Seems you may have partaken in your youth!
Is anyone espousing that marijuana (or alcohol) should be regularly used by teens?

nor Pattaya, Hua Hin, Krabi, Chaing Mai....................................Whats your point?
My point is that a shift of returnees to Phuket sandbox rather than Bangkok ASQ will have moved the spending from one place to another. Great for Phuket hotels and local businesses, not so good for Bangkok AQ hotels and their staff and suppliers.

UK reporting big infection numbers daily nearly 40k regardless of vaccinated so it's not the answer, covid is not going away
Thailands cautious approach to tourism is the right one for now
Yes agreed. In the UK deaths are down, hospitalization numbers are down. Vaccination is working. The medical profession never once claimed vaccination stopped people from getting Covid, only not suffering seriously from it, i.e. immunity. Vaccination accelerates herd immunity. The effort must be mass vaccination as fast as possible. Thankfully, that seems to be happening now.

Sorry, this is a false equivalence...
Singapore, for example, has been almost perfect in its handling. And, now things there are effectively back to near normal. Economy grew at a good clip. Just for an example in the neighborhood.
Singapore is small island of under 6 million people that has been managed with an iron fist in a kid glove for years with a compliant poulation. That is false equivalence.

Does it really matter? 26,000 people spent money in Phuket.
You could also argue that they therefore didn't spend money in Bangkok.

Spot on. Local tourism represented 1/3 of tourism revenues pre-pandemic. This is the path of least resistance. How many of those 26,000 'tourists' actually live here and chose sandbox over AQ?

I get the concept of Phuket/Samui. They are islands. There are small roads leading out of Hua Hin like holes in a sieve. How are they going to police that?

Right in one sense.
But Thailand is among a select few of truly dumb countries that has not vaccinated according to age (and thus need).
The nations 10 million over 60's could have been protected by now and this would have afforded a huge reduction in deaths and the possibility of at least a partial reopening.
What news have you been following? It's always been over 60s first. That may not have worked in all ares, but it was certainly the intention.

Much as I dislike the PM, it's not just him or Thailand. Every country in the world has behaved exactly the same way. Flip-flop, changing policies, do this, do that. Say this, say that. Open this, close that. Nobody knows how to handle the pandemic 'properly'. Why should they?

When Pattaya gets an enema, Soi Buakhao is where they will put the tube.

I can well believe it. Most countries do not even recognise vaccination programs, other than their own. Even with the same vaccine. UK does not recognise and will not issue a Covid Pass for their own people, vaccinated with imported Indian made AZ, purchased by the UK government and administered by the National Health Service. It's a minefield out there in the world. It's not just madness in Thailand.

I don't think I want to.
What's it do to you?
Did you like it?
Just curious.
It's like drinking a quadruple espresso of the strongest coffee, that's all. Nothing remarkable. I suppose that if you are doing manual work, it would give you a boost.

When you get a PCR test 72 hours before you travel, that gives you 72 hours to catch the virus. Then, long flights and an 8 hour layover in Qatar. Hmmm. That's all it could take.

My wife and I were both educated at Stanford University in the USA and want nothing to do with the vaccine. I would get it if forced but my wife, who is Thai ( IQ 200+++) , would rather die than get the jab. The Thai government should set something up so that Thai citizens can transfer their right to vaccination to anyone that wants it regardless of where they come from.
I'm having a problem understanding why the University you say you both went to, or how high you allege your wife's IQ to be has anything to do with not wanting the vaccine.

Thailand is not the only country with problems. Australia had fully vaccinated 18.3% of its population as of yesterday (Reuters Covid -19 Tracker). If they go back, they are still going to have to get in line.

You Googled "local health authority" in English and expected a result?

Don't live in Bangkok....there is no "local health authority", at least not one that deals with foreigners. The local health authority was the group giving vaccinations in Central Westgate which is why I innquired as to whether I could also get jabbed. They cleary had no idea of how to register a foreigner.
That's about the same as saying there is no local police force.

Yes you have to travel to Bangkok but that is not an impossibility, taxi return plus waiting 2400 baht. The National Vaccination Centre at Bang Sue railway station is the place to make for. It is primarily for over75's-farangs included, but it appears that one person under 75 can accompany you as their carer and also get vaccinated. It is all very well planned , very clean, uncrowded and fast. The AZ vaccine is being used. I left Pattaya at 8am and was back home by 1.30pm. The whole procedure showed Thai people at their best-well done to them.
On every day this week different groups of friends have followed this procedure with success., and gratitude.
You have a few days left to take advantage-up to you!
Well done and good call. People who are proactive in getting things done are getting vaccinated. The rest seem to be complaining on ThaiVisa or whatever it is called these days.

the whole thing is a shambles
I'm not defending the cluster at all. It is a shambles, I totally agree. That's not the point though. If you are told to register at one of two hospitals, isn't that the most sensible route to take? If that does not work, by all means complain, but don't expect some overworked Thai health worker at a vaccination site that you randomly show up at to speak your own language.

When they had a vaccine setup at Central Westgate Mall last week, they looked at me like I was from Mars when I stopped to try and ascertain whether I could also be included. In the end, I was sent away with a "not know yet" from the 1 nurse who seemed to speak a bit of English.
It sounds like you are expecting a local nurse, in a public vaccination setup to speak a foreign language. The advice was to register at one of two hospitals in Bangkok or contact the local health authority, not just show up at Central Westgate Mall. If you don't know where your local health centre is, then that's your responsibility. You seem to be acting in a rather entitled way, living in a foreign country.

Clinic treats some diseases with cannabis
in Thailand News
Posted
Is this news? These clinics have been around for a few years now. There are dozens of clinics and hospitals around the country that offer medicinal cannabis.
