  1. Hang on - so you go through passport control (ie no going back), and you find out the paper work is wrong, or the workers at the desk have gone for a break - you have literally lost your visa then haven't you ? Basically i'd be screwed. Why would they not put it airside ?
  2. The guy who faced racism was because he was black NOT because he was british. That whole 'that's not a race so it isn't racist' plays straight from the racist handbook. They love to trot it out.
  3. Racism should be highlighted, and kicked out. Not brushed under the carpet and told to move on.
  4. That is something to think about. Because when we go to extend our O visa for a year, we will only have 8 months left on our passport. So shall i commence proceedings for a new passport now ?
  5. Ah blady hell man this sounds tough. Cheers for the help .
  6. Do you get a number and wait ? Or do you get called back for a certain time? I ask because maybe our last experience had the agent doing the 'waiting' whilst my partner went shopping, lol
  7. When we went for the O visa - my partner said there was shopping downstairs and food places - and she had a good time. Although she did have an agent with her.
  8. I have travelled the world, and even stayed in India with visas. I have never seen anything as complicated as the system Thailand has for anyone staying long term - so you are correct, i am completely out of my depth here. Despite looking like the appointments are far away, is it still possible to go on the day ?
  9. Definatley more chinese tourists here now. Icon Siam, the bottom where they serve cheap 'street food' meals was packed with Chinese tourists. The big major restaurants, and the actual point of the mall - THE SHOPS they did not venture too. It was straight back into the coach and off they go.
  10. Guys i have tried to navigate the official site where i make an appointment for a reentry permit, but i can't seem to find it. Any ideas? Or do you just turn up? Furthermore, we would be needing a child to get the reentry permit too - will the child have to attend the immigration place also ? If you really want to be kind, can i request to ask what documents i should bring with me - other than the form, and our passports and money !
  11. It's called gentrification. Land is being bought up.
  12. Guys can you recommend anywhere in Bangkok that does a top Sunday roast dinner? I have tried a couple of places - one that was outrageously expensive to the point i nearly thew up when i saw the bill (and i'm not cheap eater) but the meal itself was rather average, with yorkshire puddings that looked and tasted like Bricks. On the other hand, i then went to another place that basically just threw veg into a heated buffet containers and you were left to just pick up some dry veg, and a thin strips of Chicken, which was ghastly. Any recomendations? I don't suppose they do Turkey in these parts?
  13. Tried Smoothbeam last month. Didn't see any difference. Anyone else had any luck with oily skin ?
  14. You are a top bloke. So to clarify (Cos of my thickness) - if i stay in Thailand and holiday, i don't need to do anything. Secondly, if i go abroad - as long as i have a reentry permit i still don't have to redo the tm30?
  15. I have an O visa on the basis of visiting family. It is for 3 months, and i am due an extension for a year in December.
  16. I am staying in Bangkok. I plan to holiday in Koh Samui, maybe Phuket, etc So i assume Bangkok is my immigration office.
  17. There are so many different replies and what to do - different directions - that i am utterly confused. There is simply no way, when we go to Koh Samui and check in they will not do the TM30 - staying in a five star resort. There seems no proper answer to all this - when i get back to my condo, do i then redo my TM30 ?
  18. My head hurts from all this. When you usually go to another hotel, they will take passports of everyone staying.
  19. Guys, the agent for my condo has done all the TM30 work for me. However, what happens when i go on holiday. Like, eg if i go to some local destination in Chiang Mai or Phuket. I assume then, the hotels in these destinations will do my TM30, but then i return back to my condo and what happens then? To further confuse matters what happens if you go abroad for a few days and then return home ?! So do i have to inform the agent, and she takes me off or something. Very confusing and such a a headache at times all this !!!! Thanks in advance for any replies !
  20. In that scenario it will help Thailand, as many Chinese will look for budget holidays. Thailand is a budget holiday for Chinese. The elite, and aspirational Chinese population yearn to go to Europe or America. The sheer volume of the Chinese population means their numbers are going to be astronomical again.
  21. Maybe it's just me ... but last few days i have definately seen a rise in the number of Chinese tourists around Lower Sukhumvit and Silom. BTS was packed with them. Prior to this i definately noticed less off them about. Maybe a coincidence but i doubt it.
  22. What was the procedure before this for Chinese to enter the country ?
  23. Very dangerous slippery sloap. When Chinese numbers return to pre pandemic levels, and keep going up - at what point do you then say 'enough is enough' - because you certainly won't be able to reinstate visas and the fees again (due to the relationship with China and how things work here). Imagine how much money they've invested in losing the visa fees they were making from the Chinese tourists ?! Basically you've just opened your border to a billion people to come and go freely. Had they waited and things eased in Chinese, things would have naturally gone back to normal. Imagine the cost of getting rid of visas fees they have cost themselves too. Very short sighted decision with huge ramifications, that i am not sure have been thought through clearly.
  24. Manchester --- > Istanbul -----> Delhi -----> Bangkok All around 4 hours each. 1 day sightseeing around Istanbul, then sleep the night in Delhi. Just splits it all up. Caveat is you will need to get a visa for India (which you can do online). You can also do Sri Lanka instead of India.
