  1. Not true at all. There are other categories of income that are not taxed in Thailand. For example, if you own a business in the US, and it has no physical presence in Thailand, income from that business is only taxable in the US. Read the whole US Thailand tax treaty. There is a lot in it.
  2. The taxi ride from the airport to their hotel was far more dangerous than that.
  3. They are upset because the natural world is being destroyed, so they deface the grave of the world's most famous naturalist??? Seems like they are targeting the wrong person with their hate.
  4. That's another detail that leads me to believe this post is fake. The poster sounds very much like a regular on these type of forums, not the newbie he claims to be. If he had to pull out his laptop and do some explaining, that wouldn't be done with the initial immigration officer. They would take him aside and a supervising officer (likely male) would handle that. Normally someone who's actually had that experience will mention those sort of details in their post.
  5. A bit strange that someone with only "a couple of visa exempt entries" to Thailand would be applying for a DTV in Jakarta or even applying for a DTV at all. I never trust a single report like this.
  6. You don't know much of anything about the war if that's what you believe. The equipment, ammunition, training and intelligence sharing has far surpassed any money given to Ukraine.
  7. Without the war I'm sure several other countries would be Russian territory by now. A dictator like Vlad will never stop unless someone stands up to him. The Russian army is now just a shadow of its former self and no longer a serious threat to other free countries. Thanks Ukraine
  8. Many border crossings are now requiring people to stay a night or two outside of Thailand before allowing them to return if they don't use an agency. The agency likely pays some extra "fees" at the border so you can do a same day bounce. So best to either just continue using the agency if you want a same day bounce, or go somewhere you can take a mini holiday and spend a few days outside of Thailand before returning.
  9. I think you are seriously underestimating the ability of large corporations to exploit natural resources. Without the treaty large corporations would certainly have mining, oil. & gas, and or fishing operations down there. Fishing and whaling vessels already routinely operate just outside the treaty area. There doesn't need to be any police force down there to prevent a company based in one of the signatory countries from setting up some operation there. Any company that did that would simply be prosecuted in the courts in their home country.
  10. I was in Thailand the first year of covid. We had a short lockdown, but then life went back to pretty much normal. It was actually one of the best years of my life. Thailand without any other tourists, what could be better? Meanwhile, my relatives and friends in the US complained to me constantly about how restaurants, schools, government offices were closed. Events were cancelled. They couldn't even buy basic essentials in supermarkets. It was simply an inexcusable epic disaster in the US.
  11. Of course, but that treaty is not just about having a base there. It's also about what private companies are allowed to do there.
  12. So mentioning any problem he was too incompetent to handle during his first term is deflection? Bizzare logic you have.
  13. Yah that first term worked out great. He sure solved all of America's problems. I have fond memories of the lockdowns, overflowing hospitals, protests, and endless culture wars.
  14. For the flight data recorder that records the airspeed, etc, there is not really much reason to have an independent battery backup because if the aircraft electrical power fails, all of the various electronic sensors that provide the data will stop working, so there will be nothing to record anyway. The cockpit voice recorder is the only thing that really makes sense to have its own independent battrry backup.
  15. So trump is purposely creating fake news to prevent the left from creating fake news? Sadly, that is closer to the truth than believing he actually wants Greenland.
  16. No 737 manufactured before 2010 was equipped with a battery backup for the black boxes. That means the vast majority of 737s still flying today have no battery backup for the black boxes. That seems like a flaw caused by the American company Boeing, not anything the Koreans did wrong.
  17. Absolutely nothing. He just talks about this kind of stuff to distract people from his incompetence and his complete lack of a plan on how he will fix Americas problems.
  18. The gear were already down before the go around, and there was no berm at the end of the runway if they continued in that direction. For someone who is such an expert about the mistakes the pilots made, you sure don't know much about what actually happened. The pilots may have had good reason for the go around, we don't know that yet. Or the airline's procedure may have been to go around, and they followed the procedure. Or they may have made a bad decision. Time will tell.
  19. The 737 doesn't even have a RAT. You keep making that part up over and over and over again. Ok, now I understand. Thanks. That's really great troll logic you are using again.
  20. The 737 doesn't even have a RAT. You keep making that part up over and over and over again. I won't respond to you any further because you are clearly just a troll and not worth my time.
  21. I just completed this quiz. My Score 60/100 My Time 249 seconds
  22. I agree, this seems to be one more indication that both engines failed, or at least lost most thrust before landing. I think the main question now is did both engines fail due to bird strikes, or was only one damaged by a bird, and the other one was shut down by mistake. Hopefully the data recorders were running long enough to solve that mystery.
  23. This was already expected. The flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder on that aircraft will stop working if main electrical power fails. We've already known that the main power failed because the aircraft stopped transmitting position data shortly after the mayday, and the aircraft external lights were off during landing. They should at least get the voice recordings and flight data before engines failed.
  24. You made an incredibly confusing post that made no sense, and then you dare to insult people because they were confused about it? Wow
  25. Why would anyone answer an unknown caller anymore?
