But one sees foreigners stealing from Thais, while the more recent one appears to be a foreigner complaining of a Thai stealing from him (albeit with his fists).  The two don't seem similar, unless you are trying to make out that the recent case is also one of a foreigner stealing from Thais for some reason?

Quite possible the farang is stealing from the driver, someone is lying, anyway you are going nowhere here in a hurry ruffing up a tuk tuk driver,  a courtroom will figure it out.....😉

And if he did hand over 500 or 1000 baht for the 400 baht trip?

A similar event occurred  not long ago with a 'hi-end' Russian tourist couple at a restaurant saying they paid and put the money in the bill folder and that the employee must have taken it....cctv showed otherwise.....maybe this tuk tuk brawl should go to trial by jury and get to the bottom of the cash exchange  issue........

I've left Thailand several times in the past few years. I never considered going to Immigration. My TM30 is stapled in my passport.

Now a little off topic rant............This tm30 causes so much confusion because of different interpretations, just imagine what will happen if they try taxing foreigners.

TM30 chaos, 90 day reporting chaos......tax foreigners on transferred money from abroad ?   utter chaos - not happening...

I recommend that you call the SCB (027777777) customer help line and ask them if a foreigner on a retirement visa can have an FCD account.   Tell them you aren't allowed to work so obviously no work permit.  I checked SCB's web site and they make no reference to a work permit being required.

There are so many stories on AN about bank staff giving incorrect information for whatever reason!

SCB weren't going to allow me (on retirement extension) to open any bank account without a work permit.  I told them I can't have a work permit and that I had checked SCB's website and no such restriction was mentioned.  I ended up getting two accounts with no further problem due to no work permit.

    I'll do that, thanks.......

Does anyone know if SCB or Kasikorn allows you to convert the USD that's in your Thai bank FCD account to your THB acct online, without having to go into the bank, or without having to phone them? I was with Citibank, and I could always convert online, but my accounts were transferred to UOB last week, and they said I would have to come into the bank each time, or do it by phone. UOB doesn't allow online currency conversions. Thanks.

I'm in the same situation, you will have to go to the bank now ( any UOB ) to transfer from your FCD to Thai Baht account, also I'm waiting for a new PIN from headquarters for my Citi/UOB debit card - doesn't work, annoying. Glad I'm with SCB as well.........cannot have a FCD with SCB without a work permit and it's come to the branch as well for FCD transfers to Thai baht account.

Take a look on Facebook, Phuket and you will see any number of Russian names touting properties for sale and rent, not to mention one or two who advertise a car washing service, with the ad written mostly in Russian.

Somehow they are getting away with it and it shouldn't be hard to catch them if the BIB used a little bit of nous, but then again..........

"getting away with it" if only the Authorities would turn away from bribes....maybe its started, many arrests lately...yes I'm sure locals see the working Russians and are now calling it in......the majority don't have the funds for their 90 day freebee stamp or purchased Education visa stays.... Bust it up !!!

  7. My crown ( front tooth ) fell out yesterday, went in had it re cemented but probably drop out again, was quoted 14,000 for a new crown and probably drill a couple millimetres more for a longer crown pin. Hopefully the re-cement will last awhile....
