  1. I have been there for the past 3 months, before leaving back to the US last week. Being there in April LAST year was a different situation. But having seen your previous posts, if EVERYONE said the world was round, you would argue the world was flat just because you like your own intellectual arguments at pointless debates. Good day to you, and won't be replying further to you if you don't believe Russians have literally taken over Phuket.
  2. How out of touch the politicians are .... i mean has Stretta even been to Phuket ? Go there and look for yourself how miserable life has become there due to the influx of Russians. And he is wanting more ?!?!!?! Life in unaffordable for most Thai's there now due to the practises and colonisation by the Russians.
  3. Due to thorough research on the topic, 4000 per person seems extremely steep. My guess is he may have meant 4000 for all three. These things can get lost in translation. With the ladyboys, you have to be aware they may well be on hormone meds, and they can literally lose their horse manure if you wind them up. Best to avoid any confrontation.
  4. This is some of the unitended consequences of the government policies of just letting everyone in. Rent, air fares, everything will go up. The original theory behind giving short term visas, was so Thai people would still be able to afford accomodation and rents would not rise massively with foreigners staying long term. At a whim the current government has just granted long term visas some nationalities and wants to extend it. No handbreaks on the sheer volume of tourists they are just letting in, good spenders or not - and it will just get worst.
  5. Thailand has so many issues to do with in society, but this new PM sounds like he is the head of TAT tourism.
  6. Woo back ? Has he been to Phuket? The island is now Russia.
  7. Nonsense. They way he punched that guy, was as if he had done it plenty of times before. His stance and motion wasn't just some eratic movement.
  8. They've had Ed Sheeran and Coldplay lately. But those sets were very small, not big budget shows - it was more about the music than any sort of theatrical stadium show. Like's of Beyonce and Swift is it's a very expensive show to put on, and the price is premium. Those sort of big shows will probably skip Thailand.
  9. I'd hazard a bet this guy went to Pattaya. Probably
  10. Short term yes. Long term repeat habit and the results are much different.
  11. Nothing major. You could have picked it up here and there.
  12. I've seen a few shows in the UK dubious of the claims they make. It's just natural dust from the suction they attract. The actual computer mechanism making claims - dubious it's actually measuring true dust. Furthermore, most people when they remove the filter, or attempt to clean it are just releasing alot of the dust straight back out.
  13. Oh cos the screen says it's doing so. Got ya. Total nonsense. When you go to clean the filter, all the dust just comes out.
  14. How do you know its working?
  15. Tourism are oblivious to the problem as it doesn't make international news
  16. The pollution yesterday was horrific too. Official readings were very unhealthy. So you had a bunch of people on roof top buildings wafting in the pollution. Very romantic.
  17. Any condo that you see. Just do your research that is strictly enforces no short term rentals. Check yourself too what they do to enforce this.
  18. I'm glad you're aware of the airbnb / short term infestation issue.
  19. Valentines day .... really or is that just a theory ? If Valentines Day a major thing here?
  20. Bangkok always busy, but usually between 9-2, and 7pm onwards thinks become a little more 'bearable. Not today. It's 9pm and the roads around Silom, Riverside, are just at a gridlock. Is there some event going on, or has someone new at his job done a poor job at doing a manual takeover of the traffic lights? We literally didn't move from our condo for nearly 30 mins. A simple normal 10 minute journey took us nearly two hours. All the same small soi's just rammed. Reading on Twitter many are reporting the same issues. Wag gwaaan ?!
  21. There are no hand breaks to halt tourism now and the sheer volume of numbers, after the visa waves for China and India. If you look at how horrific the situation in Phuket is and how miserable things are out there for anyone living there, i doubt the powers care. Pack in as many people as we can, good or bad seems the mantra. Someone has to pay for the revenue lost from visas fees, and other spending. They are on course now to smash 40-50 million people a year.
