I’ll say this, rightness or wrongness of the tax aside, so long as it’s rolled into and collected at the time of ticketing (speaking for air tickets of course) then i think the pushback will be minimal and short-lived..: since EVERY fare will automatically adjust upwards by the same amount, no one will be out-of-step as far as pricing goes … and considering that fares can fluctuate by hundreds of dollars, a net change of about US$15 will probably be hard to notice.

If its done in the price of ticketing then Thais would also be charged, foreign airlines are not going to carryout this extra work and be expected to determine between foreign and Thai customers

Assuming Thailand reopens countrywide and gets some sort of high season, come February the case load will rise to 50,000 per day imo, and deaths will be 200 plus even with 80% vaccination. UK might wear that but not Thailand. And what sort of normality will it be anyway?

You can only get 50,000 per day if they continue to use the useless PCR testing which was not designed for covid. The continued use of these will of course give the figures you mentioned and keep big Pharma happy.

    Don't they?

China offered persuasion and cash to people to get vaccinated.

In Shanghai, some neighbourhoods rewarded each newly vaccinated person with 300 yuan (£33); others gave out milk, eggs and washing powder. In Sichuan province, its health commission has this month released a rap song called Get Jabbed Quick.

I lived in Shanghai for 10 years, I have lots of friends and family there today, they have not and do not know anyone who got paid for the vaccine, they have not heard about such an offer. This is just another western media propaganda.

Haven't they also employed strict lockdowns and other strong measures to bring down infection? Has Sinovac eliminated Covid in China yet?

No vaccine is going to eliminate covid, but just compare the numbers between the big players US and China. China is in a much better position and they don't offer gifts and vouchers to thier people to get vaxed

Do you need efficacy and real world effectiveness explained ??

(google is your friend - I’m too lazy to respond to ill thought out posturing questions).

Ah so the mighty Google will have all the propaganda anses needed to explain it, I see.

I'm glad I'm in the majority 5.4 billion not vaxed against 2.5 that have.

Agreed, I excited the Sandbox last week.

I was aware of the fact that even while ‘triple vaccinated’ (1x AZ / 2x Pfizer) there was no guarantee that I will not be exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, there was a greater probability that I would not contract Covid-19, but again, no guarantees and the downside of contracting Covid-19 is hospital isolation (even without symptoms) - so caution was the name of the game, but that didn’t stop me going to the beach and restaurants etc.

The common sense approach (when vaccinated) is of course to continue with life, but maintain intelligent caution. Its clear a greater proportion of the population needs ‘quality’ vaccination.

Once the population has been vaccinated, covid-19 numbers become less relevant and hospitalisations with serious symptoms become the true metric.

And what is a quality vaccination and why?

The plan that keeps on giving and giving, and then not giving, and is as said a hot potato.  They want the country to prosper but at the same time do not want to be seen as causing an economic disservice to the people who then get priced out.  Before anything like this occurs there needs to be a true real-estate board and appraisers who are certified.  Thailands current prices for property is for what the market will bear and what folks think personally that their properties are worth. No wonder so uch sits on the market unsold and vacant for years, and on the banks books and not as underperforming loans.

Yes, its time for regulation in the real estate sector, but I can't see that happening any time soon.

Anyone that wants to travel during a pandemic and take a vacation needs to accept that rules and regulations, just as at home, are likely to change. I live in Bangkok. The rules for me to travel to Phuket, Samui, Ko Tao, Phi Phi, any of those places or other provinces have changed regularly over the last few months.

Money outweighs rules and regulations. Regulations my back side.

They need to speed up their vaccinations if they intend to fully reopen this year.

It's not impossible for them to reach 70% + fully vaccinated this year, but it will require some effort.

Anyone know how the anti vax feelings are in to Thailand.

Lots of sceptics or do they just want their shots so the wheels can start turning again?

There are more anti vax sceptics in Thailand than ever, what do you expect when they are mixing vaccines and talking abut vaccinating children with vaccines currently for +15 and +18 year old. With 81% of the population remaining not double vaxxed they should concentrate on these adults first.

I'm currently outside Thailand - BUT,I agree with him.

Shut everything now for 2 months more and vaccinate like hell, the next month get the school back and then re-open fully and no restraints in January.

Besides, the tourists are not coming with everything closed and schools I would say are more important than bars at the moment. And they are not due to open until November earliest

Incorrect with regards to schools not opening until November, some International schools reopened last Wednesday 15th with more opening next Monday. But I do agree that international tourists won't be coming any time soon
