The number of amateur epidemiologists taking part in the Thai Visa forums is remarkable.

Fit to fly was implemented by TAT. Makes it extremely difficult to get back and is applied to any international airline operating into Thailand.
The TAT is the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the government's tourism marketing arm. They can't implement anything like this. It was a Civil Aviation Authority order.

Free for 200GB of storage. That's a tiny amount for an organisation, these days. That's a tiny amount for me! I pay Google for extra storage.

It does not matter whether the company is Thai or foreign owned. The protection give to employees is the same.

There are lots of reasons to get Thai citizenship. Own land; never have to leave; visa free travel in Asean; never have to file, visit or have anything to do with immigration or work permits again. Plus, if your original nationality allows it, you can keep that too. What's not good about it? It's only 5,500 Baht from start to finish. There is a thread on this forum that will tell you all about it:
There are lots of nasty comments in this thread, all stemming from jealousy. To those who have nasty things to say to people who have achieved citizenship I say one thing: 'keep filling in your TM30s'.

Lots of references her to "my" passport. Just to be pedantic, it belongs to your government; you are just the bearer. If his government's agent wants to put a stamp on a random page of your government's document, so be it. I can't see what the big deal is - does it mean you are going to miss a flight, train, bus because it takes the next immigration officer 20 seconds more to process you?

Hence scammers and bent cops often target the wearers of such as easy, well-deserving marks. Now if a Thai wears that combo, would it be also be a weird and condescending cultural appropriation? ????
Not really. Loads of Thai men wear cargo shorts, checked shirt and sandals. The stores are full of that stuff. It's just comfortable practical clothing,

If you travel a lot; PRs can apply for the auto gates at BKK (but not DMK yet). No TM6 to fill in.
One visit a year to immigration, 5,900 Baht or whatever for endorsement of the blue/white book and "Non Quota Immigrant Visa" - effectively a re-entry permit. OK, Immigration is busy in Bangkok, but it is a big city and everything is busy.
If you don't travel at all, you don't need to do anything with Immigration. I know someone with PR who has not left the country or visited immigration for over 25 years.
But, above all, as with its title, it is PERMANENT and has no expiry date. It is not linked to a job, work permit, money in the bank or anything else like that.

But then, if the WP expired just short before the announcement, I don't think they would give him any trouble. The issue became moot.
My work permit expired AFTER the announcement in the Gazette, so I just let it go. Generally, they all seemed very disinterested in the Work Permit. None of the departments asked to see it. I was lucky when I went to immigration, although my queue number seemed to jumped the other people waiting. I made a point of telling the officer that issues the queue numbers that I had received citizenship (showed ID card) and that I wanted to return my book and cancel my visa.

A quick note on the wind down / tiei up the ends of the process after receiving the Naturalisation Certificate and stamped copies of the royal gazette announcement from the Police HQ.
Went to the Khet - told to come back in a couple of weeks at a specific time with all documents and a witness (Thai, not necessarily resident in the Khet). Note that every Khet/Amphur will handle this differently. It looks like they have to file a full report to bring you into the system. A friend of mine was told to bring two witnesses, but this was a different Khet.
ID Card - Appointment at Khet - presented Tabien Baan (blue one - I've had PR for some years), Naturalisation Certificate and copies of passport, surrendered the Pink Card, and announcement from the Royal Gazette. Filing the report and writing the file in the computer took half the time, then we had to wait for the department head to sign off the report, plus lunchtime etc. Usual story. There was never any question of name change even though I had reserved a Thai name with them earlier. Four hours later, we walked out of the Khet with my ID card and a modified Tabien Baan. No charges and your first ID card is free! They even did the photocopying free of charge which was unusual.
Passport Office - ID Card, Tabien Baan and "foreign" passport to prove place of birth. 15 minutes. 1,000 Baht. Came back two days later to collect it. Very smooth and efficient.
Immigration Department - One copy of the Royal Gazette announcement and my white book. Nothing else to do or sign. I was asked if I had a Thai passport yet and was told never to use my 'foreign' passport either to leave or enter the country. Three minutes.
Local Police Station - Surrendered my Alien Registration Book and gave them a copy of the Royal Gazette announcement. Nothing to sign or pay. Two minutes!
Work Permit (it had expired after the announcement - just turned it in. Nothing else to do.
Social Security - these guys wanted a copy of EVERYTHING; luckily I had copies available. I was already in the system with an ID number anyway. I suggest that you do this BEFORE handing back documents as they seem to be still back in the 1980s and who knows what individual offices might want to see.
Bank - Confusion, but it got sorted. One bank wanted to see the original passport that I used to open the account! I told them that I handed it back years ago. Two internal telephone calls later and everything was done.
I guess I should do AIS for Internet and 'phone. Water and electricity are in my wife's name.
One thing that I am now finalising is changing the details in my/our wills to reflect the new nationality.
It has been an interesting journey. Five years and a lot of patience.
That's it.

