baht was discounted from the following school year’s T1 fees (18%) - This year, so far, no such discount has been offered.

I can’t see any schools offering a full refund of the term - thats just too costly or the school.

So, I see schools offering anywhere from 10-20% just to comply with the order.

In Chiang Mai one Cambridge School gave a return of 5% last year and offering 7% on this year's on line learning. However they still increased fees last year and this year's planned increase which is very substantial is currently under investigation by the Ministry of Education. To add to this they have also dropped Cambridge at Primary level.

You were very lucky with your refund

88 deaths in two days. Thailand now number 84 on the covid charts up 35 spots in around a month and a half. Victoria, Australia about to go into a 7 day maybe more lockdown with an outbreak of 26 positives and numerous infection sites. Bangkok and surrounds, community transmission 2-2.5k every day. Around 200x the infections of Victoria in one day (yesterday Victoria found 11 new cases which makes up the 26 day before was 15) with around 3-4x the population. No lockdown.

Locking down a city for 26 cases is ridiculous
