i would have thought the celerio would as a cheap car not be a safe car, but your photo's have shown it is well built, so i'm impressed, at 416,000thb for a cvt auto car its cheap, does anyone know when the new model will arrive in Thailand, also if the Jatco cvt is a 7 speed is it the same one used in the latest mg zs, or is it an aisin 7 speed cvt

Its a Swift in my post. I don't know if the Celerio would fare as well.

  2. Something to consider..........Sandwiched after being struck from behind, by a truck, in stopped traffic.  The airbags, crush zones, and seat belts functioned perfectly. No interior damage. This one was replaced by an identical model and now, six years on, we have ordered another one.  Its my wife's car and she didn't want anything else, even though price was not an object. The new Swift has front and side airbags.  There is currently more than a two month wait if the dealer doesn't have in stock exactly what you want. The wife says she will wait.

The App is not new, I already had it since like a year. Same quality as other thai apps. I had not set set my birthdate since you have to scroll through every month starting in 2022 back to the year you were born and at my age you do not have time for stupid things like that.

I just skipped entering the birthday,as it is cumbersome, and the app still worked fine. I tapped the "request" button, and received an immediate call back. At my age I realize that a "stupid thing" like this could someday actually be a lifesaver.

  4. I just installed the app. It immediately showed my exact location on the included map. Out of curiosity I tapped the "request" button. As I hadn't entered a message I figured it would go to another screen. I almost immediately received a call back from an English speaker. I apologized for the false message and he politely said no problem.  I don't understand why so many are automatically critical of the Thai Police whenever they actually try to make improvements.

  5. Shared on Chiang Mai News in English today (Facebook).  I know there are legal ways to have one, just make sure you understand the law.  Apparently the lead ammunition was the main problem.

"A 30-year-old man has been arrested in Chom Thong for possessing an Airsoft rifle.

Mr. Worawut Pruksa from Moo 14 Ban Pae, Chom Thong, was intercepted by Royal Thai Police in Moo 12 Ban Pae, Chom Thong.
He was found in possession of a long airsoft rifle and 22 shots of ammunition (lead balls.).
He was charged under the Firearms Act Ammunition, Explosives, Fireworks and Imitation Weapons, B.E. 2490, Section 7, “Having firearms and ammunition in possession without permission from the local registrar" and Section 8 "take firearms in a city, village, or Public roads without permission to carry weapons without need and urgent reasons." 6. I received two photos of my Truck on the 118 north of Chiang Mai, going and coming back. At Mae Chedi (Hot Springs) they have a sign advising you to "Reduce Speed". The ticket was very specific as to the location of the "offense" and even told what lane I was in.  At 54km marker northbound. Quite impressive. ????

Although yours may differ due to location, mine gave instructions saying I could pay with online banking app or in person at KrungThai bank. No problem.  Guilty as charged.

I was able to open an account with Chase in 2018 using my Thai address when I was in the US on a visit.  Chase took a copy of my passport and a copy of a bank statement showing my Thai address. Chase sent my debit card and a box of checks to me here in Bangkok by FedEx. They send me 2FA by sms to my Thai phone number when needed, usually if I make a large purchase with my debit card, but don't routinely require it for website logins.

    So far, so good.

I have used Chase Bank since 2007. They were fully aware of my living permanently in Thailand when I opened the account and I have never had a problem (savings and checking).  My Thai address is on the account and my Visa credit card.  When expired, they send my new card to Thailand.  My Thai wife has her own card on the same account.  Also, Wire Transfers generally cast $25 to send to my Bangkok Bank FCA account. This includes large amounts. All done on-line. My pension and IRS refunds also direct deposit to Chase.

  8. You don't say where you live, but I just sold my truck in Chiang Mai.  I suggest going to local Transport office and ask.  I needed the transfer forms, a "Power of Attorney" form, signed by myself and two witnesses.  This authorizes your friend to act on your behalf.  A copy of passport and visa. Also a Residence Certificate. This could be a problem for you as they are only valid for thirty days.  Make sure your passport number matches that shown on your blue book.  I had changed passports during the life of my vehicle and they wanted to see a copy of both passports.  Bottom line: Before leaving, Check with the transport office your friend will use.

  9. I am an avid reader.  I have a full library of hard and soft cover books.  My Kindle is loaded and read daily. However, using the OP's logic I guess I really don't read as no one has publicly seen me reading.  Also, the huge number of coffee shops that have sprung up over the years must not be for Thai's as according to the OP Thai's don't like coffee. Got it. :0

  10. I ordered a new Toyota Hilux Revo GR in November (Nakorn Ping Toyota, Chiang Mai).  The dealer had many pick ups in stock, but only 1 customer ordered GR waiting for the bank processing.  He told me it would take one to two months, but as I was paying cash he would try to move me up in the queue.  It took 7 weeks.  On the day I picked up mine, he said they were delivering 15 other vehicles that day and more during the week.  Obviously many customers are still comfortable with purchasing new vehicles.