You will have to sign (write) your name in Thai when you pick up the Certificate of Naturalization from the police. When you go to the District office for your ID card and to the Passport office you can use your regular 'foreign' signature.

Good to see that things seem to be getting faster than slower.
I have a question regarding the Oath.
I was told that it would be about 6 months+ after the MOI interview. However, I plan to be abroad for 6 weeks around that time. Who contacts you regarding the Oath, the MOI or the SB.
Also how long did your oath take after the MOI interview.
6 months. SB calls you. Oath at the SB office. I delayed my oath a couple of weeks as I was overseas, no problem for them. The down side of keeping them waiting is that you keep everyone in your 'batch' waiting. They need to complete the batch of people to move on to the next stage.

Thanks, very helpful.
I assume I don't need to take my wife with me but just the house master.
Taking.my wife would be inconvenient, but a few days trip to Bangkok is ok for me.
I was told to bring a witness. A friend of mine was told to bring two (different khet). If your khet works like most, their own staff can act as witnesses for a small fee. But who knows, by the time you get yours, they may well have changed the rules.

Sounds like his lawyer just found another way to scam more money in lawyer fees out of poor ol' Vern.
Don't be daft. All these cases in the USA are done on no win, no fee basis. The lawyer would have been in for maybe 40% of the winnings. That's the way they work.

Well noted. So it is not a serious offence.
I just received a letter from the Department of the Interior (I've already picked up my naturalisation certificate) telling me that I should complete the process within 60 days. I am taking that to mean complete everything, including returning the old books.

I picked up my naturalization certificate this week from Police HQ, photos were taken with the Sarawat and myself certificate in hand and he told me to be a good citizen and uphold the law etc. I walked a few minutes to Siam station, went the the ticket counter and asked to change my Rabbit card to a Senior card. The ticket office apologized that this was for Thai citizens only. I pulled out my oversized naturalization certificate from the envelope I was carrying, she took one glace at it, and within minutes I was in possession of a Senior Rabbit card with 50% discount for the BTS. Benefit #1 for me! The Khet have me booked for two weeks to go through the paperwork as they are only handling one person a day for naturalization. All good. I should have TAbien Baan, ID card and passport completed by the end of the year as well as returning PR/Work Permit/Police Book/ Immigrant VIsa cancellation.

Wondering if i still have to be on guard about the TM 30 ???? technically i am Thai after my name was printed in the RG, also read some folks before me didn't bother doing their reporting after their names were printed, however just curious that if the Immigration officers decided to pay me a visit this week they would be going back with empty pockets or not lol
Did you have PR before citizenship? If so you are exempt from TM30 filing anyway. Your name is announced, you are Thai, print out a copy of the announcement if in doubt and hang on to it before you get your certificate and ID card. A friend of mine in the women's announcement group recently said it took 2 weeks for the police to call her to come in and get the certificate after the announcement in the RG.

I remember as a child going to Spain on holiday. A large bottle of pop was 16 Pesetas, 8 of which was a deposit. Let's have large deposits on returnable glassware and good ways of storing and transporting it (e.g. Beer Lao or British milk crates). Ban importation, production and use of single use plastic bags and disposable consumer plastics such as plates, spoons etc. Use Tupperware type boxes - factories that make single use plastic bags should be compensated and given the opportunity to make reusable ziplock bags and containers. Take washable ziplocks and plastic boxes to the shop and buy loose food. Every delivery truck that visits a store with a consignment in reusable crates, comes back with empties. In that kind of supply chain it would work as return trips are paid for already. Shops will have to return to more traditional counter service, like they used to be but that's not such a bad thing either.
What's so hard about that? -

I just noticed that someone I know is among those in the latest list. I asked him how long it took him: 6 years. For me, papers went to MOI end of last year. It took me 4 years to get PR (a colleague who applied some years later got approved in 10 months). It would be nice to know when MOI interview will be if only because I travel regularly. Hopefully within next 6-12 months but life goes on, y'all know what I mean.
I had to miss the MOI interview because of travel. They just put me into the next month's interview. Nothing complicated.

I got already the documents from police HQ today, they informed me that I need to go to district office to apply for Thai ID. Once the ID has been issued, I need to go to Immigration office (I assume Cheang Wattana since I am residing in Bangkok and that’s where I renew my residence visa) and I need to surrender my Residence “White Book” and Allien Red book.
Anyone can advise me what kind of letter or document that I need to get from Immigration office in order to apply for Thai Passport at Ministry of Foreign Affair? Thank you.
Technically, the Thai ID Card is all you need although as you should know by now, just take all documents you can lay your hands on, just in case.
