The 're-entry permit office' as you call it... is actually 'Immigration'... it doesn't close.

So if thats your only concern, then its moot...    the 'stress part'.. I don't understand that, but its individual, so if someone prefers to do this before hand, thats their choice. Obtaining a re-entry permit is very simple to do at the airport or at CW...

Oh ok I thought it was some area at passport control that may not be manned all the time, getting a re-entry works for me right at extension time anyway.....or the airport no stress......

Did a few VERY long haul (Hong Kong to Toronto nonstop) trips in the past 6-8 years on Cathay Pacific. Good service, lots of attention and drink flowing smoothly, easy on the eyes flight crew as a bonus.

Flew Scare Canada once from Tokyo to Calgary.   Once.   Wide hipped battleaxes slinging hash at the cattle, window shades down please! as soon as meal service was done (the better to keep the sheeple asleep and not demanding service), lots of noise and gossip from the galley that precluded getting any rest.  Never again.

Air Canada is offering Vancouver to Bangkok non-stop '16 hours' Dec. - Apr. Far too much time to clash with 'Battleaxe' flight attendants - nice not to transit but no thanks........

When applying online for the 90-day type O, did you have to show an equivalent deposit in a local bank?

Couple years ago an online  90-day Non O from Thai Embassy in home country wanted to see your local bank statement with 800,000 Thai baht equivalent among the 7-9 other questions, then you'll have 60-70 days or so plenty of time to open a Thai Bank account and get the 800k over for your extension. You may though need 90 day health insurance for the application as well if you can find 90 day insurance. We are not as fortunate as the Russians...........

I believe you , and there is probably little chance that you ever will,  but we all know how things work here,  it would be a real pain in the ass if one day you are the only one trying to use the pink card instead of a passport and you are faced with the bitch from hell having a menstrual moment .  All she has to do is read the 1st line on the back of the card , take it literally, and things could become rather inconvenient,  personally I wouldn't risk it

Do your best to look and find a male IO at arrival..........

Some of the easiest in the world!

Sadly, agents who bribe IOs to bypass immigration requirements are making things harder than they should be.

Well if they are going after exempt and tourist visa overstayers ( assume ) at Domestic airport checks, maybe it's a start to expand the search - 1st World style..... Agreed, an IO surely does not want to see you alone with all your paper work in order - hand drawn map from your place to where you are sitting, photo in front of your house number, seasoned 800k, etc.... for annual extensions for 1900 baht.......

Nah, not stupid question at all. The bank will be obligated to inform the revenue department of foreign transactions to different accounts. After that there will be information about your time in Thailand from immigration according to the stamps in your passport. How they will manage to put all that together, is something I am not able to answer, though. ;-)

Rest easy, they will not be able to handle the workload.........
