I'm a hotel owner in Laos. 90% of tourist arrivals into Laos come via Thailand (mainly Suvarnaphoum) as its transit hub, so this decision is a further blow to the 1,000s of hotels, guesthouses, restaurants and all their employees that have lost their jobs since March. In all honesty, I believe Laos will turn its back to TH and start looking towards Viet Nam as a transit hub. Its important to know that decisions made by TH also severely and directly affect all regional neighbours. Fingers crossed.

Is Vietnam open now then? Just wondering why they would turn their back on a country with land borders. How exactly do Laos do for Thai that they do not do for nam?

  2. I don't get it. He's only been here 7 years. He's not mentioned any actual real illness's. The covid has hurt his finances.

You should be writing this year and next year off. So that means you got 2 years to figure out something new or learn something new.

Over the many years my wife has never given me one iota of things to complain about.....We've not agreed on some aspects of raising our girls, that's a Thai versus western outlook thing.....

We're together literally every day & any moments of strife shared has never been directed at each other....

She has one of the most positive, happy, and healthiest "I can do" attitudes of about anybody in my life.....

The best complaint I can manage is I don't like mall/dept store shopping with her, because it's 10 step shopping versus my seek & go style.....Same on vacations, it seems like 10 step camera ops, because she finds something unique to admire along the way....

Basically, I married that mythological Thai woman that many here claim is impossible to exist....But they do exist, and are out there....

    She/we bring/share joy every day.....

When single, if I found someone to be difficult, for whatever reason, I didn't try to reinvent that wheel - just found a better wheel....

Are you sure you even exist though?

A lot of content on reddit points to a lot of completely fake profiles on this site. Yours being one of them. I mean it could be really easy to prove we are different people in different places without anyone giving up anonymity.

    Don't shoot the messenger.

I've noticed that when using thaivisa's search function, there are no results older than 2 months. The admin must be limiting the search function to avoid overloading an underprovisioned server. For example, search for scooter and there are only 21 results. The oldest being September 12th. You can do the same search using Google and there are 24,400 results. The command is: scooter site:thaivisa.com. You can also set the date range in Google's tools pulldown menu.

Thanks for noticing but you are not alone but you could not help yourself could you. There was a time results were vast.

  5. Nah thailand needs to forget the tax element and just look at pulling in 500k long stay nomads. Make them commit to thailand for long stay by:

Granting initial 90 day Visa on arrival for working holiday.

Insist all business be conducted from Thailand to other countries

Show proof of support - $10,000

To get an additional 12 months visa must have:

    Rental contract for accommodation.

A serious nomad is not a travelling one, they need routine like all workers, they need comfort. The serious nomads will buy into all of the above and the ones that cannot commit you do not need.

But this tax thing is a non starter.

Just get 500k nomads in as above and you just created an equivalent of 20m tourists in terms of local spending. Hotels lose out, local thais cash in.

    will never happen
