Is there a pricing index for residential property in Bangkok ? Do prices rise much - and property sell? I follow a few guys on youtube, and they are always rather down on owning property in Bangkok as an investment. I plan to buy and live in a condo. I see many advantages over wasting money on rent. However, i have now been told to buy a property in a much more stable western country, and use the rent from that property to rent a property in Bangkok. Thoughts ?

Too summarise what i have got so far - 1) You want to be exactly near a BTS and MRT so you compensate on having bad air and noise pollution around you. 2) You don't sit on a balcony, don't use the gardens or pools of your condo so any pollution is irrelevant to you. So i am taking this as a valuable commodity in Bangkok for many. For me i am trying to strike a balance. Sure it's important to be near a BTS and MRT, but for me i simply can't be near a main road with so much traffic and all that grind and filth that brings in.

On my search of condos around Bangkok, what struck me was how many luxury condos (and some that fit my criteria) were situated very much on the steps of a busy highway or heavy traffic roads. Is it just me or is this massively unappealling ? I love my balconies - the last thing i want is to sit on a balcony and be in waft of pollution from car traffic. What gives ? I am now searching for condos somewhere deeper in soi's to get away from the horrendous vehicle pollution.

I do wonder whether other countries also get vloggers to come and film in their country. No coincidence that the usual youtube rabble in Thailand were all heading to Japan, Phillippines, etc at the same period.

Yeah but if you have a nice view - you will be making use of that balcony.

On the contrary, i love sitting out on the balcony in the evening, just as the sun dips over the horizon with a good cup of tea and book - temperature is cooler at this point too.

Ah okay ... now we are getting somewhere. So some condos have a central system for their air conditioning system, hence why you don't find the ugly big units on the balcony. Never heard of this before and will give it a good research !

Because someone may well be in the condo with the a/c on - as i am on the balcony. My point is why do some condos not have these large units on the balcony? Where do they go ?

Can someone clarify the issue with air conditioning units on balconies. I have seen some condos where there is a huge big bulky air condition unit on the balcony. I honestly don't fancy sitting on a balcony with that waffting in my face. However, there are other places where i have not seen this big ugly unit on the balcony. I assume the air from the a/c has to go somewhere - so where exactly does it go ? Obviously not having a big bulky unit on the balcony seems more desirable to me. Anyone fill me in ...

In Central Bangkok ? For me they always cancel, and that's after waiting an age for them. Rarely get good experiences with them here. Something needs to be done with the official taxis.

Noticed this too. Some are using Thai's to front the business. But the prices they are charging are extorniate, a total rip off.

Good idea. Wonder if you can report taxi's who claim 'no meter' - or is it just emergencies?

This may well be the route i look upon then. The key i suppose would be to get two rooms together - which maybe difficult in regards getting a two bedroom and a one bedroom together.

We are looking for a 3 bedroom apartment in Bangkok. However, we often struggle to understand the financial understanding of the three bedroom apartments. Essentially we can buy a two bedroom, and a one bedroom in the same condo for half the price of a 3 bedroom. Is there something wrong with this plan ? The drawbacks ? Obviously one would be an extra fee's with the yearly fees - anything else?

I assume it will just be incorporated into the flight ticket.

In some regards you have to admire that attitude at times.

Bangkok taxi drivers are really next level corrupt since tourism opened back up again. Total disgrace, not one uses a meter.

I would save that simply if the taxi driver didn't rip me off from the airport to my hotel.

They're not refusing - they are setting rip off prices without using a meter. This has now gone mental in the past few months - way worst than anything before covid. No shame at all. It seems like they have all teamed up too, so it's not like you can find an honest one - they're all at it.
