  1. The worst part of the road is as rough as a badgers bum basically but it's bareable, I shared a taxi which was just your usual type taxi car, but the plus side of this is the drivers know the road and are able to navigate through the rough bit quite quickly.

The road is laughable really considering how many tourist are traveling up and down it, surly that's a good enough reason to get it sealed, considering how much money it could help bring in to the country?

As for entering Cambodia through Poipet, it's a straight forward visa on arrival $20 and passport size photo is all that's needed see here.

  2. I now what you mean. If you've seen prices around £225 you can bet your booties they'll BE flying from LHR in may with the likes of royal jordanian and gulf air etc. And then you have to add on something like £140 tax anyway.

  3. The journey between Poipet and Siem reap is rough but only for about an hour or so. Some of the road is ok, it all depends really, the difference in cost of 4 return tickets BKK - REP with bangkok Air and going overland via a none to perfect road, if your used to doing long journeys with the family you may not find it that bad really?

What I do know is the reward at the end makes it all worth it. See here for a more detailed update of the conditions of the road between Poipet and Siem Reap.

Of course it would also depend on what the medical condition was.

  4. I see that Nok Air are operating out of Don Muang from March 25th.

A big pain fot international connections from now on!

But am i correct in thinking that Air Asia and One-to-Go are still based in Suvarnabhumi?

My understanding is that Bangkok Airways and Thai International are DEFINITELY staying at Suvarnabhumi, Air Asia is still considering moving (waiting until it's made worth their while?), Thai Domestic, Nok Air, Phu Air and 1 2 Go are DEFINITELY transferring to Don Muang from 25th March.

I am travelling TG to BKK on 11 April and then a domestic PB Air flight onto BuriRam (BFV).

There are rumours on this site that PB AIR are also moving back to DMK although all my checking on Websites does'nt indicate any changes.HELP !! :o Can anyone reassure me with FACTS as to where I need to pick up my PB AIR flight

    Worried of Surin

    :D:D

    Hi Dave,

I take it your flight arrives in BKK on 12apr as I cant see no flight on the 11th.

Anyway it looks like PB AIR are still flying out of BKK, the following is as of the

    Galileo GDS:

GALILEO LINK Action: Native Terminal Galileo PNR Ref:

    So your ok :D

  5. I'm doin' a bit of work for a tour-op in the uk and can vouch that it's causing some problems.

One example is we've got a booking for a couple who have already started their trip and are

in Oz at the moment. They're flying back to the UK with Thai via BKK with a side trip to HKT, their

SYD-BKK-HKT segment is fine but their HKT-BKK is now HKT-DMK which means

they will not make their BKK-LHR flight in time and because it's during songkran, switching them to a alternate HKT-BKK so as they can make thier connection is not that easy. It's all goin' a bit farking TIT's up.

Hve you been to SuwannaBoom???? It is a lovely palce with lots to do....change their flights to arrive a bit early and enjoy the place. The is some great art at both ends of Concorse D , great shopping, a nice hotel for a few house rest, and chang Massage, with seven locations. Endless places to shop, a fine humidor with some good cubans, and many bars. food from gorumet to fast. It is a world class marvel what has become a political football, most unfairly so! they have no problem finding things to do there.....A niuce massage could be a fine send off from Thailand!

Not been to the new airport yet SoiSong, wish I had like. I normally spend 4/5 months a year in Thailand but not been out there now since last July :o

Tried the earlier flight but it's showing no availablity so just waitlisted it and got touch with Thai to try and get them bumped on to it, there'll be a sh itload wanting to the same though so I dunno?

Thanks for the info on the airport, sounds like a day out in itself.

  7. The great thing about travelling through thailand in may is that you wont have any problems in finding decent accommodation at a fair price. So you could leave your planning till nearer the date, try and get a 10 day qualified weather report and avoid the areas with the worst weather if there is any. I'd say go south, if the weather is bad on one side of the peninsula you can just hop over to the otherside.

  8. 63.7 is the onshore rate.

Thats one HECK of a one day drop if it were true

Yesterday it was trading at 68 - 69 depending on where you looked

I think you got your "shores" the wrong way round :o

    Penkoprod

    What's the beef then?

And I dont mean the exchange rate of beef.. before anyone starts.

  9. I don't know where she got that from. I am American and every one usually orders for themselves only. If you over order then it is by accident. Maybe the portions are larger than what you expect but none do so on purpose. It is too easy to order what you think you can eat and then if you are still hungry order more or order a desert

You're telling me the portions are big in the US, a guy over there told me it was because you pay the same amount of tax on a large plate of food as you would on a small one, I thought is it any wonder that your all over-weight then?

  10. The following is an initial plan for TG operations at both airports.

TG will operate domestic flights from both airports scheduled from 25th March 2007, with some test flights commencing from 20th March.

The IATA code for Don Muang will be DMK & for Suvarnabhumi, BKK. This will be reflected in all GDS's in due course.

Flights to PHS UTH UBP & URT will operate from DMK only.

Flights to CNX CEI HKT HDY & KBV will operate from both DMK & BKK. To date we have no information as to flight times, numbers etc.

Flights operating from DMK will operate with a 4-digit code starting in the 1000 series. E.g. TG1100 - to avoid confusion.
